Gyms, programs, and starving are not required. At all.
Use the tools on here to figure out what your daily calorie burn is and eat 500 calories a day less than that number and you will lose. Adding in free exercise like jump ropes, walks, jogging if you like it, pushups, lunges, etc are all free options that will get your heart rate up and boost your metabolism.
If you are often hungry at that amount of food then substitute some choices for plain popcorn or more veggies as they will fill you up. I can eat 1400 calories of crap really easily but 1400 calories of veggies is a LOT of food. Obviously you shouldn't eat all veggies as you need protein/fat, but you see what I mean. Good luck!
