December Weight-loss challenge!

Quote  |  Reply

This is a place where we set a goal for the month for weightloss, a goal set by you, based on your needs and abilities.  Just put your stats and your goal by the end of December!

So here's mine:

age: 26

height: 5'2"

SW: 133

CW: 126

GW: 115

For our last challenge in November my start weight was 130.  My goal weight for the 4 week challenge was 127, and I weighed in at 126!

So let's do this!

For this goal:

CW: 126

GW: 124 (it is the holiday's after all, don't want to be too over-zealous)

I created the January challenge.  http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/games-ch allenges/january-weight-loss-challenge

I'll weigh in tomorrow as my final December weigh in and then start the January one with a weigh in on the first.  January needs to be my serious time.  I'd like to see myself work a little harder and be a lot more strict on goals.

Congrats to everyone who've lost and for those of us (me) who haven't, don't beat yourself up it's a tough time of year.  Chances are that in trying to lose or at least maintain we didn't gain as much as we would have if we'd have turned a blind eye.  Weigh in on the 31st if you like, or you could do like Langey is doing.  I'm personally going to weigh in tomorrow, and wait and weigh in on the next friday.  For my sanity I can only do it once a week.

I have a birthday party to go to on Saturday and she doens't always make the healthiest meal.  Usually turkey drenched in cheese and scalloped potatoes.  She always has fruit so that will be my main thing.  I am going to allow myself a small piece of cake, because I love it!  Goal today is NO chocolate, but now that I am saying it my mouth is water, so maybe I'll allow one dove dark chocolate.  We're eating out tonight with some friends so I'm hoping to not have a beer and eat something half way decent.  Maybe salmon or something.  The next few weeks should go well.  Boyfriend is on call so we can't go anywhere until the 12th of January!!!  We have a bday party the 13th and the 21st going away for a night with friends.  So I'll plan for that night to suck because I know I'll be drinking a fair amount and feel like crap the next day.  Maybe I'll stick with salads and fish for meals and save for at least 500 calories of beers.  I can make this work!

I am excited to start the Jnauary thread. I didn't keep up with this one as much as the one last month so I am planning on being more focused on my goals next month. Congrats to everyone who lost weight and to everyone who maintained during the holidays! I was expecting a gain after the last week, but somehow I finally broke a plateau and lost almost 2 pounds! I don't know how that happened because I ate tons of cookies and pie. I even had pie and ice cream for breakfast one morning. I have been stuck at 114.2 for the entire month with barely even any daily fluctuations. Today I weighed in at 112.6!! My goal for the month was 111. I didn't reach it, but I am happy anyways. I will probably just make tomorrow my first weigh-in for the january thread because I would like to continue to weigh in on Fridays (as well as Tuesdays).

That's it.

See you all next month.

Happy new year :)

Ok, final weigh in says 131.8.  Up from 126.8 at the beginning of the month.  But it was a hard month, family drama plus 5,624 parties, so I'm not too upset.  I think some of that is water weight cause just a few days ago I weighed 130.8 and I've stuck to calories and exercising, except last night.  Stupid me went out to eat.  I tried to keep it low, but they have my favorite dessert!  Plus, I've heard people say that in their first week of doing the 30 DS, they gained water weight.  We'll see.  I'm doing the warm lemon water first thing in the am and fruit only breakfast to see how that goes.  See you all in January, I'm setting a goal and I'm gonna reach it!

Ok, I've been doing some research, and everything I've read says that worked out muscles retain water while they repair, and since the 30 DS is an everyday thing, they don't really have a chance to let go of that water after repair.  So I'll keep up with it and then after, if my weight hasn't already gone back down, it'll drop.

Dec 1:  132.4

Dec 9:  133.4 (boss bought chinese for lunch yesterday, little water weight, weigh in again monday)

Dec 12:  133.6

Dec 16: 134 (oops I have McDonalds last night and didn't just stick to a sandwich, not enough water either yesterday.)

Dec 20:  133.6 (or .8, I don't remember now).

Dec 23:  133.6

Dec 30:  133.2

Dec 31 GW: not reached!

Well I guess I can be ok with the .4 drop.  Better than a .4 gain especially over the holidays.  I actually did well over the holidays.  They were so busy that I didn't really focus much on eating.  I went out to eat last night with some friends and I was going to stick with the under 550 calorie meal until my boyfriend wanted to share something else.  I still had chicken, except it came with fried peppers.  looked like they were swimming more than just fried.  I tried to scrape a lot off the chicken and eat just that.  I only had water, so that was good.  I'm having caribou this morning!  i just needed to treat myself.  Having skim milk with half the flavors and no whip though!

asbandr:  I've heard that a glass of chocolate milk after exercise is good for the muscles.  I usually have a glass every time I do the Shred, which I skipped last night.  I aim to do it every day until the 13th, which I won't have time that day, unless I get up at  6, which isn't happening.

Yes!  An excuse to drink chocolate milk!   I normally like to drink Ovaltine if I do chocolate milk because it has a lot more vitamins and stuff than just hershey's syrup.  Think I'll have to get some...

Congrats!!!  So glad you made it!  If only I could say the same!

Thank you! Today I was back up to 145...still goal.

I look back at the calendar for last year...I was about 7 pounds heavier in Jan 2011.

I am satisfied to lose a bit from year to year as I get older!

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
