Welcome to the **March** Challenge! It's over. Join in April's challenge.

If you’ve participated before, welcome back for another month! To all those who have not done this challenge (or any other) welcome aboard newcomers!
If you are new, please tag this thread so that you can find your way back in the future.

The challenge is pretty easy & does NOT require a long-term commitment; just for this month. You pick a goal weight, and post your progress each week. You are NOT in competition with the other challengers—in fact, you are encouraged to cheer each other on. This is about having a reason to stay motivated throughout the month’s weight loss journey and having a place to post your progress to help you stay on track--some "extra" accountability for your actions because you know you aren't the only one who will "see" the results.

We'll have 4 weekly weigh-ins plus the start. Our dates are March 8, 15, 22, and 29, 2011 for final weigh in.

Weigh-in days continue on Tuesday coinciding with the first of the month.

Normally, spreadsheet results will be posted within 24 hours after weigh in date and will appear as a link at the bottom of this post.

Add comments: 3/8 - I don't know what's happening. I don't know how to fix it. I am extremely frustrated and really ready to give up. This is the longest I have ever done a diet and I feel like I am starting to see why. However, I am NOT stopping. I feel that way but i'm NOT stopping. I think I am going to up my exercise and increase my calories this week. We'll see what happens...

3/1 - Well Feb. was a rough month. So I am starting March with a 3LBS weight loss from last week and I intend to do 8LBS this month. Here we go........

Comments:  This should be interesting. I'm getting back surgery done this month.  I have fluid in my knee that I'm getting x-rayed tomorrow and going to an ortho dr on friday.  Wonder whats going to happen with my weight!

Hi Sam -- Don't give up! You can do it. You know, if you stop now, you're only going to start again later. So why wait? It's something we all have to work at for our whole lives. 

I would very honestly evaluate what you're eating this week. Write every single thing down. I mean even the handful of wheat thins that you grabbed from your work's snack cabinet Embarassed (guilty, but I counted them!).  I wouldn't just assume that you need to eat more. I think that's a mistake that people suggest on these forums. Instead, really be honest with yourself and weigh/measure/count/track everything. You may even be over eating. To be honest, you couldn't have gained 2 lbs if you only ate 1400 cals on average. That's a deficit even without exercise, which is weigh loss.

I'm only saying this because the first two week that I started, I was discouraged. I said at the end, "I did everything I could do!" However, I wasn't being completely honest with myself. I was guessing portion sizes. "Oh that's about 4 ounces of meat." I re-evaluated the food I was eating (portions, portions, portions), bought a digital food scale (can't live without it now), increased exercise, cut my sodium intake by 1/2 (if not more), I don't eat grains for dinner anymore, and make my snacks fruits/veggies. I don't know, it's now clockwork for me. I've been steadily losing 1.5-2.5 lbs every week for 9 weeks now. Hope that helps!  (P.s. Hope this doesn't jinx me for next week lol.)

Add comments:  I am happy and exited -3 lbs I been working it out. taking a class at the gym it makes me go at least once a wk but I actually went 3 times last week. progress for me I guess I am on my way to getting addicted to working out (one can dream;)  Love most of u have lost some weight that is great keep at it. dont get discourage for how little we loose we will persevere.

Add comments:  This loss is mostly water, because I partied too hearty the weekend before this challenge I and didn't get back on the wagon til the challenge started Tuesday. But I'll take it! Thank you so much. This was really helpful. I am going to go buy a scale tonight. I realised I have been trying hard but you are right I guesstimate. And no mater what with the amount I THINK I have been eating I should not be gaining. Hopefully next week I will have a more accurate count and a better weight loss. So glad I joined thinks. Thanks for the encouragement! :)

Add comments: I just broke a 6-month plateau back in February, and I am trying to take things to the next level.  After 3 years of slooooowly changing my lifestyle, I finally bought a food scale and a pedometer just this week.  I am already loving the food scale -- no more guessing with things like nuts and cheese and pasta.  And the pedometer is really pushing me to take those extra steps!
