Joined a Goodlife Fitness gym today
I'm going back to college very soon (starting Monday), and while I belong to a gym that is roughly 20 minutes down the road from me now, I an doubting that I will make the time/effort to continue to do my workouts religiously like I do now, once I start my program. (go big or go home when it comes to schooling- you're paying to be there, do your very best!!)
After considering this, I didn't like the sound of it. I have become accustomed to my daily workout, and don't want to give it up. Just as I was contemplating what to do, I realized that there was a Goodlife Fitness right next door to the college.
Under usual circumstances, I wouldn't have looked twice at a Goodlife Fitness. Mostly because they are far away from where we live (I am commuting a fair distance everyday for this school), and they have always struck me as appearing very expensive for a membership. But, I figured, I'm here, I may as well take a look and say I tried for another possibility.
The place is HUGE! It was my first time in one, like I said. Numerous machines as far as the eye could see, and, what, what was this? A pool? Oh Mr. Goodlife Fitness, I detest you for your cruelty and tormenting awesome ways!
Anyway, I tell the girl who was helping me that location wasn't an issue, as I was going to school right here anyway, and would workout before and/or after classes before going home for the night; but what was the issue, was how much it was. "I'm paying a very low gym membership price right now at the one I belong to." I said wearily.
She gave me the numbers. $3 more per month then I am paying for the gym I am at now. For endless machines, a pool, lockers, and showers.
I nearly fainted, and signed myself up. Granted, it's a contract you're locked into, but even that turned out to be fine- the contract is the same length as my program.
And that, dear readers, is the tale of my first Goodlife Fitness membership. After seeing the place today, I'm very excited to start there!
Does anyone else belong to a Goodlife Fitness? Is it as magical as it looks? (please tell me yes!!! ;) )
Yes, I'm a member! I love my local Goodlife. Like, love. It's way smaller than yours sounds like it is, but it's still wonderful.
It's in the mall so there's no pool, but it's split into two levels. Upstairs is a cardio theatre with so many different machines (and new ones recently!) Downstairs is a full free weights and machines area, spin class/RPM bikes, and the Group Ex room. Group Ex is probably the number one reason I love my membership. Me + Les Mills (and the circuit training class, not so much a fan of Zumba) = best friends. Try getting into the classes as soon as you feel comfortable--BodyFlow is a great intro; BodyPump and BodyCombat are my other favourites.
All the staff members are so kind and enthusiastic, the facilities are spotless, the instructors are amazing, and all the equipment is always in perfect working order. Love it. LOVE IT.
Goodlife will change your life!!!! Sign yourself up for a group fitness class like Body Step or the others mentioned above...you'll be fit in no time!!
