I just don't get it.

I lost 8 pounds my first week and the second week I lost nothing.  This is my third week and I've lost NOTHING still.

I'm eating 1200 calories a day and walking and I weigh 271 lbs.  My doctor has OK'd the 1200 calories a day for me so please don't say it's "not healthy" since I'm only 19.

What am I doing wrong?  Is this normal?  I'm so confused! My husband is dieting too and he's eating a LOT more than me and he's losing 6 pounds a week and he's not even THIS overweight!

Help me.. I'm about to just stop dieting.. I mean, if I stay the same weight basically starving myself all day, why can't I stay the same weight eating 2,000 calories and actually be happy?

You should enter your stats into the "burn meter" tool to determine what your body is burning throughout the day and eat about 500 cals less than that number. Not too sure of your height and age but it will probably be somewhere in the neighbourhood of 1800 cals. You really need to be eating a lot more.

To best explain the concept of calories in and calories out go to the home page/getting started.  It will explain to you how many calories a day you should be eating and how many you should burn.  It sounds as though you're not eating enough during the day. Your body may be in starvation mode where it's holding on to every calorie since you've dropped your consumption to 1200 calories a day.  The more you weight the more calories you need per day. As you weight drops so does your calorie count.  And by the way, men just lose weight faster than we do.

its normal - the weight won't come off in steady increments but in chunks, its hard to be patient but just try and trust the plan and just keep doing what you're doing, as long as you're within the suggested calorie deficit without going below 1200.

I'm not going to hammer on the 1200 calories other than to say that I am also overweight and if I go below 2000 calories, I stop losing weight.  If I keep it up around 2500, then I lose, and I lose fast..  I also lift weights 3x/week.

So while your doctor may have OK'd the 1200 calories, it might be that your body doesn't like going that low.  Lots of people find that too much of a deficit stalls weight loss... and there's a very good chance that your body burns over 3000 calories a day, depending on your lifestyle.  That's a pretty big deficit.  Personally I've found through trial and error that my body doesn't like more than a 750 calorie deficit.

I'm currently at 212 down from 256, as a reference point.

You are in starvation mode. 1200 calories seem way too few to be eating. Google it up and understand how to avoid letting your body go into starvation mode.

Fat loss is generally in the range of 1-2lbs per week. The rest of the weight you lost in the first week is likely food, water, and muscle loss.

Men lose fat easier than women because they have more muscle mass. Muscle contributes to fat loss.

You eating 1200 calories a day is like a size 7 foot trying to wear a size 5 shoe...and we're all trying to explain to you why that's a problem. Seriously, wear the shoe (bmr) that fits, not the one belonging to a 5'0" 100lb woman.

How do I get out of starvation mode?  Just eat more calories?

Yeah,just start eating more calories,but healthy food.
