Skin Problems
Hi everyone just wondered if anyone could share any advice/tips/experiences with the following problem.
My skin condition isn't good at the best of times -well, one or two spots but they are always fairly red against my pale skin complexion and take FOREVER to heal - 2-3weeks - but I've got some exams coming up and stress has led to this problem becoming more pronounced :( I now have a couple of blemishes and they are really red (not inflamed though) and the redness just will not fade!
Is there anyway I can quickly reduce the redness? It's really embarrassing.
Also, with regard to the fact that my skin takes 2-3+ weeks to heal - does anyone know why it's taking so long? Nobody else I know seems to have this kind of problem.
Thanks in advance :)
Hi, I just read your post and I have a few ideas that might help. For the redness try using visine, dab a few drops on the area and it should take the redness out. As far as the speeding up of the healing there is a product called Herbal choice facial blemish treatment, it's roughly $12.95, but it speeds the healing process up with natural herbs and vitamins.

They also have some other amazing products! I hope this will help.

Thanks for replying! Only trouble is I live in the UK so these products aren't available to me here.
I've been applying Savlon Skin Healing Cream and a Neutrogena Rapid Action ointment but neither of them have made much difference at all. And trying to cover it with make up seems to make it look even worse :(
Some things which i find help are tea tree (for the actual spots - it can help reduce redness and has antibacterial / antiseptic properties) - superdrugs have a great range of tea tree spot treatments and oils for very reasonable prices! Also drink lots of water and avoid too many sugary foods - i've heard this recommended a lot and i find my skin is always best when im well hydrated!
and to help fade the blemishes apparently you can use natural products which you have at home depending on your skin type:
cucumber and lemon - for oily skin
honey and lemon - for dry skin
apply to proplem area for 15 minutes and wash off! But the key thing is time - im afraid that scarring from spots isnt something that just goes away with a click of the fingers - but with time they should disappear.
I know what you mean about it being embarrassing - i suffer from the same thing and it can be really depressing at times! Especially when im stressed out from exams (like at the moment). Anyway, best of luck and hope it works out for you. x
If it's stress related, there is not a whole lot you can do to stop stops appearing. The horone released for stress is cortisol and makes the sebacious glands go into overdrive thus producing more oil which increases the likely hood of getting spots.
The best thing i have ever done - the oil cleansing method with a facial steamer (instead of hot washcloth)
You should be able to get a facial steamer really cheap from the likes of wallmart etc id imagine. Check out oil cleansing method.com and read he page. I use a mix of castor and organic sunflower oil. I used to be very pale and now my skin glws and it sorted out my spots really quickly. I suffer from stress acne and this year with my thesis etc i got a bad outbreak that lasted and this didi the trick. Works wonders for some, doesnt work for others. Only way to find out is to try. You should be able to get the oils and steamer for arounf 30-40$
Cleanse, tone and moisturise every morning and night. Never fails to make my skin look loads better. Just make sure you use light moisturisers so you don't overload your skin with more oil. I know a beautician that says not to spend a fortune on any skin products because the Boots own brand cucumber stuff is great. And 2nd the tea tree suggestion. You can also steam your face over hot water and a little tea tree every so often. Very refreshing, relaxing and effective.
I don't know about any quick fixes, but the best thing I ever did for my complexion was to start drinking at least a gallon of water a day. After about a month, I had a complexion like I haven't had since before puberty. :P
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
