I aim for 1,500 to 1,600 and I'm 5'0", 105 pounds with all my clothes on :)

1750 calories, 5'-6" female, light acitivity

5'8", 130ish, age 25, female. I don't do many serious 'workouts' but I have a light-to-moderately active job (teacher). I maintain on 2100-2500.

I should throw in that I could also 'maintain' that same weight at lower calories (1500... 1800...) -- and back then I thought I had to eat that little. It was silly, really, because as soon as I bumped up the calories my metabolism sped up to accomodate.

Calorie counting is not a hard and fast science. Your body adjusts your metabolism to how much you eat. Personally, if it's going to keep me at the same weight anyway, I like to eat more. :P

5' 7", age 43, 122-124lbs, maintaining very easily on 2,250-2,500 with maybe 2-3 miles walking a day, housework, childcare, etc - nothing major, in other words!!

Try this calculator. Most people are surprised!!

Cool that's a great website :) thanks

mrswilsoncat, Wow! you're right, great calorie counter. This says I can eat a lot more than I do for maintenance. That would explain why I'm losing even though I thought I was eating at maintenance levels. thank you.

5'3", 115-120, pretty active, eat 2200-2500 average

5'3", 2500 cal/day, 30 min running

5'8, female, 27 and I maintain on 2000-4200. Most days it's 2500-3500, and I exercise for about an hour a day.

Today I'm stuffed on barely 2000 even though I had a hard workout and have been up and about all day. Yesterday I only ran a mile warmup and rowed 5000 meters (a steady pace but not "vigorous") and I was hungry and snacking until late at night (started with a big breakfast too because I woke up hungry) - got up to just under 3000. I've also had two 4100+ days this week, with loads of carbs, and my weight is actually down a couple of pounds.

Like kaleidoscopica I can maintain my weight at this point in my life at a much lower calorie level than the one I eat to maintain now.

Female 5'7 age 32, 129-131 and i maintain on 2000-2200 or more for treat day. I workout 4 hrs per week (15 miles per week running and weights at home). I am also a carb -aholic!

Wow, that calculator is awesome!!!  No wonder I loose weight when I eat 1800 calories per day.  It says that in a typical day for me, I burn 2500 calories!  So to loose weight, I actually need to eat 2000 calories a day!  I do know that when I let myself go and not watch what I eat, it feels like I eat a ton of food, but my weights stays pretty constant.  I think I counted one day and figured it to be about 2300 or 2500 calories, right in that range, so I think that calculator is pretty accurate.

5'8, 124ish, 19. Average about a solid 2,200-2,400 a day. Exercise at least 5x a week for like an hour and a half, cardio/weight blend...plus walking around campus, walking my dog, etc.

It's all really a matter of trial and error. I had to up my cals a lot when I began weight training. So depending on what you do...listen to your body, eat raw, good food & you'll be good to go.

That calculator says I only burn around 2050 a day but I'm maintaining on 2400 at the moment...
I only eat about 1500. I'm 5'2 and 110 pounds. I see that I eat a lot less than most people, but that's all my body wants, if I eat much more I feel nauseous and gross full. I just eat whatever my body wants and stick to hunger cues.

If that is what you are maintaining on, then that is what your body needs! Calculators are notoriously inaccurate and often underestimate caloric needs, especially for teens.

How many calories SHOULD i eat to maintain? Im 5'2 about 105-110 pounds and 16 years old. I usually eat about 1600 do i need more?

Wow I'm so confused. I'm DEFINITELY not on maintenance yet but I looked up what maintenance would be at my goal weight, and it said like 1400 calories!

This would be very surprising unless you are a bed-ridden 4'9" sexagenarian...

It's possible that could be your BMR at your goal weight, but BMR and maintenance are not the same.

I prefer the term old fogey.

Well, I used CC's burn meter. I didn't think it was a BMR calculator.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
