Any inspiring quotes to recovery??

Quote  |  Reply

I'm trying to recover from bulimia, and I have found that really powerful quotes usually help me keep my eye on the prize (recovery, woot woot!)  I just had a binge (2 bowls cookie dough ice cream, 1/2 cup melted chocolate chips, slab of lasagna and some BBQ chips....****), and feel like absolute crap and just need some words to get me through it.

I'm 5'5" and 126 lbs, I was on a really good path, but I can feel everything starting up again :( and all I think about is losing more weight, and better ways to lose weight, and what and when to eat to lose weight.  Help!!

I like some of these:

"We don't see things are they are, we see them as we are."

- Anaïs Nin

"And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more."

- Erica Jong

"When I'm pushing myself, testing myself, that's when I'm happiest. That's when the rewards are greatest."

- Sissy Spacek

"I finally figured out the only reason to be alive is to enjoy it."

- Rita Mae Brown

Hello :) I'm currently recovering from anorexia and it can be HELL. The thing to remember is, you have proved you can lose weight, what else are you trying to prove and to who? Life is so much better without an eating disorder but only YOU can decide if you want to escape it. Sometimes it is so tireing to fight those thoughts in your head but just remember those "thoughts" about not being good enough, not thin enough, not pretty enough etc etc.. they are THOUGHTS, not FACTS! They are things that YOU believe, but that others would laugh at.

Here are some of the mantras I use on day to day basis to remind myself of what I'm aiming for:

Have no fear perfection, you'll never reach it- Salvador Dahlí

Look after your body, it is the only place you have to live- Jim Rohn

Everything has beauty, but not wveryone sees it- Confucius

Keep fighting xxx
