Here's the background info: A few weeks ago I was stupid and tried fasting for 10 days. Well, I succeeded on doing this, but right afterwards I started eating freely whatever I wanted. I added back all the weight fasting caused me to lose plus more. 4 days ago, I decided I should take a responsible approach to dieting instead of stupid stuff like fasting, and I found this site.
Jump to today, I've been sticking to the recommended calorie intake (1900 calories per day, actually I've been going over the limit by 300 or 400 every day). I've been eating only healthy things like fruit, skinless chicken breast, plain yogurt, oatmeal, etc. with the occasional whole wheat bread. Well, the newly gained weight came off so fast that I think it's unhealthy. Last night at around 8:00 I ate a pretty big piece of raisin bread and went over my calories by 200 calories. I figured I probably wouldn't lose any weight this time around, but when I weighed myself, I had lost 5 pounds! In fact, I've been losing about 1 pound a day for the other 3 days I was doing this. In total I've lost 7 pounds in 4 days. I know that's too fast to be healthy. I should be losing 1-2 pounds a week, right?
What would be causing me to lose this much weight so quickly? I know it seems weird to complain about losing weight, but losing weight this fast can't be healthy.
often when people "fast" or are in starvation mode, they quickly put on a few pounds once they begin eating normally again. and then usually, before they know it, they've lost all the weight they gained, plus more. but after your body's left "shock mode" you'll go back to losing 1-2 lbs a week, don't worry.
good for you for leaving that fasting idea behind.
Did you move the scale? Did you just go off your period? Did you weigh with your clothes off the first time and not the second?
Did you start drinking more water?
If you are eating more healthy foods and drinking more water then the majority of the weight loss is most likely due to loss of water weight and the fact that you have relatively less stuff (waste products of food) in your system than when you were eating anything you felt like.
Some people drop several pounds very quickly and then the rate tappers off. Give it a couple weeks.
This is week 3 of calorie-count for me...and I can tell you my weight loss sounds very much the same. I dropped a pound a day for several days...nothing the entire next week...then this weekend I lost 2 pounds. One would think that eating 500 calories less everyday that the weight would slowly come off...but instead it seems to come off in steps...it lays flat for awhile, then drops down...levels out for awhile then drops off again. I suppose it has something to do with the body's desire to maintain stores...but I am not sure.
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
