Forum for Thirtysomethings with no kids

Quote  |  Reply

Don't get me wrong, I love kids, love my niece, love my best friends baby, all of the above. But I don't have one of my own, so I can't relate to the trials of having to work my life around one. I'm looking for like minded people to rant, lose, cry, celebrate with, women or men, single or married, lots to lose or a little.

A little about me

I've always been fat, a little and a lot, at different times of course! I've always been very active and I'm hoping there are other active fat people out there like me. I like to run, road bike, mountain bike and race (very slowly). In fact I keep myself motivated by signing up for various races. I live in a resort town so looking your best is a bit of an oxymoron here, it's hard not to get yourself down when you're not 21 and 110pds, but at the same time it's very motivating.

I've been as big as 238 and as low as 145, but I'm currently 185pds, I'm 5'7", single and 39yo with the mind of a teenager! haha

My goal is to lose an additional 40pds though the last 53pds took me 8 years soooooo hmmm hoping I will find others to help keep the motivation up and speed up my committment!

Please add on if you would like to join this stream.

My first goal is my next duathalon September 21 and I would like to lose 10pds before then.

I like to weigh in on Mondays, but I party at our Thursday night bike races so weekends aren't as hard for me Tongue out

Hi Haley - Great to meet you too!  And fan TASTIC job on the weight lost so far, you look awesome!

i just turned 40.  can i still play?  single, no kids - just a dog!

my heaviest was 167 (i'm 5'8").  i'm now at 148.9, which wouldn't suck so badly except that last fall i got down to 137.7.  i'm in grad school, which has a way of making itself a priority.  i feel like i'm back in the groove now, though.

my exercise routine consists mostly of hiking with Kenya (dog) and yardwork (i have a manual reel mower; it's hard work!!).

I love kids.  I work with kids!!!  Taking care of 2 cats, a disabled mother, and a father with cancer is enough for me.

After months of paying for another online diet plan, I (re)discovered this site 3 days ago.  I love it.  It makes so much sense to see the numbers in front of me.

I'm 33, single, and looking to reclaim my life!

I've been on the heavier side my whole life.  There was always a reason to put off taking care of myself (work, school, care taking responsibilities) and my responsibilities were a good excuse to stop living my life.  The pounds have been creeping up for a long time.  I currently weigh 207, and hope to reach my goal weight of 145 someday.

That would be me.  The only "kids" I have to structure my life around are my two kitties - who seem to feel that I should feed them on a regular basis!  Laughing

I've never been thin; I don't know if I ever will be - but I'd like to get back down to a healthy weight (am currently 169 at almost 5'4; aiming for 140 or below).  Two years ago my sister moved in with me, bringing her junk food.  She's since moved out but stress and accumulated bad eating habits resulted in me gaining about 15 pounds (160 to 175) over the last two years.  This summer's "project" is to fix my eating habits, get back to eating whole grains and fresh fruit and veggies (rather than frozen meals and take out) and get back down to 160.  This website has been amazingly useful/motivating so far, and I'm hoping it'll help me stick with the new eating/exercising plan once September hits.

Thanks to everyone for responding and yes 40something counts too, I'll be there myself in around 6 months, wouldn't do me any good if I couldn't post to my own thread! Tongue out

Looks like we were moved to motivation from weightloss which is fine by me.  I'm new to CC.  I too used to be a part of an "online" weight loss community, I liked it and was looking for an alternative, writing down what goes in my piehole is an absoulute must for me!

Anyone else training for any races or have any specific goals, other than the obvious "lets not be so fat anymore" tee hee

I just started using CC on Monday and now it's Friday so I'm sorry if I come off super KEEN, because I am super KEEN right now.  Exercise every day, under my calorie amount, cutting out sugar, trust this will change and I'm going to need you all!  I'm definately a control, control, control, BINGE eater, it's one thing I'm trying to change.

What kind of eaters are you?

I'm 31,male, no kids. Most weight was 350. Currently 292. Goal of <10% body fat. Started CC about 2 weeks ago. I've been on a diet for quite a while.

May I join you????   LOL

I love the title of this post.    Hope it is ok if I am a kid myself.......

I am 31, school teacher, bf of 4 years who is my only human kid-type person other than at school, 4 cats, a dog, and some fish.

I started at 230, am at 167 currenty, hope to be 150 or below soon!!!!!

I love working out -----  running with my Sugar doggie, biking on a stationary, and the bf just got a Bowflex, so that's nice.

If only I could get and KEEP the booze and food under control.   ( ;

Party on, Garth!

----edit to reply to jett --  I am OCD.  Like Monk.  to a point....  I am usually 100% on or off, as far as eating/drinking goes....   I log almost every day, but sometimes I quit on myself.   It has taken me a long time (31 years) to get to a point where I do not feel as if food is my friend if that makes sense.)

boyfriend in the military and leaving for Afghanistan August 26.

My heaviest was about 160 and am currently 116 (5'2''). I would like to lose a few more, but mostly need the motivation to maintain.  I'm also pretty active, I'm a runner, swimmer, and golfer.

I'm in the same boat as Ka - all my friends are married and have or are having kids (I'm getting good at buying baby shower gifts)
BOO baby showers!!!   (lol)

My little brother in Afghanistan right now too, edunph.  (prayers to you and yours!)

Hi!

I just turned 33 a month ago, have been married for five years, but no children - hubby doesn't want any, I am not sure if I want any, and have nine nieces and nephews anyway!

My highest weight was a year ago - about 180 lbs, I am now hovering around 150, and would ideally like to go down to 140 or so.

I don't actually count my calories every day - I am trying to stick to South Beach Diet and use this website every now and then to check the calorific values of various foods. Love the forum though!

(And I am glad not to be the only 30-something without children around here!)

Hola,

I just turned 37 2 months ago. No kids but my boyfriend has 2 (they don't live with us) do I still qualify??

I am currently 183, my highest is 185 and I'm 5'2. Cry  Over the yrs the pounds keep finding me... in 6 months I gained 40lbs!!  Then over the past 5 yrs I've gained another 30.  My lowest was 135 and I'd like to get back there some day.

Not much of an exerciser, have probs with my lower back and knees so even walking is a chore (any suggestions?).  I thought to try this out ... maybe get my calories under control and eventually start trying to ride a bike.

30, married, no kids (just a dog MinPin :-)

My lightest (in adult years) 155 lb, gained 90 lb when moved to the States from Russia. Started CC when I was at my heaviest 246.5 lb in April, lost 44.5 lbs so far. Very excited about hitting halfway mark in 2 lbs. My goal weight is to get back to or as close to as possible to 155 lb before X-mas. My husband's family is having family pics taken around X-mas and I want to look my best, plus next summer I am definitely buying bikkini!

I've never been part of a group here but here goes...

I'm 30, turning 31 soon - single and no kids!

My weight has stayed the same, give or take 5-10 lbs. I'm almost 5'7'' 120 lbs. I've always been slender but luckily still have an hourglass shape. I am very much into maintainence as I do exercise and my diet has been a very healthy one since my early 20's. Before that I ate fast food all the time and never exercised.

I got into this site while doing research back a couple years ago when I decided I wanted to quit smoking.  I did quit smoking on New Years Day 2007 so its been a year and almost 7 months.

I had a different screen name before, now I am lippygal.

I have been in the investment advisory business for 9 years - specifically retirement planning.

My interests include cooking, traveling, pretty much anything to do with health/beauty, and the arts.

I can be easily mistaken but I do I accept that.  No I will not explain why or how...lol

Hi there!  I just noticed this forum, can I join?

I'm 35, married, no kids, 2 little dogs.   I am 5'4", currently at 149.6 with thunder thighs and stuck in a rut.  Working out and eating right, but no luck yet.  Wanting to drop 25 - 30 lbs. by Christmas!
I love how active this post is  --  ( :    glad to meet all of you!

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
