LOCKED TOPIC
-Nevermind-
-Screw it-
Reason: Locked. poster deleted original post and the thread now makes no sense.
no its ridiculous. that will give you a bmi of 15.
no one here will support you in your bid to do this.
"I like weight loss, I get a high when I see the number on the scale go down." - from your profile.
THIS IS A PROBLEM, especially at your weight and goal weight.

i cant believe you had the audacity to post such a stupid question.
Well, I didn't know that. I thank you for your gracious answer.
Seriously, there is no need to be rude. I didn't know that low of a weight was all that bad, but I was wondering if it was bad. HENCE why I posted up this topic to ask if it WAS healthy. I want to be healthy, I don't want to be unhealthy anymore, but I don't know where to start.
I can't believe you had the audacity to answer my concern with rudeness.
I made a mistake to join this site to get help and advice for what is healthy and what is not.
If my calculations are correct, you're over 6 feet tall, and weigh 135 pounds and want to get to 120 pounds?
I really don't think it would healthy at all. Given that you talk about a girlfriend in another thread, and given that you are over 6 feet tall, I'm assuming you are a male.
You're only 18 years old, and you aren't necessarily even done growing. MMen continue to "fill out" arms, shoulders, chest, (and even grow taller) during their late teens and early twenties.
I 'm not trying to be rude, but I think maybe you have a problem, because 135 pounds on someone over 6 feet tall is not fat, and having a BMI of less than 18% is not particularly healthy.
I can't imagine that you even have any muscle at that height and weight.

fidget is very, very blunt. That's just how she is. However, any research you could do on your own would have told you that trying to lose 5-6kg (roughly what, 12-14lbs?) in a month, especially when you're already at a healthy weight for your height, is extremely unhealthy. Healthy weight loss is anywhere between .5-2lbs a week.
fidget is *also* a doctor. And has gone through the horror that is an eating disorder. She is straight up telling you the truth, partly because she's been there, and partly because reaching for a BMI of 15 is very, very unhealthy.
If you feel like you have too much body fat, work out and tone your muscles. You also have to eat enough to tone and build the muscles. You'll weigh more, but you'll have the body that you want. It will also be much healthier than to try to get to a BMI that could eventually kill you.

There is a difference between being blunt and being rude. She was being rude. She would have been 'just blunt' if she said 'No, that isn't healthy because it would put your BMI at 15 and is dangerous for your health'.
Calling me an idiot and acting like I don't deserve to breathe oxygen for trying to ask a question I honestly did not know the answer to is rude.
I am sorry she had to deal with an eating disorder, and I'm glad she is a doctor, but if that is the kind of 'help' people insist on giving here, I'm leaving.
no.
no there is no rudeness here. what you are aiming for is ridiculous. attempting to put your weight into that range will shatter you physically - a conscious knowledge of this and then asking a board of people who promote a healthy and sensible approach to weight loss, is asking for trouble.
i called you an idiot out of sheer frustration. if you decide to wake up and address what are clearly disordered thinking patterns - then i fully retract my statement.
it doesnt denote from this silly 1st statement of :i am 190.5cm and wish to be 54.5kg. ridiculous`

i called you an idiot out of sheer frustration. if you continue your attempts to get into that weight range, i stand by the name i called you. if you decide to wake up and address what are clearly disordered thinking patterns - then i fully retract my statement.

I am sorry for snapping at you when you where trying to help.
I am frustrated because for a long, long, long time I was told what I was doing was 'healthy' and any other way was unhealthy. At my highest weight I was called 'fat' by my family, friends, neighbours, school kids, whatever. Only time I could get them to stop bugging me was when I was 54 kg, only then did people leave me alone.
I seriously did not know it was that bad. To be honest, I only recently learned what BMI even was.
OP--Sorry about your experience. You are right, there is a huge difference between someone giving you honest, compassionate advice and being rude. You should have not been mistreated.
Some people are so caught-up in themselves that they fail to see others as emotional beings. I especially think that it is horrible when they attack people they perceive to have a disorder. This type of behavior is not a "reality" check, but a destructive blow to self-esteem.
Excusing rude behavior, such as name calling, is also a problem as well. When one makes excuses for others' bad behavior, they are encouraging it. Saying that it is okay to tear-down others because they have a "good" reason is unacceptable--I don't care who you are.
I agree that you are aiming for an unhealthy weight. (Please know that eating disorders affect men as well as women. It is not gender biased.) I hope that you talk to your physician about this. He/she is more qualified to answer your questions regarding this matter.
Be healthy. Stay happy.
i tend not to be bothered with posts where people bash me.so i didnt read the above
so.... given that you were under some pretty dodgey beliefs, i retract my comment about calling you an idiot.
clearly you've suffered at the hands of others. 54.5kg is a min bmi for me... i am 169cm. for you it would cripple you and put your body under serious strain. you may not want to hear this but you need to gain weight.
currently your bmi is still severly underweight. you sound (tho this is not a clinical dx) that you are suffering body dismorphic disorder. this is more common in males than females.
what does your healthy diet include??
we cool?

Yes, we are 'cool' 8) haha.
I posted up a bulletin in the weight gaining forum to get a start there. I am hoping that I can get to a good weight but not over do it, yes?
I'm vegetarian, but recently moved on to veganism with my girlfriend because we both have strong beliefs in animal rights, and after finding out about the horrible things that happens to animals -well, yes. I eat a lot of veggies, fruit, whole grains, seeds and nuts -sometimes-, thought it is mostly fruits and vegetables and some grains .
yeah you can be a healthy weight and not overdo it...... its great. you can eat anything in moderation :D
i support the vegetarian thing, but easy on the vegan thing. it can be hard to eat an adequate diet on the vegan thing (*vegans feel free to correct me*). they can tend to be low in cals often. and it can also mask as an excuse to severly restrict eating.
there's some great help available on this site. you can eat really well. you dont need to starve and you dont need to suffer. you also do not need to have a very underweight bmi.... (and in your photo you look v thin and gaunt). you can be healthy, happy and eat!! its great!
