QUESTION OF THE DAY: AUG 20
What is motivating you to want to lose weight?
MOLLY
Health. I'm tired of not being able to do the things I want to as easily as I used to. I don't expect to turn back the clock 20 years, but the less strain I put on my knees, and more importantly my heart, seems like a good plan to me!
Molly, you may need to coach me as to how to participate... we'll see, it may be easy...
Goals for fall?
1. under 130 for the tournament in october ( don't have the exact date) that is loosing 7 from where i am...loosing 13 would be even better... i think...
2. 60 oz water a day.
3. 40 g fiber per day
4. at least 1 adult judo work out /week 4 total hrs of judo /week
5. at least 1 trip to the gym / week
I want to compete at least one time as an adult. see how it goes. i hope some 17 year old dosent' break me. I hope i don't break myself!
QUESTION OF THE DAY: AUG 20 What is motivating you to want to lose weight?
There are 2 main things motivating my weight loss:
- my health - I have a family history of diabetes (my brother & sister recently found out that they have had diabetes for several years without realizing it), heart disease, and high blood pressure
- my kids - I want to set a better example for my kids. I want to be around as they grow up.
Fall goals:
- Lose at least 12 lbs (starting weight is 242 so 230 lbs by Dec 1)
- exercise for at least 35 min most days (aim for 1100 min a month)
- eat 5-7 serving of vegetables & 1-2 serving of fruit per day
- lower current fat % and sodium levels in diet
- drink at least 72 oz of water per day
What's my motivation for weight loss?
Improved Health! I definitely want to get/keep my Type II diabetes under better control, I want to be able to be more active, and I want to continue to improve my cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure.
I also want to look better, feel better, and to have more options when it comes to clothing choices, clothing styles, and activities I want to pursue!
MOLLY
1. Start counting calories again.
2. Use up the numerous cans of Slim Fast in my cupboard, one drink per day usually.
3. Current weight 278. To start, lose just 10 lbs. That's not too much to ask, is it?!! Just 10 small lbs.!!!
4. Get my blood pressure checked because people around me younger than I am are having strokes and high blood pressure. Having just turned 45, it is time to be more vigilant.
5. Walk 3 times a week. (Secretly, want to walk 5 times per week, but public goal will be 3 times). Fall is my favorite season.
Thanks for starting this thread, Molly!!

Hi everybody! (old and new)
I'm at 232ish pounds right now, down from 276 in January. I'm really excited about hitting the 50 pounds lost milestone soon. I don't have really firm goals, especially in the summer when I travel a lot. I eat craploads of fruits and veggies, and right now I"m shooting for walking about 20 miles a week. By December 1, I should be around 210-215 or so. I don't know. Sometimes I drop weight super fast, sometimes it takes me a month to lose 3 pounds, so I'm trying to avoid rigid deadlines. I am crossing my fingers that I'll be at 230 by the beginning of September, though. That's one I've been looking forward to, because then I'll be less than the weight on my driver's license.
Today was a good start. I walked 7.5 miles today. I haven't logged my food yet, but I did well, and have been enjoying all the wonderful fruits and veggies from the farmers market this time of year.
I'm looking forward to our fabulous fall!
What a great group idea!
I started at 235 and after lots of
struggle I'm at 175. My overall goal is 130 to 125. I honestly just
want to be healthy. I'll be happy whatever the final number is.
MY FALL GOALS
*Reach 160 lb
* Try a new veggie/fruit every month
* be able to run a mile.. Not run and then crawl the last bit
QOD:
My motivation is my daughter. I don't want her to grow into an unhealthy adult. She needs me to be a good role model. Also, I want to be a smoking hot bride next summer.

MOLLY
Love spicy foods! I'm not quite as bad as my husband who puts habanero hot sauce on just about everything but I do tend to choose spicier foods. I can hardly wait for the cooler weather and a nice bowl of spicy hot chili!
QOD
I use to have a serious addiction to Frank's red hot. I would put it on everything I ate. With the exception of maybe cereal and other sugary treats. Actually come to think of it I did dip animal crackers in it once.
I ate some on a day that I got sick and it ruined it for me. I love spicy foods though and I had no idea they boost your metabolism. What a bonus!
You betcha!! Jalapenos are my favorite followed by chili spice!!
um, don't love bland, but can't eat the heat my husband prefers...
but did you know that lightly steamed greenbeans are FABULOUS with green tobasco sause, garlic and salt? there is a recipie that is more specific on the lable of some of them... we usually omit the oil or sub with water/vinigar YUM

I like things moderately spicy, but not so much that the spice masks other flavors in the food. I'm not a fan of hot sauce, but I like peppers with a little heat to them, and I use an absolutely obscene amount of garlic in most of my meals.
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
