Weight loss challenge for women between 45 and 50
Hi:
Is anybody currently in a weight-loss challenge for women in their mid to late 40's? I joined two challenges, and although they are a bit helpful, I find that everyone is 20+ years younger than me, and therefore, eating differently with different mind-sets. If anybody wishes to join me, please do so. I would be delighted. I will post my weight now. I wish to lose 10 lbs. by the 4th of July, my 46th birthday. Like the other challenges I am in, I would like to weigh in on Mondays, so here's my little chart:
- May 18th: 151

Hi Twins and 2! So let's do it by July 4th!!
Hi Solemn: No, you can't join, haha, just kidding. It's so great to see your posting because you and I are not only the same ages, but our kids are nearly the same ages too. Physically, our bodies are going through the same damn stuff! Wow, and it looks like our goals are about the same! So welcome aboard! I tend to get a bit busy with work these days, which of course is a good thing, but nonetheless, I do check in because it's so motivating to have online help like this. It beats the "mothers" at coffee going Ohhh My Goddd.
Anyway, let's meet this goal all together and with everyone else on this thread!

Hi all, My name is Rosanne and I am 45 and would like to join your challenge. I have been stalled at this weight for a couple of weeks now...maybe a challenge would motivate me to work harder. I am 5'4" and I started out in January at 146.6 and would like to get down to 131.

Good morning everyone. Just thought I'd check in to say hi.
I worked out extra hard this morn. because, like everyone, I can feel the weigh in lurking up ahead.Ha, ha. I find it so motivating too to be in a group like this. It makes me want to work harder and make good eating choices. I hope all is going well for Karoles hubby, and for everyone here today. I hope everyone has a lovely day...
Pam
Hello everybody...hope you are all doing well. I hope Karole's husband is fine.
Welcome Rosanne. You've done great so far. More than halfway there! Congratulations.
Alex...wine is not cheating! I love wine. I try to leave a few calories in reserve for a small glass of red wine every other night. It is my reward for being good
.
I have been sticking to it, but I did not have time to do any exercise today so I feel a bit guilty. I will work out as much as I can tomorrow to compensate.
Have a great weekend!
Hello from Amman where it is already Monday! Finally - I have started losing again
. My BMI is now normal as opposed to overweight. I am sooo happy.
Hope you are all doing great and best of luck with your weigh ins! - Sireen

Hi All, Good job Sireen and Solemn I am glad someone is losing weight...I seem to still be sitting at my plateau weight. Time to change it up a bit...maybe adjust my calories or step up the exercise....these last few pounds sure are stubborn! Have a wonderful day! Rosanne.

Good morning all!
Wow, this group is growing bigger every day. Welcome to all the new people. I have been a bit out of pocket since Thursday, when my husband had his surgery. Thanks for all the well wishes for him. He is doing pretty good. He had a very rough start and couldn't get out of bed at all to do physical therapy for the first 2 days, so he is still in the hospital. He finally did get up and take a few steps yesterday. I am really hoping that he can come home today, as I am completely exhausted. Sorry if there are any guys reading this, but men are such BABIES when they are sick or injured!
Anyway, I am really upset because this has really sabatoged my diet, and exercise, so I am feeling a very discouraged today. I am getting back on track today, and hopefully I didn't do too much damage since Thursday.
I will chat more when I have a little extra time, but for now, good luck to all, and have a wonderful day.
Karole

Hey everyone. Just thought I'd stop by and check in. Welcome back Karole, so glad to hear your hubby is better after surgery. And yes, yes YES I know about Men being babies!! That's so true
! Been there!!
I hope everyones having a good day, mine was pretty good I've been pushing myself on exercise hard and watching my fat and cals like a hawk. I was real happy with my 2.2 loss this week but next week , knowing how my bodies been doin , I may not lose anything . It's been like stop and go with me , d***n it!! I may stay the same for a couple weeks then drop a few. Aw well...
Have nice evening Talk to ya'll later....Pam
Hello everyone. Great that you are back Karole.
I am off to Sharm Al Sheikh (Egypt) with some friends for a short bridge holiday tomorrow morning. I will be back on Monday just in time for the weigh in which I am dreading....I will try to be good. I hope I can limit the wine and vodka during the vacation. Should be better for the bridge as well as the diet! I should swim every day instead of lounging on the beach drinking vodka. I hope that the heat will put me off food.
It took me ages to pack. I had to try everything on because many of my clothes are too big. I did not realize how much smaller I have become. I had bought a dress for the gala dinner when I was visiting the US three months ago. I have never worn it and when I tried it on it looked really funny (I am not complaining...I really hate all my fat clothes, new or old!).
All the best and enjoy the rest of the week!...Sireen
Good morning ,
Where is everyone?? Just thought I'd stop by to check in and just say hello.
Is everyone ready for weigh in tomorrow? I am, I think. Weigh ins on Monday are a blessing and a curse because it keeps me on track thru the ever-so-tough weekends, I'm pretty good about staying under cals but work outs are a bit tougher since there's usually so much going on around here and I'm a morning work outer(Iget up at 5am) and some times I just don't wanna get up so early, lol. Hope ya'll have a good day...Pam

Well done Pam! Where is everybody else?
I have upped my calorie intake a bit over the last couple of days. When I lost over a kilo really quickly after the vacation I noticed that my upper arms were 'wobbly', same with the rest of me but less obvious. I decided to eat a little bit more (still on a deficit, but not a huge one) to slow things down and give the exercise a chance to work. I am now within the normal BMI range and look fine so I am in no big hurry to get to my ideal weight. I definitely want to keep my body firm and toned, not flabby. If it means losing slowly, that is OK with me.
I am exercising every day and eating very healthy food so I hope that the scales will register a loss next week.
Just wanted to pop in to say helllo...
Sireen , I think you have a great attitude, and you're right slow and steady is the best way to go when trying to lose weight. I've seen people on here and in the "real " world, haha, who have lost very quickly then turned around and put it right back on, heck I've done the same thing myself!! About 8 years ago I lost 30 lbs. very quickly and very stupidly by basically starving myself (I lived on mostly salad) and I looked horrible when I'd gotten down to the 30 lb. loss, and I still had a ways to go!! I turned around and put it and some more right back on within a year!! One of the problems was I didn't exercise because I didn't have the energy to and also I didn't change any habits. I didn't learn from the experience. This time I'm doing this at a slower and healthier way, I'm thinking of it as a life change instead of a diet...After I do get to my goal I want to not only keep the weight off but do so in a healthy way. I've learned so much since beginning this adventure about nutrition and why I ate the way I did ...Good luck to you. You look great in the new picture by the way...See ya Monday...Pam
Hello there!
Thanks for the nice words and compliment Pam, it is so sweet of you to say that and I really appreciate it. Many, many thanks for sharing your experience.
I do not have any real experience with weight loss because when I was young I was one of those lucky people who could eat everything and never gain weight. I quit smoking when I was 35 and gained a lot, but I was so underweight to start with that I looked better. Problems started when I was 40, gaining a little bit at a time although I started smoking again. Earlier this year, I gained a whole lot more after a vacation in the US. I decided that enough was enough, I had to do something about it. I am also planning to stop smoking as soon as I get to my goal weight (I've cut down a lot). I've never tried to lose big amounts of weight before so I am learning a lot from everybody else's experience.
I have been learning a lot from CC. This is a great site. The tools are really helpful. I have met many wonderful people here (like you
) and the support network is absolutely amazing. I thought I was eating healthy food before I started but now I know that I did not have a clue! I am thinking of this as a life change, same as you. I think this is the key to success and health.
I'll get right back after I weigh myself...
