VEINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quote  |  Reply

how come on my legs (calves, thighs, on top of my foot) i have green veins that are visible??

they're the worst on my foot.
i've heard from a teacher that the reason why there are veins on top of your foot is because you stand in one place for too long.
but i don't know WHY this happens?!

is this the same with the veins showing on your calves and thighs??

is this okay or unhealthy?

i do NOT like them!! they don't look nice!! and im worried that they may become more clear and ugly!!

could they been caused by weight lifting or running on the treadmill?!

i don't know if i can make them disappear though...  sounds pretty much impossible...

arrrghh... what can i dooooooooooooo?!

I'm afraid it's not OK at all... I strongly recommend that you go and see your doctor about it. I am not one, so it's not a professional opinion, but both standing for too long and working out too much may contribute to the problem, especially if you are prone to vein problems (may be genetical). Also, apparently too hot showers or baths can make vein problems worse. Please don't neglect it and get a medical opinion.

have they always been there or are they new?

i swear, i'm so pale that you can see every vein in my body, but i don't think that there's anything that can be done about it.

I have the same thing, and I agree, it IS gross. I used to just have these spidery blue and purple and deep red veins at the place where my knees bend, but now they're all on the sides and backs of my legs, and I've even noticed a few in my stomach and one or two on my FACE. Ew. My mom has them too, and I'm super, super pale, so I can trace almost ALL of my regular veins too. It's not pretty, but my mom (she's a medical professional) said they're not dangerous or anything, just not pretty to look at. You can get rid of them by laser surgery, but that's about it. You're not alone, and not unhealthy, just unlucky!

can you get rid of regular veins too? i mean, not get rid of, but make them less visible? i'm tired of looking like a road map.

Just a couple of nights ago I was sitting outside with my older sister and she was like, eww, you can see all of the veins in your leg. That's gross. That was the first time I realized how visible my veins are! I'm not really sure why...but I'm not too worried about it. I don't know that there's anything you can do.

I have red and purple veins I think they are called thread veins... I also heard about the hot bath thing... anyone got any more knowledge about veins?!

have they always been here.... i don't know..... i don't think so....?

maybe there were SOME veins before, but maybe not as much as now... i don't know...

but THEY JUST DON'T LOOK NICE!!

gosh.... i really hope there is a cure to this...

im not pale. so it's not that much of the thickness of the skin issue or anything like that...

ughhh.. what is this?@!?!? =(((((((((((

Try looking up varicose veins.

I too am disgusted by the veins in my legs! I have tried to research this and have found that it is mostly hereditary. I also have heard that crossing your legs when sitting increases the appearance of them. This is a hard habit to break! My mom has these veins, but much worse. I am scared that when I am her age they will get as bad as hers. I wish there was some other way to stop these things without surgery!

i've noticed my thighs are super veiny recently too.  this article is helpful for explaining how exercise can bring on the veins.   also, it suggests a "cool down" period after intense leg cardio as well as ice packs.  i read here  and here that constantly stressful exercise can cause the veins, so they recommend switching up your routine bet high and low impact exercises.

AH... so it can be caused by too much intense work out... i think that's why i have it.. although my mom's legs are pretty pale and i can see veins in hers as well...

thank you SO MUCH for the articles CCM!!

at least there's some aesthetic motivation to cutting down on the cardio...

oooooh so THAT'S why mine have gotten so much worse lately! I also sleep in the fetal position but sort of, tilted on my front, and I sit with my legs crossed pretty much ALL the time, so my poor vein-y legs never get a break! I think I'm just going to have to get over it though. At least their shape will be nice!

- hahahahaha!! that's so trueee!!Laughing

torpidire

- wait... sitting with your legs crossed could cause more veins to appear?! really? gahhH! so then how am i supposed to sit down if there's no back support (e.g. chair) ???? stretch my legs out straight?!?! im doing that right now, and it's NOT comfortable hahahFoot in mouth

actually, sitting w/your legs crossed is bad for your back.  dunno if you're familiar w/the alexander technique, which recommends sitting on a sloped surface.  it's true that sitting at 135 degrees is proven to be healthier than sitting at 90.   but i don't sit on a sloped surface.  however, i also don't lean back in chairs.  i just sit upright, as if chairs were stools.  i'm a court reporter, so posture is really important to prevent back pain: sit upright, feet flat on the floor, as this article suggests.

caloriecountingme

- wow... didnt know that.... so maybe i shouldn't sit upright afterall.....

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!Yell i just checked out your pics and you are SO muscularrrrrrr!! expect a message from me soon........VERY soon........
