I have not been to the toilet for 14 days.....and counting!!! Please help if you can.

I have not posted on here for a long long time but I needed to enquire if anyone has any ideas to help me.

I have long term chronic conditions which have casued my to looses weight and muscle. My BMI is now approx 12.7 yet because I have not anorexia the hospital have not taken me in to intervene and support. I have been waiting since September for  a NG to be inserted or PEG to bypass the part of my stomach not working.

My GP is a wonderful man and can not understand why my Gastro doc is dragging his heals. I had a barrium a month ago nearly which took 5.5 hours to get the where they wanted it to under the x ray. The consultant and my dietiton agree I need urgent feeding intervention, yet advised I would be in danger if I took more Ensure than the x4 I am on.(I eat as well), due to my interanal organs, heart etc being damaged/weak.

I am so fed up, weak, confused and no one can make out what is happening. My GP contacted PALs at the hospital, we wait to hear.

I am now off work as too ill to work. I love my work, but I know doc is right.

Why am I not getting treatment? I pay my NI and work hard? It is so distressing. I have not private cover to support myself. (Grumbel grumble)

My problem today, I have not had my bowels open for 14 days! I usually go every 10 days, but this is the worst it has been. I do not feel the need to go, but my food is in my upper stomach, not going down and I can taste it! It is no fun!

I have prescribed laxactive which do not work, mum bought me some senna which I had x2 off 2 nights ago and nothing. I do not want to take any further meds as they do not help me.

I need any ideas please to help me feel more comfortable and less sickly.

Many thanks and thank you for reading.

you need to go to a doctor!

I would go to the doctor right away!

Things you could do to help while you wait: Snack on dried fruit, coconut, carrots, nuts, and other fibrous foods! Make sure you're drinking 6-8+ glasses of water a day. There are a few gentle yoga poses you can do to help 'stimulate' your bowels.

besides going to a doctor, you need to increase calories. i'm not sure about refeeding syndrome especially because your weight is so low and sickly.

you are extremely sick. you are in need of urgent medical care, not only for your constipation, but for your extremely deteriorating health.&nbs p;

Oh geez. I really hope you don't die, seriously. They say 14 days is the longest a person can go without a bowel movement before they die of toxic shock. You need to go to the ER and tell them to pump you out because this is really serious. After that, you need to get on a feeding tube because you are one of the skinniest people I've ever heard of. Really. That's a ridiculously low BMI and your whole body and brain are basically shut-down. Feeding tube, then try eating on your own, and get to a healthy BMI. I'm scared for you!

I think you know the doc's is the place you need to go... The emergency room would be my first choice.

It sounds to me like on top of everything else, you are impacted to some extent.  My child went through this and he had to ingest mineral oil (I am not suggesting that, by the way), but more importantly -- from the other end... suppository laxative.  Not as invasive as an enema (which would also probably work, but I wouldn't recommend), nor as forceful as an oral laxative.

Unfortunately, the other alternatives are surgery (I certainly hope you don't have to go through that), or manual extraction. Yes, my kid DID have to go through that -- the problem being that the feces closes to the end simply don't have enough liquid to be maleable enough to be pushed through.

I hope you are able to get help, and soon

All of the above. I'm not the praying kind, but I really, really hope you come back in a few weeks to tell us you're in hospital and getting the treatment you desperately need.

You are at critical point.

Go to hospital. Phone an ambulance if need be.

You need to be fed on a tube as refeeding syndrome can happen at any BMI (technically) but is a massive risk at BMI <13. Sounds like the Coeliac's disease is putting your body under too much strain. Your colon needs to be cleansed.

Pitsea knows only too well that she needs tube feeding - unfortunately the NHS believes in making you wait!!

I think A&E is your only choice at this point. You have an emergency situation which cannot wait any longer - that is what they are for (allegedly!!)

Seriously, you would be triaged as fairly high priority and should be seen in a couple of hours. Muchlinski is right, you are at risk of poisoning at this point. - Who knows? you might even get a doctor who is in a position to help you get your NG a bit quicker too!

Good luck!

No wait, that came out wrong.

Go to the hospital.

GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM!!!

Don't read this part, but if you have and you haven't yet gone to the emergency room,

STOP and GO to the emergency room NOW.

Oh my god pitsea - it's been so long since we last messaged each other and i can't believe you're still at 12.7! My dear you NEED to go to the hospital, everyone here is so worried about you! I also hope you're not being as active as you were several months ago! I really really hope you seek medical intervention asap especially with the current situation of your bowels (there's a sentence i never thought i'd say)!

We're all thinking of you x

I'm not sure Pitsea really wants/needs rudeness and flippancy at this point... :/

I appreciate this. Sometimes it takes tough love. Asking what to do in an emergency on a forum is reckless and misguided.

Did OP die, or did she go to the hospital?  I surely hope she went to the hospital.

(p.s., I'm not being macabre, I just really hope that she's okay.  I realize that it sounds harsh...)
