Carbs, Carbs EVERYWHERE!

OK All....Carbohydrates. Let's chat....where do you try to keep your carbs for the day? What are they and why do we need them?


My answers: I try for 40 percent carbs...higher on days I workout. I know I need the carbs for energy. I try to eat complex carbs because they stay with you longer...but for quick energy, high sugar does the trick. It may also not be in the best of interests when trying to stay healthy.

So far for today I've eaten the following: 2 egg whites w/salsa on top & slice of toast, coffee w/skim milk; 2 pc. veggie pizza; 1 banana; 1/2 c. cottage cheese w1oz. walnuts on top. So far carbs are at 44%, protein is at 23.4% and fat is at 32.6%. Don't know what to make for dinner to lower the fat a bit and increase the protein. Any suggestions?

Ok I just went and looked at my analysis for today. I have 73% fats, 11.8 protens, and 9.5 carbs. I really need to step it up on the carbs and proteins and let the fats go waaayyyyyyyy down...LoL. Im working on it, im new to this kind of stuff. But since I started counting calories and excerising i have lost 2 or 3 lbs. Working on getting those fats down and carbs up-up-up!
so what did you eat today to get that much fats and so little carbs and protein?
mmmmm...spinach. I had wicked spinach cravings when I was pregnant with my daughter. I'm funny that way.

I don't keep track of my carbs the way I maybe should-it's miracle enough that I manage to keep track of my calories. I don't eat much sugar, and I feel kind of icky when I eat alot of bread or pasta.

My problem is that I can take or leave meat, and alot of nonmeat proteins are either disgusting to me (tofu. *shudder*), or quite high in fat. Any suggestions for me to even it out?

I have always been a spinach freak! Ive been thru 3 frozen bags this week! i eat it alot when its that time of the month!

what about fish? do you eat much fish? Great protein there or egg whites. Ive been having a tough time with protein
I like fish-good idea. Egg whites I just can't get excited about. >_
have you tried them? I wasnt crazy at first then hubby fixed some and told me you never know til you try. I LOVE THEM! If you want to try them I have some good omelettes to try
yesterday was great! I kept my carbs at 44%, lowest ever and protein was an all time high at 24%, fat was ok but need it lower it was32%.

My carbs are usually around 52-57
I'd be really interested in the recipes, slappy-I know most of my carbs are veggies, but I'd still like to get my protein levels to more of a balance.

How do you eat just Spinach for dinner? lol... I should try it, see how it works.... Well yesterday my Analysis was

all I do is cook it with some fresh garlic and a little redwine vinegar or balsamic vinegar and top it with a little parmesan cheese. LOVE IT!

I have been trying to stick to Atkins. My analysis for today is:
Fat 62.2%, Protein 35.9%, Carbs 1.9%, Alochol 0%, other 0%. I have a bottle of wine that tells me my alcohol % is going to change after work tonight! :-). Tomorrow is my anniversary so I think everything will be out the window!

are really high levels of carbs dangerous? Do you gain more weight? Sometimes I only eat fruits & veggies and I really love baked potatos. But on those days my carbs reach 70% like today... And I really didn't workout that much today. Only walked for about 2 hrs.

Fat - 6.8% (6 grams)

Carbohydrates - 72.8% (135 grams)
Alcohol - 0.0% 
Other - 7.9%

my overall carb level is around 50%. So are the days like today really fattening?
