140/130 club

Quote  |  Reply
Anyone in this grouping looking to drop from 140 to 130's.  We can all use support.  Today I am focusing on all the food groups.  Exercise would be good, but I won't be able to since I am working from 9 to 10:30.  A Super long day.  I hope I can stay focused, when I pass the fast food chaines on my travels today.

There's been a hell of a lot of poo talk on here of late. My husband would be in heaven - he's a great (?) one for bathroom humour.

Alizus... I'm right there with you on the 9/10 pounds. I'll stop at 130, and I'd like to be there sometime in the next say 4 months (we leave for our honeymoon - 1.5 years after we got married - on May 24). I'm also a big fan of acidophilus!

Hmindel... We were born within 10 days of each other! I don't have any kids yet though. I really admire you & Cassy and all others who managed to have it together enough to have kids in their 20s.

Sherry... hope you got your exercise in, and that Summer is feeling better!

Colleen... Thanks for that information! I think the mental benefits of exercise (for someone like me, who's somewhat prone to foul moods) are enough to make me keep going, but it was great to read that we should be going for a minimum of 5x a week. It'll keep us going when we next don't want to step outside of our warm houses! Oh, and yes I talk to the dog a lot. And to myself! Good job on the shopping! I love excuses to get new things...

Cassy... I'm going to get some of that Mocha silk. I've always looked at it in the store and thought it looked good, but have never tried. I hope the scales are being kinder to you today!

Brigitte... How did the HRM-wearing go all day? And how's your hubby's ankle? Three months after I sprained mine, I know how much it sucks!

Joan... I'm wondering if the culprit isn't the protein. Everything I've read on protein says that even for hardcore athletes, one shouldn't have more than 1.2g-1.8g per KILO of bodyweight, not per pound. So if you're about 59kg, you should be eating 71-106g of protein max. I don't know, but it might be worth considering.

As for me: today I saw a new low: 140! Not sure how that happened. When I first stepped on the scale it read 139.4, but then I reweighed twice (139.8 and 140) and took the highest. Still... it seems that a dead-on deficit of 500 works for me. Problem is, I know that number's going to crawl back up this week, as TTOM is due on Monday. But for now, I'm smiling, and am all set for my spinning class at lunch!

Good morning ladies,

Surprising myself, I jumped out of bed and did my hour of exercise first thing this morning (after I thought about it for about a half hour), and I tried to step it up a notch.  I'm exhausted, but proud of myself.  I'm going to try to do this at least 5 times a week for the next month and see if that doesn't work in getting these last stubborn 3 pounds off.  I did pilates for 20 minutes and then 40 minutes of cardio with some weights worked into the routine.  The last 20 minute cardio program I picked from my exercise TV menu was brutal.  Jumping and hopping and lots of lunges.  My thighs are twitching.  I had to wimp out and just walk three or four times, but I kept moving!

Heather....YAYAYAY for you on shedding that 2 pounds!!!!  Maybe your body was holding water.  And yes, we can get personal here.  Sometimes it's easier to ask about embarrassing issues here than with friends.

Alizus....let's get off this plateau.  I don't like the view from here.

Nicky...YAYAY for you on the new low.  I think I would have taken the lowest reading...after all, that was barrier breaking!  The 500 calorie deficit seems to work best for me, too, but then I lose at the rate of 1 pound a week.  But if I could get this 3 pounds off in three weeks, I'd be very happy.

Brigitte...the Kashi protein bars I bought at Costco are 200 calories and they are better than the ones I tried before, but I haven't tried many.  There are three kinds--chocolate peanut, oatmeal walnut, and caramel some other nut that I can't remember right now.  I had one for breakfast this morning, right after my hour of exercise.

BTW, Oprah's personal trainer also said it's important to take 1 day off from exercise to rest your body....I think we all know that, but it's a good reminder.

Have a great day everyone.  I off to shop again for my friend to see if I can find those tops for her.

yea carrie where are you how is the MIL..?

have a great day ladies..

Good morning ladies~

Sherry~ you have been doing the cha-cha too.  Hope Summer is feeling better, it's always a bummer when kiddo's get sick.  At least she is old enough to let you know what's going on.  And you can get some muscle building, just need to up those weights or get some yoga/pilates DVD's

Alizus~ Glad you have got into the am gym ruitine, it seems to really workout for you. It can be hard to stop giving yourself all the little "treats" like you do around the holiday's.  I have tried to log it before I eat it and check the analyzer, sometimes it helps me change my mind that I really don't want it after all.

Colleen~ I've heard some of that info, but not to that amount.  I knew the whole "kick it up" when you are plateauing, but never heard that you have to do a min. of 1 hour 5 days a week.  Though I will not do am workouts at this time in my life.  I would have to get up at 4am, and that does not sound like fun to me at all.  Plus, I sleep better with my night workouts.  Nothing like a good sweat and a hot shower to relax me before bed.  WT, jumping out of bed (sort of) and exercising, with cardio the key is to keep the heart rate up, not the jumping and hopping.

Heather~ Glad to here that weight is back down, you will get to your goal soon enough.

Nicky~ Birkram yoga can be really intense, do they heat the room you do it in?  A 400 calorie burn isn't to shabby at all.  You should have no problems reaching your goal by your honeymoon.  I wouldn't say I had it together and then had kids, I had kids and it made me get it together, lol.  I was 23 when I had my daughter, boy I grew up fast.  WTG on that weight, at least if the weight starts creeping up you know what to blame!

Well, I don't know if it was the 70:45 min workout that was kicked up last night or the increase of water the last few days but my weight has dropped to 140.0, but my body fat was up this morning (have to watch that).  Going to do either my weights or yoga today along with a elliptical workout today.  Have my RRR meeting tonight, the topic's are nutrition, hydration and stretching.  I also did measurements this morning, I will report what my changes are in my journal tonight.  I started out this morning with my Malt-o-meal and added the Silk mocha to it, that was good but I won't do it every morning.

Hope everyone has a great day!!

Holly~ don't take anyones head off, I can be a real bear a few days before TTOM.  YAY on your weight is headed back down

Good Evening Ladies...

Where has the day gone?!  Miserable day here...lots and lots of cold rain...Living so close to the ocean, we have a very high water table and even a little rain can make things flood...Today was awful!  But at least it wasn't snow!

Weight went back down a bit this morning...Glad I didn't get too crazy about it...Knowing I had another dentist appt to try to get my huge loose permanent bridge out kinda got to my nerves today and I wasn't able to eat but half of my lunch...and that didn't sit well either...

But the dentist was able to get the caps off without breaking the bridge or any of the teeth underneath!  YAY!  You have no idea how worried I was about that!  LOL now I'm hungry and he told me to go easy on eating tonight!  Too late to get to the gym...So, I will push off my workouts to Fri & Sat..

Nicki & Colleen:  You ladies might just be on to something about the protein causing the problem.....I'm gonna start to cut back a bit and see if it helps...LOL but I will NOT give up my chocolate peanut butter protein bar!

Nicki...YAY on that new low...I'm sure you'll break through to the 130's soon!  LOL I would have gone with the 139.8!   And good for you finding a number that works for you!  I'm still experimenting..

Colleen:  Lady I give you credit!  I couldn't do all that in the morning...no way!  Those last 3 pants don't stand a chance:)  Ut O, I only get 4 nights of exercise, at least til beach season then I'll add back all the walking...that is if I'm still here...but the way the market is dropping, I don't see me leaving any time soon...Anything new on your stove?

Sherry:  I hope Summer is better! Kick up that exercise a bit and that chacha/plateau will be history...

Cassy:  Look at you telling somebody to up their weighted exercises!  YAY  I don't have to be the one!  I bet you were just a bit dehydrated and that's why it looked like the bodyfat went up...don't give it another thought...70:45 is minutes?  LOL I looked at it as 70 hours 45 minutes...duh....I guesss cause the other day I journaled about wearing my HRM for 10:44 meaning 10 hrs 44 min!

Holly:  I think I'll just stay away from you until after TTOM!  quickly ducking behind the other ladies....hehehehehe

Alizus:  A plateau is much better than a gain!  9 lbs by April is very doable....

Heather:  YAY on those 2 lbs...I remember weeks and weeks when I was happy just to drop .5....I think I finally ended up averaging about 5/month...but there was alot of up and down in there...For weights, I lift heavy..6-8 sets of 8-12 reps...

I sure hope I haven't missed anybody...I'm gonna take advantage of this extra and unplanned night off from the gym...Last night I was so exhausted that I even had touble reclining!  Gonna get some crocheting done and try not to eat on these caps!

Be healthy :)

busy busy here today.. :) nice to see it, but so difficult to keep up with lol..  let me start by saying: my weights the same as yesterday, but i did manage to get to the gym this morning and workout..  (wokeup 15 minutes before the alarm was set to go off (or so i thought) for me to wake the teen for school, and said oh i have 15 more minutes to sleep, then i can get him off and go back to sleep..  WRONG.. lol.  my alarm went off like a minute later (or so it seemed), and I jumped out of bed, realizing that YET AGAIN the teen forgot to take the trash to the street, so ran outside in my jammies, and dragged it down. so by then I am wide awake of course, so i said "screw it, I am going to the gym if i am going to be up and moving this early lol"..  turned the littles lights on (usually wakes em up, or at least gets em moving around a little) had breakfast, and we were on our way.. :) yay. )..  after my workout (which burned 668 calories in 110 minutes, btw) we headed to the commissary to pick up a couple items, got there and my cell rang, it was hubby wanting to know what i was planning on for lunch and if he should drive home for it.. umm no.  meet me at the food court at the exchange by the commissary, so I wound up having subway, yet again,, but its all good..  then we went to get the groceries, he had to leave in the middle of it cos he was due back on the boat.. finished up.. drove home,. got on here, entered my hrm info, posted my journal entry, responded to my friends journal entries, read some emails, etc..etc..  and then decided i better go wash the dry sweat off my body..  headed  to the bedroom, got undressed, started the shower, and realized.. OH SH**... I FORGOT THE GROCERIES IN THE CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldnt believe it.. i can be such a total ditz sometimes..  but now the groceries are all put away, and i am clean,  and here i sit again.. lol..

Nicky - i posted my results in my journal yesterday, check em out :) they basically agree with what cc tells me i burn in sedentary mode, plus what my exercise added in brings the total to..  hubby says his ankle is feeling better.. last i heard his doc hadnt heard yet from the xray doc, but they (hubby and other crewmembers) were taking advancement tests this morning, so they actually hadnt had a chance to hear anything..  YAY ON YOUR NEW LOW :) CONGRATS :) Keep smiling :)

Colllen - thanks for all the info :) maybe i should be at the gym 5 times a week til i get where i wanna be again..  instead of my 3 days.. (at least its almost two hours worth each day)..  Congratulations on getting up and getting that exercise out of the way first thing this morning.. :)  we dont have a costco card, so maybe i will look at sams for the protein bars..  i just cant stand how some of these meal replacement bars, etc. taste like they have chocolate colored paint drizzled on them (or are coated in it).. YUCK..

Holly - yay on the oz' down :) they count :) and ultimately you will be back down to the old low :)

Cassy - yay on dropping to 140 :) and the good workout.. :)

Alizus - I am sure its not a plateau, you will see movement in the next couple of days :)  good luck on getting to goal by May :)

did i miss it, or did Joan not post today.. hmmmm... ahh there it is..  she posted while i was typing this out..  good thing i looked back on the page before and then back to this page and saw her post :) YAY..   Bummer on the cold rain :( blah..  and double YAY for the dentist being able to get those caps off without breaking the bridge or the teeth :) WHOOT :)  okay, so now you have missed ME :P hehe..  enjoy your crocheting :)

Brigitte~ Wow, that was one busy day you had!!  I've forgotten groceries in my van before.  You are really getting the good workouts in at the gym.  I really need to buy a bow flex or home gym, and a treadmill, and a....I'm thinking once our basement is finished it's going to be more of a gym then a family room.

Joan~ YAY, I'm so happy the dentist was able to take care of fixing your mouth without causing anymore damage.  LOL about thinking 70 hours, that would be one hell of an Iron lady competition.

Well last night was my RRR nutrition and hydration  meeting.  Kinda disappointing, the focus was pre-long-run/race, during, and post focus ONLY!!  I was hoping there would be a little more info about specific dietary changes a runner should look at.  I know the increase need for carbs, and nutrient rich foods but they didn't even bring up the increase need of antioxidants after even mid runs.  After 45 min. of a hard workout your skin starts to be effected and you need the antioxidants to counter those effects.  Well anyways, when I got home I was going to get my gear on and do some weights and jump on the elliptical, but then i decided  F-it and put on my Pj's, climbed into bed and watched some tv instead.  So, yesterday was my off day, today I need to do my weights and do about 6 miles on the elliptical.  Not a hard workout since I have my long run tomorrow.  We probably won't see a temp above 0 until Tue or Wed. of next week, yuck.  High today between -8 and -5.  At least my weight is still sitting at 140.something.

Cassy:  I'm soooo glad you took the night off!  Even during training, your body can take but so much.  I pretty much did the same thing last night.  By the time I got home from the dentist, walked the dog, fed the cat, by then it was the same time I would have alrady completed a couple sets of deadlifts at the gym.  If I had decided to go anyway, I would still have needed to change my clothes and drive there.  That would have left me with only an hour to workout...I guess an hour is better than nothing...but I opted to totally relax instead!   I don't know how you can deal with those temps!  But I know your body is use to it the same way mine was use to the colder NJ temps...

Brigitte:  Are you having brain cramps????  The other day sending the teen out for a non-existant school day...forgetting groceries in the car....

My weight is back up today and I don't care....Here I had been worrying about how to do maintenance and I've actually been maintaining my weight by going back and forth between 129-130!  Is it a cha cha?  Not really cause I'm not really trying to get any lower...If I was trying, then it would be a cha-cha...At least this way I'm pretty much eating what I want except I'm not going crazy and putting all the candy and cookies back into my diet the way I'd really like!  I'm just gonna keep an eye on my pants, my favorite jeans in particular....so long as they are comfy, I'm not gonna worry about anything else!

Have a healthy day Ladies :)

Man this has been a busy site the last day or so, I have read everything just never got around to posting last night........ you ladies are doing great from the sound of things.

Okay Summer was able to go to school yesterday, lets see I did the 3 mile tape Wednesday didn't do anything last night, my stomach is just out of whack and just thinking of moving up and down made me quesy and then Summer started running a temp again so I sit with her on the couch, guess sometimes you just have to be the mommy.... she didn't go to school today, went back to the doctor, she has a sinus infection, so we got meds and she's at my moms, what would I do without mom and aunt opal, they keep the kids, take them to the doctor andso forth so we don't have to miss work, and I sure don't take that for granted. Hopefully she will be well by the end of the weekend and they are out of school Monday for MLK day and I'm off so I'm hoping for some good weather to get to the track, it's going to be cold here this weekend and to be honest I probably won't get out in it but I iwll do exercise in the house.

I think I'm going to alternate, 1 night doing my walking tape for cardio and the next night my step mixture with weights for toning, I think I'm going to look for a new cardio burn dvd this weekend and if I keep up with it I think I will have a good routine.

I took some meds last night since I have been having such bathroom problems well let me tell you I'm empty for sure now!!! I really am going to have to figure out what works for me, I was doing the fiber sure in my coffee, just 1 tsp a day and that seemed to work guess I need to start back on that again, or maybe try the acidolpholus that Alizus was talking about, I'm assuming it's just a pill you take? Will have to check into that more.  I just can't stand that "full" feeling, YUCK.

Had oatmeal with brown sugar and cinnamon and apples for breakfast, then I had a can of tuna packed in water, with 1 tablespoon of light mayo and pickles, and a whole grain tortilla, then I had a 100 calorie quaker peanut butter chocolate chip granola bar, yumo!!!  Will take some yogurt to have later back to work, I know Summer and I will be going out to eat with a friend of mine for supper, just don't know where, I really want to do good this weekend.  I hope I don't give in to the munchies with the cold weather, just stay busy that's what I need to tell myself.

Have a great one ladies.

Hi everyone....

I'm having another good day...did my hour of exercise this morning after breakfast of blueberry oatmeal and coffee.  Then met an old friend from Grand Rapids for lunch (I used to live there), which was SO great.  We ate at a Lebanese place, and I had just a rollup sandwich with a lentil mixture in it and a small piece of bread with some of the hummus she ordered.  Having fish for dinner with snap peas and a brown rice pilaf.  This motivation sure comes and goes, but the force is with me for now!

Sherry...that sinus infection seems to be going around.  Hope Summer feels better soon.  Listen to you, planning out an exercise schedule!  {Pat on the back}  I think it really helps to have some different routines to do--otherwise you get bored.  I'm so happy I have exercise TV available so I can do different routines all the time.  They even have "sexy" routines.  I don't know if you're supposed to do those with or for your man--I think they're funny--playboy bunnies are the stars.

Joan...I'm so happy your dentist was able to get your bridge out with no damage.  And good for you deciding to maintain instead of losing more weight.  I'm so looking forward to getting to that place.  There's probably a lot to learn about that, too.

Brigette....you sure are having some brain skips.  That's what happens when you get busy and running here and there.  I agree on the protein bars.  The ones I bought before were terrible tasting.  These Kashi ones are tasty, but very chewy.  That's ok--I can burn some calories chewingLaughing  Those multi-grain chips I got are really good, too.  When I was back at Costco today to get something I forgot (I have CRS--Can't Remember S**t), they were giving out samples of a variety pack of 100 calorie bags with cheddar, sour cream and apple flavors.  The apple ones were delicious.  Sensible Portions is the brand name.

Cassy...hopefully they will get to nutrition issues at some point in your RRR meetings.  You never told me what RRR stands for.  Sounds like you enjoyed your night off.  I'm taking Sunday off this week.  You know, I have a Nordic track and a Total Gym in my basement, but I hardly ever use them.  I don't like it down there--no windows--and my husband broke the VCR, so I can't use the tapes that came with the Total Gym.  I need to buy a used VCR player, because I liked the Total Gym; but I think I'll try to sell the Nordic Track.  I've never liked it.

Holly...YAY for you and getting that scale to keep going down.  Hope TTOM is kind to you.

Carie...you and your MIL are in my prayers.  Hope you check in with us soon.

Everyone else....hope all's well.

Everyone---have a great weekend!

lol i think i am suffering from "Joan syndrome" :P  with all this forgetfullness :P   have had a decent day today, even though my weight was up .5 (whatever) and even though Hannah had her neurology appt today..  all in all its been a good day.. got some exercise in bright and early this morning.. then again at the hospital I put some extra effort in (read my journal :P)  Hope everyone is having a wonderful friday.. I still have to get my housework done.. ugh. its never ending.. :(

Cassy - LOL I wish I had a basement to put all that kind of gym equipment in..  (as long as it all worked, wasnt malfunctioning)  bummer your RRR meeting wasnt quite what you expected it to be..  whats this about antioxidants to counter effects on your skin after a 45 min hard workout????  do tell..   enjoy your long run tomorrow :)  (BRRRR)...

Joan - YAY on relaxing, and being okay with it :) and see you are MAINTAINING.. VERY COOL :)

Sherry - bummer that Summer is still sick :( hope the meds help..  and its great that you have such a helpful mother and aunt (who are close enough to actuallly help you in times of need)..  alternating is good :)

Colleen - another good morning of exercise, way to get back on track :) and get stuff moving :)

okay gotta get the housework done.. have a fab weekend ya'll :)

Joan~ Don't worry I will be taking a min. of 1 FULL day off every week.  This will most likely be Friday.  Thought it made since with Sat. being my long run day.

Colleen~ RRR, Red River Runners, it's the running group I signed up with for my half marathon training.

Sherry~ My fingers are crossed that Summer gets healthy over the weekend.  You have a good plan to keep things spiced up so you shouldn't get bored.

Brigitte~ You asked about antioxidants:

I'm by no means an expert about this but from what was explained to me was during a hard workout after about 45 min. your body is no longer able to fight the free radicals especially in the skin.  The easiest way to counter this is to have food that contain antioxidants after each hard workout.  Food that contain large amounts are things such as blueberries, green/white tea, prunes, pomegranates, Goji berries, along with other foods.

Not sure if I'm going to get my elliptical workout in.  I haven't done any "actual" weights today, but I have done a variety of yoga poses, leg lifts, squats, and push-ups off and on today.  Know it isn't the best way to get the weight in but it's better then nothing.  Also, as I write this my van is getting an auto start installed, and I can't really start my elliptical workout until I go and pick it up.  So right now it's the annoying wait game.  Since I will be up at 5:30 in the morning, I figure sleep is more important then a run, so if it's after 8:30 when I get the call to get the van I will not get my elliptical workout in and instead go to bed.  Boy, I'm really starting to dislike this extreme cold.

Hi all,

It's an unintentional day off for me, because I have to clean my house before leaving to go shopping with a girlfriend this afternoon. I might try and get a run/swim in tonight though, depends on how it goes. If not, today can just be the official day off instead of tomorrow.

Colleen, all that food sounds delicious, especially the Lebanese! Mmmm. Your motivation is really, well, motivating right now!

Joan, I love your maintenance attitude!

Cassy, it sounds like you could teach these runners a thing or two about nutrition. Perhaps you could suggest having a holistic councilor come talk to your group?

Brigitte, I hope everything went well at the hospital. You really shouldn't worry too much about things like weight when you've got all this going on with her. But then again, perhaps the exercise could help you clear your  head and keep things together - usually works for me.

Weight's at 141.2 today, so I guess that's the TTOM weight creeping on - it's due Monday. However, I did go to Ann Taylor yesterday (yes I know they are the WORST for vanity sizing) but I fit (well) into a size 4 pair of trousers! I'm perfectly aware that that's probably an actual size 8, but it still felt good!

I got an adjunct position at Rutgers and so am going to be teaching there (starting next week) as well as working on the novel I'm translating, training for this tri, and preparing for my PhD comprehensive exams... am I crazy? Hmmm.

In other news, I gave the dog a bath this morning - I had to drag all 75lbs of him into the bathroom and then lift (ow my back) him into the tub. Now I'm trying to put off cleaning the mess of hair he left behind - can you tell?

Best get to it before my husband returns...

Hmmm....pretty quiet in here today.  The force is still with me...I did my hour of exercise this morning--weights and pilates and some ab/back work.  Then had a protein bar for breakfast.  Make my favorite lentils for lunch and will be doing some turkey burgers in pita bread and a salad for dinner.  So I think I'll be ok on food.  Hope I can sneak in a popcorn snack tonight.

Nicky...you sure are going to be busy, but what an interesting array of work.  What will you be teaching?  I wasn't aware that Ann Taylor was so generously portioned.  T'would be a vanity fantasy to have a size 4 in my closet!  I haven't seen single digits in years.  I'm not sure I could life 75 pounds....you know, you don't need to add a back injury to keep your ankle company!  Hope you see weight going back down after TTOM.  Have fun shopping--that's the only time I have fun doing that--when I'm with a girlfriend.

Cassy....I agree with Nicky--you could teach your RRR group a thing or two about nutrition and exercise.  I'm pay more attention to anti-oxidants lately for lots of reasons.  Always have colored berries in the freezer.  One of the these I'm going to have to try those Goji berries, even though they're pricey.  Hope you got your elliptical in last night.

Brigitte...hope you're having a good day and keeping the stress low.  I must have missed something.  Is Hannah in the hospital?

It's really cold here today, so I'm just staying in and watching TV and playing computer games.  I was going to take tomorrow off from exercise, but I'll be going to visit my mom again Monday and Tuesday, and she doesn't have exercise TV.  So I guess I'll do another hour tomorrow.  That will be four days in a row....but I'm still stuck at 138.  137...I saw you once....come back, please!

Hey all, not staying just dropped in to read real quick, but wanted to answer Colleen so shes not worrying..  No Hannah isnt in the hospital. Yesterday was her appt at the hospital with the neurologist to rule out seizures.. they didnt rule it out, in fact they want an EEG to check her brain waves and see if they can find anything, then possibly an MRI for a closer look if they do find any "abnormal" brain wave activity.  I called yesterday afternoon to schedule the EEG but the phone was busy, so I havent made that appt for her yet..   But thank you for being concerned.. :)

got some stuff I need to do this morning, i will write a better post later..

Nicky~ Boy girl, you're more nuts then me, ;) Man are you busy.  That's a good idea about a holistic Counselor I will send an e-mail to Mark and suggest it.

Colleen~ WTG keeping up with your morning workout.  If you can get a hold of acai berries they are even more of a super food.  Haven't found any up here yet, but you are closer to large cities then I am.

Brigitte~ Well at least they want to be thorough with Hannah.  Just be strong, waiting is always the toughest part.

Well I wasn't able to get my workout in last night. It was after 10:30pm before I left the shop with my van, and almost 11pm by the time I got home and got everything I needed to get ready for this morning done.  But I have an Auto start, YAY, couldn't get it at a better time to appreciate how wonderful they really are.  Well I got my 6 mile run it today at the dome.  Better then the bitter cold -20*F outdoor weather this morning.  This week I've got to put a meal plan together and really start getting a true running plan together.

Happy Saturday evening all...

Nicki...I wish I was in NJ already and we could meet up...Rutgers is about an hr or so from where I will be living...it sure would be nice to have a f2f with some CC friends!  And wow do you have alot on your plate...activity-wise!  LOL I'd end up translating the dog and giving the class a bath!  Ahh to be young and intelligent :)

Sherry:  lucky you to have family you can count on...I hope Summer is better soon...and yup sometimes ya just gotta be the mom...Good idea to be switching up your exercise routines...keeps the body guessing...

Cassy:  I saw on the news about the freezer your living in! OMG!  I'm glad you got that auto start!  I'm going to have one put on my car when i get back north too!  Are raspberries high in anti-oxes?  I have them in my protein shake after every workout...

Brigitte:  I'm keeping all of you in my prayers...I hope they're able to find the cause and treat Hannah's spells...

Colleen:  I"m with you on not wanting to go traispe around in the cold!  You have become quite the exercise queen!  I see so much determination and motivation in you these days...Already adapting your routine to cover being at your mom's!  Hey, I've been adding cinnamon to my coffee in addition to my usual in my oatmeal and shakes...I think it might be helping a bit...Can't tell yet how lowering my protein will help cause I have to admit that the other night I went crazy and ate 6 protein bars!  That's 139g of protein just in those!  And that's not counting my shake and meals for the day!  I bet I had over 200g of protein Thurs!  But believe it or not, I didn't have my usual problem!  Go figure!

Did legs last night and I musta really worked hard cause I woke up during the night with cramps in my right sartorius and VMI....(inner thigh)  Took forever to work them out...They're still a bit tender...

Since my dentist appt upset my workout schedule this week, I went to the gym this morning...

Got in a dynamite upper body workout today...It's amazing how much better my workouts are when I can go early in the day instead of at night after work.  It was nice not having to skip things cause the gym was getting ready to close...And I wasn't thinking about how it would be nice to get home early enough to relax a bit before it's time for bed!  And I didn't have to feel guilty that my dog and cat had been by themselves for 12 hours and they really didn't need that much alone time...

I was able to get in a full "push-pull" workout which helped keep my heart rate up.  But, my legs were so tired from last night that I barely made it through my finishing 20 min on the eliptical.  Couldn't do any of the mountain climb programs and had to stick with a plain interval and even then at a low resistance...Which is probably just as well...no sense overworking muscles that I'm trying to build up, ya know!

I know I worked really hard cause according to my HRM, in those 2 hrs I burned 850 calories!  I haven't burned that many cals in a workout since my wgt was alot higher...

Well I'm going to plug in a movie..."Hairspray" came during the week and I haven't had a chance to watch it yet...

I hope everyone is having a healthy weekend!

Hey ladies, it's been cold and windy here today, been lazy all day.... food ok not great..... will get back on track tomorrow......haven't exercised the past couple days, might go and do something later....if not will get back on schedule tomorrow...

Anybody got any good suggestions on a child that just can't quit coughing? It's a strangled cough and just all but makes her throw up.....I'm giving her cough syrup that doesn't seem to help much.

Was going to cathc up with everyone but Summer is wanting to put her head in my lap, so will catch up tomorrow.

Have a great night ladies.

I'll put a journal entry together of high antioxidants for anyone who is interested.

Sherry~ is Summer old enough to give her a weak hot toddy?  I know it's alcohol, but if she were to just sit and inhale the steam from the brandy might help, plus the alcohol mght help relax the muscles too.  It's something my parents did for us when we were even pretty young (though I do come from a family of alcoholics).

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
