Challenge - no dessert for 1 month

Quote  |  Reply

Ok, I know it's supposed to be a lifestyle change, not a diet. And I truly believe that it is virtuous to eat small quantities of really good desserts that fit into a calorie limit.

But I've been bouncing between 159 and 161 for 5 weeks now and would like to see a change.

So the challenge is... no dessert between now and April 20 (first Passover seder). Healthy snacks are a-ok -- fruit, nuts, anything that would count as healthy food. Desserts are out - cookies, cake, ice cream, pudding, chocolate. After April 20th, back to the usual "dessert is a virtue" belief and practice.

Anybody want to join?

Heads up to all, this thread will soon be moving to the Games and Challenges forum. The original thread will be locked, and a link will be left to direct folk to the new thread.

i so would not last! haha i just baked a cake! lol

Enjoy it :-) :-)

Monday - successful, no dessert

Anyone want to join me?

...  ...  You know what?  I think I will.  A month without candy bars and gummy worms and frozen cornstarch from McDonalds, it can't be THAT horrible, can it?

And April 20th is exactly one month from my wedding date.

I bombed yesterday, though.  Cookies and gummy worms.  Mmmm...

You're lucky you caught my attention before I went downstairs to fix breakfast, 'cause I usually snack on gummy worms while my toast is in the toaster.
I'm sorry I never eat dessert.  But if you wanted to expand the challenge to 'no alcohol for a month' I'd be in... :-)

mmm, coookieeees....

gummy worms, on the other hand. you can give me your gummy worms, they will be totally safe with me.

we will need to find someone else to guard the cookies.

welcome :-)

o.o;;  I seriously want a cupcake now.  No other time do I ever want a cupcake, but ten minutes after agreeing to this, I suddenly want one.

I'm also craving pickles on rye bread..

sorry alevin. but when i don't have my weekly dessert, i tend to have huge cravings and then i binge. and it ends up being a complete disaster...:(

maybe in another time. but good luck with u!

the pickles with rye bread sounds tasty, and clashes with cupcakes, so go for the pickles!

thisjess, enjoy the desserts!  I think in order to karmically even this one out, I will eventually need a maintenance thread on required desserts.

gi-jane, are you serious? does anyone else want to expand this to "no x for 1 month", where "x" is something with minimal nutritional value (in this challenge, no giving up cheese, pasta, bananas, or other real food that you may wish to eat less).

can i join? i probably wont be able to join but i will try!!!

I'm in!  I accidentally gorged on desserty-food yesterday, so now is the perfect time to commit to a temporary dessert moratorium.  Good luck all!

I wonder if sugary cereals count as dessert..

africa, welcome!  :-)

sugary cereals as a meal? dubious nutritional choice but not dessert

sugary cereal as snack throughout the day? dessert. couple of bowls of sugary cereal  while watching television? dessert squared.

*sigh*

This is a good one for me.  I've been getting a little carried away with the after dinner sweet tooth/Girl Scout Cookie obsession.

"I think I'll have some strawberries.   Oh and some thin mints.  Okay now some more thin mints..."  Aaahahahaha.

Count me in.

I love Girl Scout Cookies too! Also, I have a major sweet tooth too!

Well, you all have the will power!!!!!!!!!

Can i join :)??
There's a giant.. circular.. danish?  From Panera bread.  Some parts have cherry, some custard, some apple.. all smothered in sugary glaze..

Ugh.  Way to pick today to bring home dessert, Mom.  -___-;;

Oh hell no! I must have desserts. :P

Hi Alevin, this sounds like an interesting (and tough) challenge.  I'd like to join and see how far I could go.  That means no more oatmeal cookies for me. But good, because at the dorm the girls I dorm with LOVE to bring home sweet things.  Let's see how this goes.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
