QUESTION OF THE DAY - SAT AUG 23
Saturdays are my "official weigh-in days" (OWIDs). Sometimes I have unofficial sneaky weigh-in days (USWIDs) in between. Do you have an official weigh-in day?
MOLLY
I weigh in every day I'm home. I know some it works against some people, but I like to keep tabs on things. I don't stress about the daily ups and downs, and I've seen enough water weight gains to know not to freak out about them. Sometimes, if I'm having a little plateau, I'll skip a few days just because it doesn't do me much good to keep staring at the same number every day. I think weighing daily also motivates me to drink plenty of water.
I got a little behind again...
QUESTION OF THE DAY: AUG 20
What is motivating you to want to lose weight?
The great feeling of accomplishment that I get when I put on clothes & they are loose or don't fit at all anymore. And seeing the numbers on the scale keep going down!
QUESTION OF THE DAY - AUGUST 21
Spicy? Sizzling hot? Do you like chili peppers? Spicy foods? Hot sauce? Tabasco? Do you like (or avoid) spicy foods? Did you know spicy foods can boost your metabolism?
I like mildly spicy foods, but some of them just don't settle with me.
QUESTION OF THE DAY -- FRIDAY AUGUST 22
Do you plan your meals/menus as you go throughout the day, or do you plan ahead? (Like when grocery shopping?) How and when do you decide what you will be eating on any given day?
A little bit of all of the above for me. My schedule is so crazy that it really varies day to day. I need to find some organization to this though & I'm sure I will see an even greater accomplishment from all this.
QUESTION OF THE DAY - SAT AUG 23
Saturdays are my "official weigh-in days" (OWIDs). Sometimes I have unofficial sneaky weigh-in days (USWIDs) in between. Do you have an official weigh-in day?
My official weigh in day is Friday, end of the week but beginning of weekend. I do tend to slip sometimes though & will just weigh in on the next day that I remember.

I don't have an official weigh-in day, (bad, I know) I just weigh two or three times a week when I 'feel' thin. Or really fat, if I want to torture myself. :)

MOLLY
Although I typically weigh everyday, I have 3 official weigh in days that I record in my weight log. Monday (to see how bad the weekend was), Wednesday (to see if I'm headed back in the right direction) and Friday (to see how the week really went). Of these the Friday weight is the one I really watch from week to week. By checking several times a week I get a better idea of what my trend is and can also look back and tell what affect certain foods (ie high sodium days) have on my weight. Seeing my weight daily helps keep me motivated as I see the number drop (because I'm so happy to be lower) and when it increases (I will get tougher on counting calories and planning).
Isn't today weight in day? Well I did so good this week. I didn't eat any pork or red meet. Another one of my goals. Still didn't exercise but there is always tomorrow.
SW: 312
SW(at time of countdown): 271
CW: 267
Total lost this week......4 lbs
I'm guessing that my body is taking well to going back hard on my diet. I was slipping big time this is just what I needed!
I weigh myself every morning but I only record in my weight log on Monday and Thursday.
Anyway, I am progressing nicely toward my weight loss goal!
- Starting Weight for this Group: 283
- Current Weight as of Today: 276.6
- Weight lost toward Goal: 6.4 pounds
- Weight needed to achieve Goal: 13.6 pounds
OOhh I want to join!
I'm Katie, I'm 31. I've been lurking for quite a while, but seldom post. I think I will benefit from a little accountability to someone other than my self. I am an ICU nurse, on the night shift, which makes for a few challenges as far as eating healthy. My start weight is 275, current 240, and goal 150. I have been at this since March, and need a jump start to break the plateau I have hit.
My goals for fall are:
To lose at least 20lbs. Really, I want to be under 200 by the end of the year, but the plateau I have been on for the last month or so will make that a difficult goal to achieve.
To exercise at least three times per week. Currently this is a little hit or miss for me. I tend to be an all or nothing kind of girl, so I either work out every day, or not at all.
To drink more water, at least 80-100 ounces per day. This is another hit or miss for me. I do great at work, where there is a Ice/water machine that I walk past about a hundred times a day. But, I have a hard time at home, as I don't like the taste of my city water, and don't like to buy bottled.
QUESTION OF THE DAY: AUG 20
What is motivating you to want to lose weight?
I just want to feel better. I want to be happy with my body, and looks. I want to have more energy. I don't want my weight to affect what I can or cannot do.
QUESTION OF THE DAY - AUGUST 21
Spicy? Sizzling hot? Do you like chili peppers? Spicy foods? Hot sauce? Tabasco? Do you like (or avoid) spicy foods? Did you know spicy foods can boost your metabolism?
I like a little spice. but not so much that I can't taste the food. I love red hot, Tabasco, and my homemade salsa from my garden.
QUESTION OF THE DAY -- FRIDAY AUGUST 22
Do you plan your meals/menus as you go throughout the day, or do you plan ahead? (Like when grocery shopping?) How and when do you decide what you will be eating on any given day?
I usually don't plan ahead. I get most of my produce from my garden or my local farmer's market so alot depends on what is ripe or fresh. I add whatever proteins are on sale, but have a few staples that I eat almost every day, like Fiber1, cottage cheese, and yogurt.
QUESTION OF THE DAY - SAT AUG 23
Saturdays are my "official weigh-in days" (OWIDs). Sometimes I have unofficial sneaky weigh-in days (USWIDs) in between. Do you have an official weigh-in day?
My official weigh in day is Monday, to try to keep me on track over the weekend. I do weigh almost every day just to keep tabs on where I am through the week.
QUESTION OF THE DAY AUG. 24
- Peanut Butter: chunky or creamy?
- Chocolate: milk or dark?
- Sodas: Coke, Pepsi or other? (Diet, of course)

My usual weigh-in day is Sunday. I can't do it every day; I'd drive myself nuts.
One a good note, though, I finally lost the 2 pounds that decided to sneak back on 2 weeks ago, so with that hiccup out of the way I'm hopefully back on track.

Chunky! (I'm more of an almond butter person. I use the machine that grinds it fresh at the store, and I love the little crunchy bits. I was raised on Skippy Super Chunk.)
Dark! or bittersweet
Ginger ale! (Not diet, real gingery ginger ale, and not Canada Dry or ones like that, but the good ones that come in glass bottles.) I think my favorite carbonated beverage in general is half soda water and half cranberry juice with a little lime.

PB: creamy, but not often - I loved it as a child, but it now doesn't like me so much (reflux)
Chocolate: yes, please - I don't care which, just gimme the chocolate!
Soda: NO DIET SODA - EVER (unless I'm at a certain friend's house, where I will drink Fresca); if I want a soda (which isn't often, since many of them have caffeine, and I've broken the caffeine habit) I usually drink the Whole Foods house label, 365, since it's made with cane sugar not HFCS (although if I look around I can find Mexican Coke or Kosher Coke, which are also made with sugar - those are my actual favorites)
For me, it's never going to be about denial, only about choices. Be sensible, be moderate, and move your behind (my diet doesn't seem to be the issue, just getting enough exercise).
5'5-5'6, 130lbs. Would like to get back down to 120 if possible.
My goals are the following:
1. To lose those last 5-10lbs before November 11th
2. Water Goal: Drink much more
3. Exercise Goal: Increase considerably
4. Gain a better self perception of myself.
To Answer the questions:
1. My motivation for this is A. To increase my self-esteem B. To get back in shape in order to participate in a couple upcoming 5Ks C. To increase my health levels so they are not a large issue as I get older
2. I LOVE spicy foods
3. I decide my meals throughout the day without any pre-planning. I tend to devise my meals depending on what I feel like eating during the morning hours (which for the most part is fruit and vegetables) and how many calories I have left to spare around dinner time. Lunch is usually where I splurge the most!
4. I do not have an official weigh in date. I am thinking about making one (possibly Mondays) in order to control the obsessive-couple-times-a-day weigh ins I have a habit of.
I look forward to meeting everyone and hearing their stories!
Peanut Butter: Not a huge fan
Chocolate: Also not a huge fan (*ducks*)
Soda: Obviously diet but because I dislike the taste of normal soda... but mainly whatever is on sale :P I will claim a preference for Coke. I find it not as sweet as pepsi
I've decided that Saturday will be my official weigh in day- unfortunately the scale didn't budge this week. I was surprised, as I finally got the eating under control. I have added strength training so I may be retaining a bit more water- at least that's what I'd like to think. I'm not going to let it get me down.
QOD: Peanut butter: love it- chunky
Chocolate- I prefer the sweetness of milk, but am a big fan of both
Soda: diet orange
Hi! I just wanted to join this thread because it seems very promising and a very cool idea. :)
I am 5'5 and a half... 125.5 pounds and my goal by December 1 is to be 120!
I would like to become much more fit and toned... So my goals are:
1. To strength train three times a week after I complete my second goal which is...
2. To complete a half marathon in October!
3. To continue running after #2
4. To gain a way better perception of myself and get a better self esteem so I can always feel good when I look at the mirror.
5. Fit into size 7 jeans very comfortably!
As for today's question :P ...
Peanut Butter: chunky!!!!!!
Chocolate: This is tough, I really like both ALTHOUGH I can't eat just plain milk chocolate but I can dark so I guess I like dark better?
Sodas: Sodas all make my tummy hurt by half a can, but I always liked Dr. Pepper?

Well I would have to say :
Creamy I get tired of ripping the bread with the chunky
Dark chocolate but I don't eat much chocolate of any kind
Diet coke
I love peanut butter as long as its the all natural kind no sugar no salt. I only have the dark chocolate I can't remember what milk choc. taste like. I don't drink soda anymore but I was always a coke drinker before. Hope everyone is doing well!

Peanut butter: my fav is chunky, but I usually only allow myself PB2
Chocolate: Either, as long as it is GOOD chocolate, no grainy, gritty suff please
Soda: Coke, or Dr. Pepper
Do you have an official weigh-in day?
I weigh everyday and average it out on Sundays since I can't stay off the darn scale! It calls my name every morning!! lol
For the next question.....
Peanut butter: creamy, but I really don't eat much of it as it doesn't like me! lol
Chocolate: I love milk chocolate! BUT since I began my life style change, I switched it to DARK!
Soda: I use to drink Diet Pepsi like it was going out of style! Atleast a 6 pack a day! Yeah, no joke! But I stopped drinking it last year and haven't touched it since. Only drink water now, with an occasional Diet Hot Chocolate (25 cals).
