Yawning Fits?
Hello everyone!
I have a question about these bouts of yawning that I get. They come at random, and it's happened a lot in the past few months. It's the kind of yawn where my mouth opens real wide and tears come to my eyes. I can't stop them either. In fact, I'm yawning right now, no lie.
Any reason why? Is it a medication thing (I take fluoxitine)? Or is it dietary?

I read once that yawning was a sign that you were not happy with what you were doing. I never yawn when I am doing something I enjoy. I do yawn when I am bored with what I am doing.
It seems to be unrelated to that though... it just comes out of nowhere, I'll be sitting, maybe reading or in class or talking to buddies and I'll start yawning nonstop for 10 minutes or so.
If you are indoors when it is happening maybe you are not getting enough oxygen.
I'll try and see if it only happens while I'm inside... I haven't really noticed whether it was exclusive to whereever I am at the time, that might be a good idea.
oh man this happens to me too! and then my jaw gets so sore that i can barely chew anything. i don't think my case is quite as severe. its not so much the yawning that bugs me anymore, its mostly the jaw ache.
Yeah, after a while my jaw gets like that too, haha
the only experience I have with crazy yawning is if I 'bonk' = for me this is during exercise, but has occassionally happened outside of exercise if I just haven't eaten enough and my blood sugar is low..
Yawning and fatigue have many causes. Lack of air is pretty common as yawning is a way to get more oxygen into the lungs. Dehydration would be another. Do you drink a good litre pr two of water each day? Sleep is another obvious one. Is your bedroom properly dark and quiet when you're sleeping? If you're not in an airless room and if you already stay well hydrated and get plenty of good quality sleep then you could be suffering from vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Low iron stores can cause fatigue, for example.
I may have low iron, actually, so I'll be sure to eat more iron-rich foods.
