Loss of appetite, I don't know what to do.
So, i weighed myself today and i found out that i lost weight. I am now 108lbs (5FT 11).
Although i have increased my calorie intake by around 500-600 calories, i know it hasnt been enough to maintain let alone gain.
But my issue is, i was ALWAYS hungry when i was restricting to 1,200. But now i have upped it to 1,800 calories (or tried too) i am always stuffed.
I often feel sick after meals, because i was full before i started eating!
I tried milkshakes, juice and smaller meals but its the same.
I do light exercise a day, walking which burns 300ish calories. and don't drive, so it cant be avoided.
Any advice? Suggestions? Happened to anyone else?
I can battle my ED thoughts..but its like my body itself is against my recovery too..I am worried what will happen!
Yep, hunger cues get totally messed up with EDs. I'm sorry, but it's something you'll have to deal with for a while and just push through. But if you keep eating and pushing up your calories like you need to, then you will start to feel hungry again instead of constantly stuffed. Hang in there! You know you need to gain weight no matter how your body feels... so listen to the truth and not the ED's lies. xoxo
I know you mentioned milkshakes and juice, but milkshakes can be quite filling (although they do pack calories) and juice is definitely better than water, liquids can still cause you to feel full. Have you tried smaller, more calorie dense items? Nuts, nut butters, dried fruits, that sort of thing? They shouldn't cause you to feel quite so full but can really pack in some calories (and nutrients too!). Or adding calories that take up like no "space" whatsoever... Like mayo or avocado on a sandwich, full fat dressings on salads, etc... Just a few thoughts. It will get better with time so just remember to keep pushing on.
