Challenge - no dessert for 1 month

Quote  |  Reply

Ok, I know it's supposed to be a lifestyle change, not a diet. And I truly believe that it is virtuous to eat small quantities of really good desserts that fit into a calorie limit.

But I've been bouncing between 159 and 161 for 5 weeks now and would like to see a change.

So the challenge is... no dessert between now and April 20 (first Passover seder). Healthy snacks are a-ok -- fruit, nuts, anything that would count as healthy food. Desserts are out - cookies, cake, ice cream, pudding, chocolate. After April 20th, back to the usual "dessert is a virtue" belief and practice.

Anybody want to join?

Heads up to all, this thread will soon be moving to the Games and Challenges forum. The original thread will be locked, and a link will be left to direct folk to the new thread.

21 day, no dessert.
day 22, no dessert- all is well.

I don't have my calendar handy at the moment so I don't remember what day I'm on but still no desserts.

Whoo hoo! Congratulations!

I did another day without dessert today, and don't have anything in the house other than a very well hidden chocolate bar, so that's all for me.

Since the start of the challenge, I lost 5 lbs and 1-2 waist inches (got good measuring tape in the middle, not 100% sure of the starting point).  Thanks all, for being a good influence.

I'm off for Passover, carry on and enjoy!

day 23 no desserts- weekend now- only 7 more days before one month for me.  this has been a really good challenge.
24th day and no desserts- went to "High Tea" today and the bottom layer was covered with bite sized sweets.  LOoked delicious.  Took mine home for hubby and the freezer.

26 days for me. Way to go Pudpie!

25 days for me with no desserts.  Had a bunch of people over for brunch and somebody opened a box of Purdy's chocolates and left them open the whole time on the table.  Thank goodness for this challenge or I think I would have been right in there.
Day 26 - no desserts.  Today at work is was easy- got a routine and sticking to it keeps me out of trouble.
day 27- no desserts.    I am feeling lonely, I guess that is what happens when you start late.  One benefit for me of having no desserts for one month is that when I got measured at boot camp - I had lost 4 inches off my hip area.   I am sure some of it was exercise, but guaranteed, the lack of extra sweets helped big time.

Hey Pudpie! I'm still hangin' in there with ya. 31 days today. I thought about treating myself to something sweet today but I still fear that I will go overboard so I am hesitating even though my 30 days is up. 4 inches off your hips? That's awesome! Congrats!

day 28 no desserts. oh my goodness, I actually gave away cookies that were brought to me fresh from a bakery .......I gave them away!!!!
day 29, no desserts.
day 30, and I do believe that I will have something sweet a little later today with my granddaughter.  I am thinking of doing this challenge again.  It has been good.  I am going to have a slice of coconut cream pie- for some reason, that is the one thing I have thought about constantly.  Then, having satisfied that craving, I am going to do this or a version of this again.  It has been really good for me.

hi, pudpie.  how about another challenge for May?

personally, I'm craving a package of chocolate-covered almonds but it's not worth the suffering.

I'd go for a May challenge.  I indulged yesterday and it was disappointing (not nearly as good as I thought it would be).  Yeah, I would defintely do this again in May.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
