Tami - YOU GET YOUR BUTT IN GEAR.. We WOULD notice if you just disappeared.. and we would come hunt you down.. (i have actually emailed people who just disappear, asking how they are doing... if everythings alright) so you just better get out of this funk and back on track.. you can do it.. and you know you can.. :P
speaking of races.. i wanna do this: http://komenhawaii.org/race.htm I have no clue how to prepare for it, so i am kinda doing a couch potato to 5k sort of thing. anyone have any suggestions??
also ... where is VICKI??????????
Brigitte, it's always a good idea to be over prepared instead of underprepared. But like I said.....I'm still not worried. this is sort of routine for hawaii. Esp. since its supposed to be passing south of hawaii. We should be fine. But lets keep our fingers crossed that it doesn't take a turn up north. I do know that hurricanes are not very easy to predict...
Tami - you CAN DO IT! i have rough weekends every weekend. And I do just like you, I rationalize myself into thinking...ah well I'm young...I can get a way with drinking and eating the wrong stuff on the weekends. I know its bad, but I still do it anyway. The only way I feel better is that usually, I'm pretty good on the weekdays. So you had a tough weekend, all's not lost. Just be good this week and reanalyze again next week. If you give up all together, then all will be lost. but if you dont give up and you just acknowledge, that yes, you had a rough spot, you can move on on focus on today. Plus you're still really thin...138!!! c'mon, that's light. =)
Tami!!!!! Step away from the excuses and get with the program...That would be like my saying that since my back is unstable and I'm old, it's ok for me to eat crap! And yes, we would be missing you! And don't worry about venting in this thread...that's what we're here for. ![]()
Briggitte...I can totally relate to your concern about the cane that might be headed your way...I was terrified going through my first NC cane, and it was barely a cat 2...I will not stay around for another one...fortunately I have the option of heading inland that you don't...Right now I'm keeping my eye on 2 different storms...I have my "to go" pouch of important papers on the refridgerator and I will be packing my emergency bag shortly...
Aww, thanks ladies, you are awesome. It's nice to have the support, it really is! If you remember, one of the reasons I sought out this forum is b/c of in my job (fitness instructor/trainer), I can't really talk about this stuff with my own clients or coworkers like I can with 'strangers'. And it does really help to let loose a bit - I am very much the person who can lose the forest for the trees sometimes - I get overwhelmed. Ugh. Anyway, thanks just for being here, and I think with one good day under my belt (under 1800 today, with a burn of 2370) I'm more focused. Thanks for letting me yell a bit, though.
Brigitte, you will LOVE running a 5K, especially a big one like Komen - the post-race energy and whatnot is just so much fun. I run that one pretty much every year. 3 miles is not so bad, really. If you can walk it, you can do it. To train, just start with 1 mile, or 1.5 and give yourself license to walk whenever you need to. Just cover the ground. Once you can do 1.5 miles without stopping (much), then kick it up to 2.0, and 2.5. If you can do 2.5, you'll do 3.1 like cake with all that race-day energy around. Another tip, maybe for when you can run more than a mile without stopping: when I feel like stopping and walking, I do 10/10s - walk 10 steps then run 10, back and forth till I feel like it's too much trouble and just run again. :-) It's like having a break without actually giving in to walking. Also, invest in some decent shoes. That makes a world of difference. I could write all night about running, but will stop myself. Ask anything that occurs to you, though. I've been running since jr. high, and doing races since just out of college, and have trained several marathoners, as well as many more casual runners. I am running my 4th half-marathon in November - I can't wait!
Goodnight all! And thanks again for the 'ear'.
Well my weight sucks again 136 this morning. Another excuse I know, but weddings, anniversary's, fairs parties.......... DAMN! time to get back on track again, I was doing so good down to my low of 132.6 and shot right back up. One another note though, I have bee enjoying my life lately and not stressing about the weight. I guess in the back of my mind, I know i can lose it.
Tami - we can do this together, both of us can get our BUTTS in gear.
I read every post, so of course now I don't have time to respond, so talk to you all later.
Good morning all...don't have much time....
Welcome back vicki...i hate computers!
I know I said I didn't care if I didn't lose another lb....but I do care that i'm still doing that damn cha cha...back up to 141.6! I don't mind not losing but I mind gaining for absolutely no reason! I could see if I had cheated but my deficits are still running 600-800 everyday! LOL if I'm gonna gain anyway, I might as well eat!
Ok, gotta go...don't want to get this new site blocked too! See ya at lunch....
Have a healthy day everybody!
brianne- I do the exact same thing- eating just b/c something tastes good!!! It drives me nuts! What has helped me a little bit is now I only take a small portion and walk away from the food. Since I am usually tempted at other people's places I steer clear after I've had a decent portion. I read somewhere what helped some people is remembering that nothing tastes as good as looking good feels. :) so I try to keep that in mind as well!
tami- you'd better not disapper! Even though I don't reply to a lot of your posts, it's mostly b/c you write so much and I don't have time to reply, but I do read and keep in mind what you say :) we all have bad weekends, it's life! It's one long journey and so what if you hit a little bump in the road, just get back on track! :)
brigitte- racing would be fun! unfortunately I have absolutely no advice I could give, sorry! :)
sorry to hear about the cha cha's we got goin on around here! Hope you see lower numbers tomorrow!
about me today- 138 this morning which is lower than last Tuesday's weight, hooray! I'm really determined to get to 135 and may even go for 133 so I'm 135 on Mondays :P
I'm going to get the NordicTrack this Thursday. Looking forward to it and getting a service plan just in case. Super stoked! Mornings are starting to get chilly so I don't think riding in September is going to happen... we'll see...
randomly thought of this... I love fall!!! It's right around the corner! The breeze, the smell, the colors, definitely my FAVORITE season!! :) hooray! hoping to get some camping in for fall as well... we'll see...
keep on truckin everyone! you're doing fantastic!!!!
morning everyone :)
welcome back Vicki :) glad you are able to get back on :) and your weight will go back down :)
tami - no problem, thats what we are here for :) on running the Komen... i know they have a one mile fun walk, and then the 5k run.. i can already walk the 3 miles, no problem, but do i have to run it all? i am hoping i will be able to jog it all at least by then, if i continue on track that i am on now.. but if i cant, they wont complain about me walking it right? i definitely want to look in to some better shoes, i think..
joan - sorry about the chacha... :(
stacey - yay on the 138 :) keep moving girl :)
i am down another half a lb this morning :) 129.5 :) yay :) back in the 120s :) whoot :) *happy dances* okay gotta get off here and get kids moving..
brianne - thanks! :) i'm sure i'd love tons of the hikes in hawaii ... so beautiful, i'm sure! i have the weekend problem as well. :(
veronica - welcome!
tami - don't get down - you can do it!! we all fall off the wagon every once in awhile (look at me right now!!) and we just have to brush ourselves off and keep on trying! we can't be perfect all the time! and i'm a rationalizing maniac lately ... i fully understand where you're coming from! let's pull together and refocus our efforts.
brigitte - the couch potato to 5k program is a GREAT idea! you can definately walk/run the 5k! no one will say a word, lots of people do this! some of the people that walk the whole thing though don't get their time clocked 'cause the timing only goes on for so long in certain races. you should definately be able to get up to a 3 mile run by the time of this race. i'm excited for you to learn to run!! :) congrats on the add'l 1/2 lb down!! yay for the 120s ... wow, i can only imagine!!
vicki - glad you're up and running again! :) as you can see, i can fully understand the bad acts leading to a 4 lb weight gain. :( let's get it back down as soon as possible!! i'm really trying to focus on good habits, counting and exercise again this week.
joan - the chacha is just the way of life, accept it, embrace it! :P a lb or 2 fluctuation is normal, you know this! don't worry about it, keep doing things the way you have and you'll see a downward cha-cha for sure!
stacey - good job with the weight! yay on your nordictrack! nice that you like fall so much, summer is my favorite, so i get a little sad when the wind starts blowing and the nights get shorter. at least someone appreciates the change! ;)
brigitte- that is so awesome!! congrats on you being back in the 120's!!!!
tina- I'm sure you've got some water weight... it'll move back down! take it easy on the workouts till your ready, just work on recovery and do some light stuff :) I gained what looked like 6lbs after my camping trip but was actually a solid 3... totally sucked, but I'm below my precamping weight now! :) I think the smell of fall is my favorite.. and the cool breeze... aaaaahhhhhhh... lol. Plus, campfires are more appreciated b/c it's actually cold! :)
thanks for all the comments on my weight goin down :) I think what really moved my loss into high gear is the weight lifting... It's totally working! I'm getting the toned look I want and still losing weight! I hope I didn't just jinx myself... lol. But I've been moving down a little every week for this whole month! yippee!!!
Stacey - I love fall the best especially in our area, the leaves turning, the cooler weather. We have only been camping once this summer, hopefully before it gets too cold maybe go one more time. We were looking at fire pits for the patio/deck this weekend, I so love a fire.
tina - its okay, dont stress about it :) you will lose it... i dont think i will have a problem getting my time clocked, even if i walk the whole thing... i looked at the results from last years race, and they had people clocked over an hour for it... i know i can walk a 15 minute mile, i did two of them this morning in 28 minutes :) (which is quicker then last weeks by two minutes lol)so 3 of them in 45 minutes shouldnt be an issue, and of course i am hoping to be jogging it.. so we shall see.. i definitely want to do it, and if i remember right from stuff i read, its a good idea not to do any running/leg work for a couple days ahead of the race? and you need carbs the day of? or night before?
thanks stacey, i am totally excited to see the 120s again.. just to be able to say i am in the 120s lol..
i personally love summer (although i dont love the extreme heat) thus the choice of hawaii for a port lol.. but i love fall too.. definitely DONT like the snow and the cold lol...
okay exercise done and out of the way, gotta straighten the house back up, then i NEED to clean my bedroom, ugh.. its a mess, i havent touched it since i got back from my trip.. blah.. haha..
Morning everyone,
138.6 again this morning, sort of a mini-chacha, lol, up and down within 138 for the last several days. Won't complain, though, as I haven't seen 139, even with the weekend I had. Ran 5 miles this morning, and couldn't resist getting on the scale post-run, and it was down to 137.4 - oh I know it's water weight, but still it made me smile, so that was that. Not getting on again till tomorrow.
Brigitte, you will find TONS of walkers at Komen. Of all the 5ks in the world, that one is probably most about it's cause and less about the actual activity. So many cancer survivors and supporters, they definitely outnumber the athletes. Here in Portland they have a *competitive* 5K run which is smaller, and the non-competitive 5k run/walk, which starts a little later and runs substantially slower. You'll do great whichever you do, but in my extremely biased opinion, you should check out trying to run it - it may give your body the shake-up you want, and at the very least, the pleasure and pride of finishing a 5k are really nice. :-) Congrats on getting below 130 again - I wonder if I'll get there!
Vicki welcome back! Amazing how not having a puter for a few days makes you realize what slaves we are to them, lol. Boo about the gain...now that summer's ending, perhaps the fall will bring more normalcy to the schedule.
Hi everyone else - I'm sorry to be short, but promised the kids I'd take them swimming - it's the nicest day we've had here in weeks - 89 degrees expected by the afternoon!
Yikes, it got chatty in here while I was hard at not working!
Brigitte!!!!! YAY on 129 something!!!!!
Tami: even though you think it was water wgt, at least you saw 137.4!
Tina, dont' worry, it will come off!
Oops...gotta go...sorry to those I missed....later
Hello girls! Doing a little cha cha myself. Went up to 136.6 since Saturday's 135.2. Oh well, I knew it was coming due to playing all weekend with food and drinks. =) Still happy that it's not up to 138. Hoping to get to 134 by the end of the week, but we'll see.
So Brigitte, looks like the hurricane is getting weaker. Yay! I think the Big Island will be getting much of the stormy weather, and us getting just some rain. See, nothing to worry about (I hope). =) And, 129.5! woohooo! If only, if only.... Good for you though!
Stacey - You're so lucky! You're own work out machine at home! There are tons of times I wish I had one, so when I'm watching my shows, I could be burning some calories. Your weight will be falling off soon! =)
Ok, I read everyone's posts, but gotta run! I have one of my first court appearances today (I've had a couple others, but am still considered a newbie in court). I'm arguing against a motion to dismiss one of my affirmative defenses. I should win, but I'm nervous nevertheless! Wish me luck! Have a good day!
thanks Joan and Brianne :) yeah looks like we might get some rain, and doesnt it seem a bit more windy here today? i guess thats side effects of it also... hope your court appearance went well :)
