Is eating one chocolate bar a day that bad?

Quote  |  Reply

Eversince ed recovery, i developed chocolate addiction and simply cannot get through the day without eating a bar. Id either get a pack of m&ms OR mars OR a hersheys bar and get pretty satisfied. I dont necessarily need to have more than 1-2. But i need one to survive lol. I eat about 37g a day. Is that bad??? Plus im havin exams so i crave and rely on them more for a little boost and comfort

You are recovering from an ed. Eat what you crave. Chocolate is not bad, have you read about the antioxidants it contains? Haha. Well, really, eat a bar if you crave it. It's totally fine. I'm recovering from an ed as well, and I crave muffins/pastries. I HAVE to eat a muffin a day. Yesterday, I ate 3 muffins, a slice of chocolate cake, and a slice of apple cake. And you know what? I had no guilty feelings after. I plan to eat a muffin today too...xD

Our needs are much more than what an average person requires. Our bodies needto repair themselves. Having a balanced diet is important (make sure you are getting all the nutrients you require) and eating a chocolate bar too is not bad at all.

Happy gaining =)

no i dont see this as bad at all , infact i think you should feel proud of yourself. as long as you arnt substituting your chocolate for your meals which i presume you are not .a bit of what you fancy does you good xx

Yay! Thanks guys :) i actually found a site that says milk chocolate is best for a little boost in concentration and memory right before a test according to a study. Im having my computer exam tomorrow where we have to memorize all these horrible formulas. Perfect timing because i saved up to try that hersheys milk chocolate with caramel! ( havent tried it so im excited) oh and wow muffins! Love them :) had like 5 cookies today to extra challenge my ED

well done keep up the good work hope the exam goes well xx

NO way, I say that treats are good. I make room for either an ice cream or some chocolate every day. Do what feels right and don't let there be guilt associated with eating. Food is fuel and you can always make room for a chocolate treat Tongue out

just brush your teeth after, but do enjoy your daily treat!

Haha yea, you have no idea how many treats i usually give myself a day. Im only worried about tooth decay or getting diabetic when i grow up. Or am i just paranoid. Anyway, most part of my conscience tells me "hey just eat! Your a growing teen!" which pretty much convinces me haha.

(edit*) oh and wanted to ask how many bars/grams of chocolate is too much a day?

Ohh I know what you mean. After watching that Oprah show on diabetics, I'm terrified of eating anything with sugar in it!

Exactly what ChixTwix said...you are recovering from an ED!  I am also in recovery from an ED and I crave soooooo many sweets and into my 5th month.  It's completely normal to crave a candy bar, chocolate.  It's all part of recovery.  I have cookies, chocolate, candy everyday, so you shouldn't feel guilty for having a bag of M&M's.  So, if you crave it eat it because you deserve it.
