fat face...skinny body?

Im a 14 year old girl who's 5'4 and 105 pounds. My doctor says I'm underweight and need to gain some weight...but I really don't want to! My mom disagrees with my doctor and says I look fantastic how I am. I am very athletic and make sure I eat very healthy. I am thin, but I worked hard for my body and want to keep it the way it is! Do you guys think I should gain weight anyway?

One more thing, although my body looks thin, my face is always BLOATED! I do drink a lot of water, tea, and diet soda... and I tend to use a good amount of salt on chicken and stuff.... could this be the reason for my chubby face?

Your body is probably retaining most of the water in your face because of all the salt intake. I would suggest lowering your salt intake for a few weeks and then see if your face looks less bloated. If not, it could just be genetics and the way your face structure is. =] 

Always listen to your doctor.  Unlike other people in your life their sole interest is your health and wellbeing.  If the doctor says you're underweight, you need to gain weight.

At 14 your body is still growing and developing.  You cannot 'keep it the way it is' and hope to become a healthy young woman at the same time.  That's not how life works   If you don't have good nutrition and enough energy it won't be able to develop properly.   Being underweight can lead to some terrible medical problems, both physical and psychological. 

So listen to your doctor.
You're only 14, which is probably why your face is chubby. As you get older, your face will become narrower
i can't believe your mother is more concerned with your appearance than with your health. you are a 14 year old girl! you're still developing and growing! if you doctor says you need to gain weight, then you should.
On the 29th you posted and said that you were 108 lbs.. have you lost 3 lbs since then? You need to listen to your doctor.
My face gets puffy when I chew too much gum in one day. It took me months to figure that out. Do you chew a lot of gum?
I am 5'4" too and 105lb is not a healthy weight for you, especiallly if you are very atheletic.
The doctor wouldn't tell you to gain weight if you didn't need to.
Gaining weight doesn't mean stuffing yourself with fat. There are healthy ways to gain weight!

the first question you asked (Do you guys think I should gain weight anyway?) : Yes. Everyone else explained that pretty well.

I really only wanted to reply to your " could this be the reason for my chubby face?"question.

I have a really round face, so it always looks chubby no matter what weight I am, maybe that's the issue? Not everyone has triangle or heart shaped faces :)

FAT FACE, I highly doubt it. Faces come in many different shapes, if you're slender I highly don't your face is fat it just may have a rounder shape, or you may have big cheek, Love your face regardless, besides it's the one thing you can't change so just embrace it. It may change as you get older but until then just love it. Since you don't have pics I can't be the judge of it. Some ppl may thin Juli stiles has "fat face" but her face is just more round shaped is all.
If your face looks more round it could be because the rest of your body is unnaturally thin.  Start eating properly, allow yourself to develop and your body & face stand a better chance of being in proportion with each other.

It is possible to have a fat face...I've got a 'normal' BMI but my face is fat (rather than bloated) with a double chin. If anyone has any ideas on how to change this I would greatly appreciate it!

Maybe I was unclear. What percentage of a persons face is comprised of fat? I have no clue but I do know face come in different shapes, and the little bit of fat that is in our face is not as much as one would think. A double chin I could see that because some ppl's fat deposits there, but just an overall FAT FACE nope, not accepting it. I'll accept chubby cheeks, but fat face not buying. It's probably just the person's perception. There are some things you can't change those are things we need to accept and love, the things you can change change em.

I want a smaller foot but I'm not gonna cut off my toes to get it, I love my size 10 feet, they're great for walking/running/swimming and not to mention how I love my high heels Laughing

Don't listen to your mother, but listen to your doctor. Sometimes mothers are in denial and ignore major signs. You are underweight and lost 3 pounds!! That is not good, at your age you should be gaining weight.

You may stunt your growth, delay puberty, cause some bone problems, as well as with your heart, stomach, and liver. Don't do this to yourself. i know "beauty takes pain," but you don't want pain for the rest of your life; brittle bones, pain everywhere, pills, etc.  Think about it. 

By the way, i am your height 5'4. Starting high school i was 109, (suffered from anorexia) and after 4.5 years, i gained 21 pounds. I stayed the same height, still slender, don't have excess fat anywhere, like juggly  arms, no belly, (actually flat).  

So, basically you will gain weight because your are growing. you will a little bit of weight from building bone density, from muscles and etc. 

So worrying about your weight, will only cause problems at your age.

Its been forever since I posted this question...

I'm now 113 pounds and eating very healthy. My face is actually becoming less chubby too...i think my whole body is balancing out:) thanks for all the support from everybody!

p.s. i think the gum might have been affecting my face too. im slowly weening myself off it:) :) :) !!!

That is good.  Remember the lesson that young people are changing so much that you cannot pick apart their bodies yet.  It is fruitless to worry about your face when you might look totally different in 4 years.  It is a bit like getting breast implants when you are 14 because you don't have boobs yet :)


Just be healthy and do what the doctor says, and don't start criticizing yourself until you are at least 18 :)

it wont change?

you're 14 aswell, you bone structure hasnt even fully developed yet

 

 

on the subject of weight gain, if you are undereating and are really underweight and the doctor suggests you gain weight

then you should

otherwise you will stunt growth

If you are happy with your weight I'd stay there.

As for a chubby face, it's because you so young. I have a friend that's kinda like you she's 5'1" and 98 lbs. but has a chubby face and I think she looks absolutly adorable! I'm actually jealous of her face. :P

you should work an gaining a few muscle pounds, ask you doctor  about safe ways to do this, maybe using your own bodyweight (pull ups, sit ups etc.) As you gain muscle to a healthy weight, you face may start to look thinner.  You could try to loose fat, but only after your a healthy weight.

And you can have a fat face, I have a slight double chin, chubby cheeks, fat around my eyes and mouth which if you put me in the right light is really obvious and if I press my forehead I can feel the fat.
