What's the point?

I know I just posted a topic but yeah...

So, I really don't get the point in eating 3,000 calories a day when recovering from anorexia?
Like I said before, I'm 15, been anorexic for about 4-5 months, lost 28 pounds, ate under 1000 calories a day, but I'm 5'8", 124 pounds, and I don't see why I need to eat SO many calories? Can't I just maintain at like 1,600-1,900...? I'm constantly bloated, and I'm forcing myself to eat.
I haven't actually gotten up to 3,000 yet, I'm probably staying in about 1,500 but even this seems like just tons of food, how am I supposed to eat 3,000? I'm really not that hungry when I eat except for breakfast but other than that I'm not hungry the rest of the day and it feels like a waste to eat when I'm really not hungry.

And considering I've only been anorexic for 4-5 months and my lowest weight has been 123.6, I don't see why I need such a dramatic intake of calories? Can't I just eat like a normal person does, around 1,900 calories a day and only when I'm truly hungry? It's so frustrating, I feel like I'm gaining so much weight and I think my parents are starting to wonder why I'm suddenly eating so much more.

I assume you are under the care of a doctor. That being said, it's going to be okay. It must be difficult to eat that many calories but there IS a reason why. Follow the doctors advice and give yourself the time to heal. Keep in mind that you are a beautiful person, one worthy of the care and health you are striving to attain. Keep that in mind during the tough times. Hugs!

Thanks for your kind words :)

I'm actually not under the care of a doctor, my parents don't know, that's the thing. I don't see the point in going to all that trouble when I'm not even under weight?

You are currently at the very low end of normal, a bmi of 19.  The normal range is from 18.5-24.9.  The point of eating that much, and I still haven't managed to figure out how to do it, is to gain weight so that you will be in a middle normal range.  This may seem like a lot of food to eat, but it essentially prevents you from easily falling to the underweight category.

As for your parents, while I would suggest telling them (someone told me to do the same thing, although I haven't gotten there yet), if you don't want to, maybe tell them that you found an article online that people your age should be eating more food because it is healthier.  You can say it's some CDC study or some other reputable source.  Apparently, eating more will give you more energy to do better at school or work or sports or whatever.  Just make something up and most parents will just leave you alone about it.

I'm glad you are starting to help yourself.  I know it's hard, but it's a good thing.
