Got my period back, but its gone again :[
So I got my period back on the 1st Nov after not having it for a year. And this month . . nothing!!. I am clearly past my due date and starting to fret a little. Is it normal to be irregular? after an ED. I haven't lost any weight so it can't be that. Also, I don't think it is my exercising because I only do 20 mins of leg strength exercises, 10 mins of cardio and 1-1.5 hours of walking a day. I know it is normal for some women to be irregular but before I had an ED by periods were very regular.
Often your period is irregular when it first comes back, but to be blunt, I think the main issue for you is that your BMI is only 17.9, and you are exercising for 2 hours a day. Someone on another thread said their hospital team told them that getting just one period doesn't mean you are recovered - getting them back REGULARLY is what matters (or whatever was regular for you before your ED).
At BMI 17.9 it is extremely unlikely that you are fully recovered. If you could increase your intake (2,500+, you know the drill!!) and cut your exercise until your weight reaches the healthy range, you will hopefully find it gets regular again.
I have been trying really hard with getting my cals up, I've managed to hit 2200 up from 1700 :]. I know I need to get up to 2500 and I intend to this week, which should be easy peasy with it being xmas week :].
My BMI was 17.9 around 3 weeks ago, haven't weighed myself since then. Kind of afraid too incase I've gained a lot of weight, I don't want to be put off because this is the best I've done calorie wise through the whole of my recovery. All my clothes fit exactly the same though so don't think I could have gained too much, which is reassuring because I never thought I'd get away with eating more and maintain cus I've always gained on below 2000.
I suppose I'll just have wait and see. If they haven't come back in a month, looks like I'll have to cut down on the exercising . . . not gonna lie this makes me feel slightly uncomfortable :[
Hayley, you have done so well - but keep going!! You can do this!! :-)
This is Very strange but . . . I've just come on my period pahaa. Panic over! :]
Such a strange and gross topic, only 100% curiosity brought me here. lol For some reason I thought you were talking about motivation or workout cycle. Oopps. haha

not really a gross topic, thats the kind of response i would expect from a teenage boy.
anyway, glad to hear is has come back hayley! it will probably just be irregular for a while but im sure it will settle out before too long :) keep up the good work, your doing really well :) next time you weigh yourself dont be upset by any gains, if your clothes look the same then what does it matter if the scales say you are up a few lbs :)
i always have to tell myself stuff like that before i step on, tell my self i look okay so if i have gained, then thats great cause i still look fine :)

I agree with annabel on this one, some women who have suffered from an ED and are desperate to get their periods back, I don't think something that will allow you to make a life in the future is gross.
Thankyou annabel :]. Yeah my mum said to me they might be irregular but I always over think things and panic way too much aha. Yeah I'm SUPER nervous about weighing myself :[ I'm going to leave it till after new year I think so I can enjoy the next 2 weeks, because I know if I've gained I'll be thinking too much when it comes to eating nice food over xmas, and I definitely don't want that food is too good at xmas time aha :P. That is a really great way of coping with it, I will definitely bare that in mind when it comes to stepping on the scales, thankyou sweet :] xxx
Good idea, im not weighing myself again till the new year either, i plan on gaining a few lbs, but i dont want to weight too soon cause of water/food weight, that would just be a recipe for disaster haha :P No problems hun :) hope you enjoy your christmas either way :)xxx

Actually, I find a middle aged 'fitness guru' (wft?) trawling girls' messages about periods a bit creepy... sorry Kettch, but we ain't laughin'...
Interesting, someone with anorexia is judging someone. Someone have daddy issues growing up?
I wasnt 'trawling' either and yes as a US Marine and part time OBY/GYN aid I have a vested interested in women issues when it comes to health and well being. Not funny perhaps. But wasnt trying to be creepy.
But since you came off as a prick...

okay hold up, are you trying to say people with anorexia have less right to judge people than anyone else, and that we have daddy issues. Cause i didnt have a problem with you before, but if your going to pretend like you are better than people who are strong enough to beat something like anorexia, then now i do.
Also, kind of not appropriate to call people a prick. Maybe just no one got your first joke?
Kettch00 that message is totally out of order!!. You don't have to call people a prick, there is seriously no need its just vile and very offensive. And as for saying, "Interesting, someone with anorexia is judging someone" >> what exactly do you mean by this?!? because I don't think you mean well. Plus, everyone made a judgement on what you said, so you created that judgement yourself!. This is a sensitive and important subject to most women on this site, so obviously by saying that its "such a strange and gross topic" you are going to get a negative reaction of people.

Lol!! Wow, looks like I rattled a cage here!! Maybe 'Daddyo' has a problem with being called middle aged?
As a US Marine OB/GYN aid who finds periods 'gross', don't you think you might be in the wrong job?? ![]()
