Lose 10lbs by June 14th 2008

Quote  |  Reply

Feeling seriously fed up today! I'm trying to kick the nasty binge moster right in the face, be more possitive and sort my self out and i think setting up a target deadline might be the motivation i need.

does anyone want to join me in trying to lose 10lbs by june 14th? that is 8 weeks time. i think that is a reasoable time frame but correct me if i am wrong. i am going to weigh myself once a week on saturday mornings, so if anyone joins me we could share successes together.

if you want to, then post your weight and get the ball rolling. Anyone and everyone welcome.

hey bugsy - maybe (don't want to sound negative, but) its water-weight? I don't really know what that is, but many people here bandy it about, so...?

alternatively, you've built up some muscle which is burning calories more effectively...yay!

hey - don't complain!

I guess I can be thankful that 6 months ago I was 120, and I know I can do it again, I just gotta stay focused. I'm about the same I was a year ago too, so that's good, considering my 1 year wedding anniversary is May 26th!  Back to 133.6 this morning...that makes me feel better....damn Chinese food anyways. I should stay broke, it's better all around that way! (lol)

Sorry, I forgot to weigh in on Saturday or Sunday! This morning I was 117.5 so pretty much the same as last Saturday. At this point I'm just glad to be staying the same. Last week's eating was better and I got quite a bit of exercise. I hope I can follow through this week and see a small drop on Saturday.

Well done to all those who posted a drop :)

mango i was thinking the same thing about the water weight, but if that is the case does that mean it will just come back on when i start eating more again?

and trust me im not complaining!! :P haha

I'm in today....Monday May 19th!

Currently 138.6.

10 lbs - 8 weeks - lets do it!

back home from graduation and weighing in at 135.2.  guess that's not too bad with all i ate and drank.  up about 2# and hope some is water weight.

sheriglass - I'm sure some of it's water weight. give it a couple of days.

Bugsy - I have no idea, m'fraid. If you do put it on again, its not as if you've put on weight, just returned to the original plan. If not, then, well, yay.

Also, I was wondering, how tall are you? Just, we're the same age, et al... I'm 5"4. Would love to lose a stone. so much!

hey sheriglass, 2lbs won't take long to sort out!! i hope you had a great graduation!

mango i am 5''5, so basically the same :) and you're from england right? woo we have loads in common!! LOL

hey bugsy -- good call!  i'm back down to pre-grad weight today (133.6).  TG it was only water weight!

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone!  Let's all do something fun and active outside!  Oh -- do you guys in the UK have a Memorial Day?

Hey all... sorry I've been a stranger recently. I haven't logged my weigh-ins on here because nothing had changed...

But I am back to report! Weighing in at 135! I lost a pound and a half even though I really have been slacking off. I haven't had the motivation to get the gym after work but my appetite has also gone down so I haven't been eating as much.

PLUSSSS its TTOM so I am crossing my fingers for another pound down when I hit the scale on Monday. :)

I lost another inch on my tummy/pudge area so that makes me happy as well. I'm hoping I can push myself to the gym on Monday because I'm thinking at least some of my weightloss has to be muscle.

ugh...this is so difficult.  I have been almost religious about my diet, and pretty consistent about exerise...

yet I have lost only 2 lbs since i joined this illustrious group. sigh.

i have an official weigh in with my nutritionist on Sunday...maybe i'll have something to report then....(hopefully in the right direction)

oops...forgot to say  my weight:

started at 148

.....now at 146

i dont think we have memorial day sheriglass, unless i am totally missing something :) what is it? how do you traditionally celebrate?

well done brighteyes :D and christink, try not to get too down! 2lbs is better than nothing and 3 million times better than gaining :) if you've been eating all the right food then at least your body should be healthy and working in top condition anyway,  reguardless of weight loss. i hope your nutritionist can help you get things moving again, good luck.

saturday morning, weighing in at 112 which is 1 down from last week and 6 down from starting this thread. ive been thinking about stopping soon though, im pretty much a healthy size and i think it might be best for me to stay around this weight but tone up a bit once im done with school in a few weeks. still undecided though...

hows everyone doing?

117 this morning, I'm happy about it. Down a bit from last week, and from a high earlier this week (that must have been from too much sodium). :)

bugsy- Memorial Day is only in the US, its officially a day where we remember the men and women who have died in war. Unofficially... its the start of summer. Families usually get together, BBQ or go camping... etc.

And we allllll know BBQ's mean High Cals!!!

So here's a question for everyone... what exercise do you swear by? You know.. What activity have you seen proven results for? It can be cardio or a strength training technique.

I love riding my bike. I can just throw on my helmet and backpack and take off for an hour or so. Depending on my mood I can take on some hills, or just stick to the flat bits. I love losing myself in the rhythm of the cycling, and letting my mind wander (not too far though because I have to watch the traffic). I've been consistently getting out on my bike about 50 miles a week, for a year now. My butt is much smaller, and my legs have more muscle tone.

I swear by kayaking.  I started paddling 2-3x/wk in April, and my weight loss has been so much easier since.  Also, I have some nice cuts in my biceps and triceps now.  Really important to work those arms now that I'm over 40 -- no floppy tri's for me!!  Wish I liked to bike.  My butt could use it -- but I'm afraid of falling!  What a weenie I am!

Oh yeah, weighing in a 133.4#.  11# total loss, and about 3# since we started on 4/19.  3.4 to goal weight.

OK, just to warn everyone, I'm going to have a moan:

I have completely lost any sort of motivation. Its now half term, and I have to revise for my last exam - the crucial one for me to get into university. quite intense. which basically means that I sit around staring at my notes all day.

Also, because of the truly godawful weather, i can't do any exercise. It is currently pouring with rain. Not even shopping or going out with friends, because I live in the middle of nowhere, and both my parents work. And I can't drive alone yet. And, I have quite mild SAD, so I get a little depressed when its rain anyway.

I am currently home alone, bored of revision with very little to do. Except eat. Because yesterday my parents had a dinner party, and stocked up on all my favourite foods for it, most of which was left over.

So I am home alone, bored, with my body's nemesis and my appetite's favourite: Ben and Jerry's Cookie Dough. I have already eaten half a tub. I have also eaten haagen dazs' pralines and cream and cookies and cream, and ben and jerry's baked alaska. about half a tub of each of those too.

In addition to these joys, I have severe eczema, which flares up when i eat a lot of dairy products/bananas/oranges, lots of sugar. So I look like the singing detective atm. And when I look this bad anyway, its very difficult to say: Oh, if I just eat 1200 calories today, and tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after that, for you know, three weeks or so, I may lose 2 lbs. whoop dee doo.

OK, I'm done now.

hey mango -- sorry you're having such a bad time.  i don't have any pearls of wisdom or a life changing motivational speech, but just want to let you know i hear you.

ok so i do have one thing to say:  remember this is just one day in a very long life and it only lasts 24 hours.  then you get a do-over (or mulligan if you're a golf enthusiast).  So enjoy the icecream today cause tomorrow you get to start from scratch.

p.s. you may want to throw away the left-overs before you go to bed tonight!

ive been bingeing for the last 4 days due to being upset and stressed about exams and life. weighing in today at 119lbs, 7 up from last week which is physically impossible so i know some is water weight. im not too upset. i just want to get through exams and then i can get back on track.

i hope everyone else is doing better than me. mango i know exactly how you feel. just try and relax and don't get too stressed, we can worry about our weight once we're done with worrying about school, right? not long to go now. xxx
