NEW CHALLENGE FOR 2012 POSTED IN THE GAMES FORUM

Information to put in the challenge:  Copy and paste the bold printed information, please.

NAME:

STATE OR COUNTRY:

LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF:

HEIGHT:

CURRENT WEIGHT:

GOAL WEIGHT:

AGE:

DAY YOU'D LIKE TO WEIGH IN

Name: (Jamie)

State: (Ohio) - like to do this so I don't miss anyone for weekly stats. Several times, people have missed out because of the time zone difference. So, if you want to see your name in LIGHTS, when you have accomplished so much, please provide it.

If you'd like to give a little brief information about yourself that would be great!  Possibly meet new people to be friends with. (ie.,  attempts on losing weight, special dietary constraints, motivation for this journey things like that).

SW for Challenge:

GW for Challenge:  275   10% OF YOUR CURRENT WEIGHT IS SUGGESTED) I AM DOING LESS BECAUSE I LOSE AT A SLOWER RATE

Novembers Challengers 7% of SW unless it is midway then 5.5

December Challengers 5% or 4% of SW.  This is to keep you motivated to stay with the challenge.

Experts say 10% of your body weight is reasonable to lose in a 3 month  period.  You must take into consideration if you had already lost a reasonable amount of weight that your may hit a plateau during this challenge.  Don't get discouraged.

Height: 5'3

AGE: 48

Day you like to weigh: Saturday

One challenger was wondering what is reasonable for weight loss.  The answer is 10% of your current body weight.

Welcome one and all!  This challenge is a 4th quarter challenge for the year 2011.  Anyone can join and there are no rules, except pick a day that is good for you to Weigh in Consistently.  Don't worry, if you miss a few.  The key here is to log at least once a week.  So go ahead and tag this and come back!  If you are new and need help let me know and I will give you information on how to tag the topic.

Look at the below comments for information durng the challenge

I will post the tips in the THIS journal post and MARK EDIT: SEE COMMENT and I will reference the comment number so you can just scroll to it, if you'd like.

  6. Edit Comment 281: STATS TO DATE: DECEMBER 13- 2011

YOUR POST IF YOU WISH TO BE INCLUDED ON THE SPREADSHEET WHERE I POST THE WEEK"day's.  THIS DOES NOT HAVE TO BE YOUR WEIGH-IN DAY.  My goal is to post total lost two days after the month has ended.  This will enable those in different time zones to not be left out.  At the end of the challenge I will post a range and people's name.

One thing I decided to do to the challenge is to adjust your formula to your actual highest weight. Afterall, you have lost more than your initial weigh in.  I think this is fair and encouraging.  I will ask you before I adjust the formula, so its up to you.

So hurry up and get your name added!  Whats stopping you?

Take care and Best of luck. . . . God Bless.

Wow! feels so good!
This will be my last weigh in for the quarter.
I accomplished my goal - yea!

I will join the 1st Quarter 2012 challenge and tackle the rest.
Thanks to everyone for keeping the challenge going and being so supportive - it has
really helped me!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all! - Laury

Awesome, Laury!  I'm not weighing in until next week.  I've done OK (read:  so-so) during this holiday month...continuing to log my food, still spending time on the treadmill but with less intensity since an old knee problem resurfaced), and still keeping my eye on my goal.  I also look forward to the new year.  No resolutions for me, but I will be setting new goals for myself.

Again, congratulations on a great job!

Awesome Laury, Congrats.

I have not been doing too well lately. We just had our early Christmas celebrations/husbands 75 Birthday bash combination, which stretched out over 3 days. The house was loaded with kids and food. Fun, temptations, thanksgiving, temptations, love and temptations galore. Ay-ay-ay.

Hopefully, I will be able to pick myself up, dust off and get back on the wagon again.

Have a blessed Christmas all.

I remember hearing a woman speak one time about successful weight loss.  She said that a common theme she noticed among people who had been successful was that even though they slipped, they jumped back on the plan.  That is something I've had to remember since coming here:  I tend to think in absolutes, i. e. success or failure.  And if I "fail" I tend to think I am out of the game.  Not so!  I have not been as true to my plan this month as in others, but that does not have to un-do all the progress I have made this year.  Weight loss can be forgiving.

Thanks Murrill!! You have given me hope.

Everyone.. treat yourself well and enjoying time and food with your family is not a failure!

I've had a good year of weight loss, but its been more about tyring to reduce stress and staying healthy. Murrill - the ups and downs that you talked about is what I've been doing for 30+ years never quite mastering the "down". This year's loss was preceeded by many years of trying - some times more successful than others. I'm planning to lose a little more and keep it off - I'm not sure what life is like without always trying to battle food weekly, but I'm very willing to try.

You are all wonderful and the fact that you're on this site means that you care about yourself!

Laury

Roger, your Christmas message was endearing and I greatly appreciate you sharing with our community of challengers.  I hope you don't mind if I copy and paste your post to my journal page.  Let me know if you do by sending me a personal message.

Laury, Congratulations on your goal attainment!!!! Watch for me to post the 2012 1st quarter challenge. probably around the 27 or 28th.

Murrill, great words of encouragment. And Grace, there is no other way to describe the ups and downs except, Don't give up.  It will come off when you least expect it.

Satyrswoman, I like how you are staying with us during the challenge.  Those last few pounds are hard for the body to give up, but you will.  I hope you will join the new challenge when I post it.  You have been my motivator, even though I haven't mentioned it before.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas, look for stats in the upcoming days.

Take care and God Bless. . . . Remember Jesus is the Reason for the Season!

  3. Little about myself: This is my second quarterly challenge. The reason I need and want to loose weight is simple. My health was taking a dive and if I don't smarten up, I will be sidelined. I have been a yo-yoer ever since our kids came along. I have 4 children and 13 grandchildren, so lots of family get-to-gethers. CC helps me plan with meals and portion control. 24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. 25 Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26 Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; 27 but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified. 1 Corinthians 9:24

Here's hoping everyone has a terriffic weekend/holiday. Be safe and happy.

Joh 15:1-8 I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.

Some important observations and applications can be made from this passage. First, Jesus isn't one of many good choices when it comes to whom to plug into! "I am" is either audacious or accurate. Either He is or He isn't. Second, He says "every," not "every other" or "some" or even "maybe every" branch, He says every branch that doesn't bear fruit He takes away. Then those that do bear fruit do get pruned. Yikes! (It doesn't seem like Jesus is trying to win friends and influence people with these statements J.) He continues by telling us it is He who makes us clean.  (comment from Setting Captives Free)

Happy New Year everyone from Western NY
