I'm 21 years old and 2 years ago i was diagnosed with PCOS. I rarely got my period (about 5 or 6 times in a year), mild acne and excess body hair (including face, chest, and back) I went to my GP and they prescribed me with the Contraceptive Pill Diane (i've being on it for just under 2 years). Ever since being on the pill, i get really bad mood swings and sometimes feel really depressed and emotional over little things. I was always such a happy person. My sex drive has decreased as well. However i do get regular periods, clear skin and my excess hair is a bit better than before (I still am hairy due to my italian heritage).
I asked my GP if there was a better way to maintain PCOS and she said i should stay on the Pill until i want to get pregnant. I really don't want to stay on the Pill and prefer to do it naturally, however i've read a lot on people getting off the Pill and having terrible side effects.
I would just like some advice on what to do because i feel like no one i know understands or can help me.
Also for those with excess body hair, i really want to go to Europe for a few months and travel but the only thing that's holding me back is that i don't know how i'm going to maintain waxing every 3-4 weeks :/
Any advice would be great! Thanks :-)
Hello! I have a really good friend who sounds very close to your story. She was diagnosed with PCOS and had really bad acne and excessive body hair. She went on the pill and and hated it's side effects also. She ended the pill due to it's side effects and went vegetarian (most of the time) and focused on organic foods and plant based diets. This has done wonders for her! She has lost 40 lbs and now has a regular period all on her own! This was done over the period of about a year and she works out most days as well. This is most definitely a natural way to maintain. Hope this helps :)
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
