Never had a period!!!!!

Quote  |  Reply

So, I've never had a period, and I'm kinda old (22). I have had a period by using birth control. I'm not sexually active. My doctor has just told me to "gain weight". I have gained before but I wouldn't eat any fats. I have a history of anorexia. I have battled ups and downs with my weight ever since I was 14. I'm currently underweight at 101 pounds and 5 feet 4.5 inches. I'm eating better, trying to eat more fats and proteins such as Silk coconut milk, full fat cottage cheese and yogurt, chocolate, ice cream, tuna, eggs, chicken, etc. I haven't eaten foods with "fats" in them since way before my ED started (when I was 13).

Does anyone think that by gaining more weight, eating alot of fats, and no exercise will help me to start my period for the first time? Or am I way too late to have any hope whatsoever of ever having a period or having kids oneday? I'm afraid my eating disorder has destroyed all chances at me ever having a period, no matter what I do.

Gain more weight ( most people find that they got their period around 21+ bmis), eat alot of healthy fats and cut the excercise. Let your body mature and grow! xx

Without fats your body cannot make hormones. And since your period is regulated by hormones.... you get the drift. Conclusion: you need  fats in your food.

maybe there are fats that you don't mind too much. maybe nuts and seeds are more easily eaten. maybe a sandwich with a little bit peanut butter. Just add it slowly at your own pace.

Yes, I'm really determined to do this. My goal per day is at least 70 g of fat (if I exceed that even better) and 50g of saturated fat (again, the more the better). It can be hard to reach this goal everyday because I'm really not used to eating this much fats but some changes to "full fat" has helped, along with enjoying the daily chocolate or ice cream desert. I can't drink milk, so I've been drinking Silk coconut milk since it is high in fat.

My body seems to be developing in the womanly way for the first time. My breasts and hips are filling out and my butt is starting to be visible in pants. But I know I still have a long way to go. I am embracing these changes, they make me feel so beautiful.
