Hi all, I've been losing weight since February of this year and have dropped about 50 pounds. Went from 210 to 160 (my weigh-in this morning). I've been losing slowly and steadily, been eating about 1200 to 1700 calories a day depending on my activity level for that day / week. I'm trying to lose about 30 more pounds (I'm 5'6").
I have super thick hair and lose hair all the time in the shower and when I brush. I started noticing last month that I was losing more hair than normal. Then this month I started clogging the darn shower drain with my hair at the end of the week. My head is starting to feel like it has less hair and my hair growth has significantly slowed down. I could grow an inch a month and I'm scheduled for a cut tomorrow and it's probably unnecessary from the looks of things.
I'm taking a vitamin and calcium supplement, I've worked hard to avoid ketosis and anything that was unhealthy to keep myself balanced and in a good weight loss zone. What is going on?
Here's my diet:
Morning:
Shredded wheat
Milk
Banana
Lunch:
Bread
Ham
Lettuce
Cheese
Snack:
Carrots
Apples
Granola
Dinner:
Lettuce
Eggs
Cheese
Cottage Cheese
Benefiber Fiber Supplement
There are many things I can't eat because I suffer from migraines and food triggers them, such as citrus and anything artificial, the vitamins I take are flintstones because those are the only ones that don't trigger my migraines for some reason.. LOL. I am limited to whole foods mainly, nothing boxed. This diet was mainly to get me to lose weight and to teach me how to live in my new restricted world.
I would have your ferritin levels checked because it sounds like you could be iron deficient. Same thing has happened to me (hair kept falling out) twice due to iron deficiency. It can also make you feel tired, and dizzy when it gets really bad.
Wow! OK, thank you for this reply because slight dizziness has happened lately and I didn't even think of that. I will start slamming down some iron and see if that helps.

I would have yourself checked out just in case it is not low iron and it's also can be toxic to your system if you supplement your iron with out having your levels checked. Another sign is being over tired.
From what the doctors told me about the symptoms I reported when I was low on iron-it apparently feels like symptoms of pregnancy (I have never been pregnant but this is what I have been told)
What you eat can have a direct effect on your skin if you're struggling with psoriasis. See what to shop for.
