5'4 94-96 pound girl that is in the process of recovering. I've been eating 1,300-1,400 cals a day, which is higher for me but I know I probably need more. It's been really hard upping my calories, but I wanted to know why I feel weird. For the past few days I've been a little bit dizzy and sometimes get hot randomly. Also,I'll start to feel like I'm swaying even if I'm still. Can anyone tell me why this is going on? I also would like to know if I feel hungry, should I just eat? I usually get really hungry later at night,is that a problem? Thank you so much for any advice or support I really do appreciate it! Also I'm sorry if this was too long or ramble-y!

I think you should see a doctor to check that everything is alright. If you're in a very early stage of refeeding and you've jumped from less than 1000 cals a day then you can experience electrolyte imbalance which can be dangerous (refeeding syndrome). If you really don't feel well then it would be an idea to see a doctor out of hours or go to the hospital. I think it would be better to err on the side of caution.

It's great to hear that you have upped your calories. Yes you will need more. If you're under 21 then the recommended daily recovery intake is 2500-3000 calories per day, Over 21 then the recommended recovery intake is 2000-2500 calories per day. The body needs alot of extra energy in order to repair damage caused to your organs and to reuild muscles and healthy fat stores.

Hunger is your body telling you that it needs more.

Good luck sweetie, I wish you well in your recovery and I hope you are feeling better soon.

xx

As added info I was eating about 1,000-1,200 or 1,100 a day
