Welcome to the October Challenge!

If you’ve participated before, welcome back for another month! To all those who have not done this challenge (or any other) welcome aboard newcomers!
If you are new, please tag this thread so that you can find your way back in the future.

The challenge is pretty easy & does NOT require a long-term commitment; just for this month. You pick a goal weight, and post your progress each week. You are NOT in competition with the other challengers—in fact, you are encouraged to cheer each other on. This is about having a reason to stay motivated throughout the month’s weight loss journey and having a place to post your progress to help you stay on track--some "extra" accountability for your actions because you know you aren't the only one who will "see" the results.

We'll have 4 weekly weigh-ins plus the start. Our dates are October 8, 15, 22, and 29, 2011 for final weigh in. 

Weigh-in days change to Saturday coinciding with the first of the month.  If you can't post on weigh-in day, that's okay, too!

Normally, spreadsheet results will be posted the Monday after weigh in date and will appear as a link at the end of this post.

Wow!  October already!  I can't believe I've been at this for 10 months!

Welcome and Welcome Back Everyone!

We've had some regular fall weather lately here in Buffalo, NY and let me tell you cold rainy weekends just make me want to stay inside and eat beef stew and biscuits all day!  Unfortunately I've been sick the past couple days, so I skipped the stew and went with homemade chicken noodle soup, which is good but didn't quite hit the comfort spot.  At least it drove out my fever!

I notice a couple of you didn't enter a starting weight.  I keep a spreadsheet of everyone's progress (it gets linked to at the bottom of the original post) and the formulas go all wonky without a starting point.  If you enter your starting weight before the first weigh-in (Saturday), you'll get credit for any weight you've lost between now and then!

I noticed a typo in my original post. Goal weight is 225, not 215. ( I wish it were possible) Smile Thanks for doing this.

I hope I can get back on the train again.   I got down to 150.8 back in February, but I got off track with company in April and ever since I've been over calorie enough to pack on 20 pounds.   I am not happy about it and I really hope coming back here will get me in the right mind to start back to some serious calorie control.

Add Comments: So I don't count calories anymore, I follow the Harcombe Diet, which pretty much excludes all processed foods and is relatively low-carb. I have been cheating a lot, and I know I have at least 5 pounds of water weight. So I am expecting a large first week loss. Love these challenges! yay
