I'm 22 years old and going to college. on the weekdays I do really well and don't get tempted as much but, every weekend, my friends come over and want to drink. I just can't resist the temptation sometimes and don't really want to cut extra calories out of my diet for alcohol
Story of my life. I'm also 22 and in college. I do GREAT all week, and then the weekends hit and it's all downhill from there. I've tried to limit myself to only drinking Saturday nights as opposed to both nights of the weekend. On Sundays, I try to avoid fast food as a "hangover cure," even though it's soooo tempting.
I used to feel really guilty going over on calories on the weekends. I would decide I was going to drink with my friends and then be miserable all night thinking about how many calories I was consuming. But, I've come to the conclusion that you are only in college for so long, and you aren't going to be able to live this lifestyle forever. I don't let calories get in the way of having fun at college anymore :)

I hear ya.
I usually rack up 3000 calories easy on a Saturday when I drink. When I drink, I want to eat everything.
i know right? as if drinking wasn't bad enough, then i get the drunk munchies
You could try drinking a glass of water between drinks if you feel like you have to drink. I had a really hard time with drinking and the extra calories and I had to stop for a couple of months. Now I have the occasional glass of wine. I did learn something interesting a while ago, that drinking shrinks some part of the brain (forget which part) that is in charge of memory, so when you stop or cut down it recovers. So, now that I hardly drink anymore, I have noticed that my memory is a lot better!
I have the same problem because I LOVE WIIINNEE (mmmm wiinnneee) I haven't drunk for a week can you tell?! Ha anyways my advice is definitely the water inbetween glasses, it doesn't actually make you less drunk really you just get off totally hangover free and I really suffer usually. I also recommend gin and slim line tonics instead of cocktails wine or beer because they get you a little sloshed and have very few cals and I guess you're in the states but here in the UK we have 'sugar free cranberry juice' which when mixed with vodka a slice of lime and loads of ice is delish! Also to prevent drunk munchies, train yourself to come home and down 2 pints of water, it will make you feel a bit dodgy forcing you to go to sleep and again will eradicate that pesky hangover!

Second the hangover part. I usually do 2 glasses of water for every shot of alcohol. Only downside is frequent bathroom trips.
