I'm new here and would like a older group to chat with. Maybe we can go down the trail to Skinnyville together.

I have had a few health problems but I am in great shape and healthy now and want to get this weight.

Could use any and all help. Would anyone care to join me in my new adventure?

Been swimming or water arobic several times this week for an hour a time. Now down 8. Every little bit helps. Just doing my journal seems to help. Gosh I had no idea how many calories and sugar dates had. No more dates for me. lol

Yah the water work out is great

Hi Donna I wondered where you ran off to. Things are slow here on posting. Do you post elsewhere also?

Donna V

I'm still here too :)  Just not posting much because I don't have much to report. My weight is doing good, but I gained a couple on my family reunion trip I just got back from.  I'm back on track with eating and exercising so hopefully the scale should be back down to 132 in a few more days.

Donna V - good job on the loss!!  Now just keep going and don't give up!  Life will try to get you off track but you can resist.

Alice

Hi Dont be afraid to try leg weights and dumbells for resistence

I look at this way if I am gonna work out gonna do it 110%

Most of the women that do not use resistence do not experience the weight loss

that the one that do experience

Alice how is your trail and climbing doing. I haven't seen any pictures for awhile. Always love to look at them. We haven't had a family reunion for years. My family what is left lives here and my son lives less than 30 minutes away so we all see each other often. Marvin only has one brother left and neither of us have Aunts, Uncles, or cousins left. I miss our once large family gatherings.

Donna Yes before i became ill in Feb i went to the gym 3 days a week, I had a exercise class that I lead for 4 years but gave it up and a friend is now the leader. I also did the weights and bands, never used the leg weights. I use to walk 4-5 miles and rode bikes. I gave up the bike because it gave me chest pains because I over did. Seems like I have trouble not overdoing. lol

Margie how you doing? I called Monica yesterday and was surprised that she sold her house. She just said it was time for a change and she plans on doing a lot of traveling.

Hi everyone - its good to see more posting here again.

Alice - Where did you go for the reunion?  Was it close by to you?

Donna1000 - Good to see you back again.

DonnaV - Monica surprised everyone and I think even herself when her house sold that fast.  I think she will enjoy a new direction.

I think my vertigo is seasonal - or at least weather-related.  Last year it was during monsoon season too and then again in the winter when it was rainy.  I looked it up on google and I am not the only one with it that way.  I also found out that a neck injury or problem can cause vertigo too so I guess I will just have to get used to it.  I can function with it - its just a another pain in the you-know-what.  My knee is better or maybe its just that I have something else to worry about right now.....lol.

Have a blessed day!!  Margie

I find this a very interesting site if you want to know about food some of it is really scary. I have been watching a lot of the videos. Trouble is doesn't seem like there is much we can do to change it unless we just don't buy food. lol

Donna, here are some hiking photos for you. This was a 3 day backpack I did last month. I've been hiking almost every weekend but I'm always too busy or tired to post the photos.

Margie, my reunion was in Rochester, New York!  So I spent way too much time on planes and in airports, and then driving in a rental car. I also drove to PA to visit a couple of friends. There is no healthy food anywhere, and no chance for exercise when you are travelling. I'm glad to be back into my routine at home! It will probably be next week before I'm back down to my pre-trip weight.  Glad to hear your knee is feeling better. Sometimes exercise actually keeps it feeling pretty good, at least that's how mine works.

Keep up the good work, ladies, and we'll all lose a few more pounds this summer!

Donna - that link was pretty scary - almost makes you want not eat.....almost.

Alice - that would be a long trip.  I remember when I went to DC - it was alot of traveling and not alot of down time...lol.  Its always good to be back home.

Just checking in to say hi.  I am holding at that 10 pound loss due to my own stupid pigheadedness.  I ate chocolate.  The good thing is that I didn't gain so I am off the junk until I lose another ten...lol.

I saw this on Dr. Oz yesterday.  Apparently it was on before and I missed it.  Some of these might be worth trying. He said you can try one of these for a week and see if it makes a difference.I know one week doesn't seem like alot of time to show results, but I figure two weeks would be better.

For belly fat:  GLA and one cup of beans with each meal.

For Butt fat:  Chitosan - 1000mg a day and replace two meals a day with Whey protein shakes

For upper arm fat:  6 cups of parsley tea a day and 3 sweet potatoes a day.

For thigh fat:  1000mg of Calcium Pyruvate before meals and no meat

For overall fat:  Pure green coffee bean extract - 800mg  30 min before each meal with large glass of water.

The last one was tried by two viewers who did nothing to change what they were doing - they just added the extract to their daily routine and each one lost weight in one week.  One lost 3 pounds and the other lost 6 pounds.  Not bad.  I think I am going to order the extract and see what happens.  Don't want to do more than one at a time because then you don't know which one is actually working if any.

One cup of beans has A LOT of calories! I'd be afraid of gaining weight with that tip.

I wonder how much caffeine is in the coffee bean extract.

I'm holding steady also, but trying hard this week.

Alice

Hi Alice,

It seems like the beans would bloat you too, at least they would me...lol.  I read that a daily dose of the coffee bean extract has less caffeine than a 1/2 cup of coffee.  Not bad - I have to be careful with caffeine.  I also found out that you can get it at Walmart for only $9.98

Hi everyone,

So far, I am feeling better this morning.  I have decided to quit taking all the supplements that I am taking.  I found that alot of them can cause dizziness so I am stopping them all - so no coffee bean extract for now...lol.   I was taking coconut oil (for the Omega 3's), turmeric (for my knee), CoQ10 and Raspberry Ketones.  They ALL have been reported to cause dizziness.  I know that my vertigo is from my inner ear, but after those major room spinning symptoms subside, I am still left with some dizziness and started researching more causes.

So - I am stopping all of them and after the vertigo is gone (which it will go away eventually).  I might start taking them again one at a time to see if it comes back.

I am so hyper-sensitive to anything that it just may be the supplements that are doing me no good.  I can't even take a mulit-vitamin without alot of food or right before I go to bed or I get an upset stomach.

We'll keep our fingers crossed and see what happens!

Hugs, Margie

Hi everyone.  Long time since I was here.  Thought I would check in to see how everyone is doing, but it looks like we have all been gone for a while.

My vertigo is doing better.  It should be completely gone soon.  I can't wait to feel normal again.  Actually, I am going to feel better than my normal.  I started juicing and just eating more fruits and veggies.  Staying away from processed and junk foods and too much animal proteins.  Not that I will never have them again, just cutting way back.

Since I was here last, I had another bad bout with my stomach and ended up getting an endoscopy that showed that I have severe gastritis.  The doctor can't figure out what is causing it.  The endoscopy showed no cancer, no ulcers and basically nothing bad.Laughing  They did a biopsy and blood tests checking for h-pylori and other stuff and both came out fine.  That is a good thing, but now he is stumped.   He says it could be a viral infection and that just has to run its course.  No treatment for that except for prilosec.  He started me out on a really high dose of that and just Friday put me on a one-a-day dose of Aciphex.  I will see him again in six weeks.

Hence the diet change.  I keep getting these 'age-related' things.  Vertigo, arthritis, and now gastritis.  I am hoping that a diet of high nutrient foods will get rid of all of this crap.  Can I say crap here?  Well, just did and we'll see if they take it off...lol.  One really good thing about doing this change is that after just two days, I already lost 3 pounds.  It has also cleaned me out really well, if you know what I mean.  That is probably why I lost that much in such a short time...lol.

Hope you all are faring well.  See you later.

HUGS, Margie

Sorry I haven't been on here.  Margie, you are fixing old problems and getting new ones!  Drat!  I hope you can clear up what ails you and keep losing at the same time.

I am maintaining in the mid 130's but want to be maintaining in the low 130's. Maintenance is as hard as losing, so I might as well just pretend I am losing or at least trying to.

Starting Monday the 3rd I'm going on my longest backpacking trip ever. I am doing the High Sierra Trail with two guys.  It is 73 miles and we'll take 6 days.  Up until now the longest I've done is 3 days and 2 nights.  My biggest issue is how to fit 6 days of food in the pack. I want to take 2500-2800 calories per day so I will be sure to lose a few pounds. I'm getting pretty excited and nervous too.

I'll let you all know how the trip goes after next week!

Alice

Wow, Alice,  You go girl!  I hope you have a wonderful time on your hike and that your knee behaves.  Post the pics when you get home.  Safe and Happy Trails!

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing.

Alice - how was your hike?  I hope your knee didn't give you any trouble.

I am doing really well on my new way of eating.  I refuse to call it a diet since I will be doing this for the rest of my life.  I really look forward to the juicing now.  I found a recipe that I really like and am sticking with that.  I may try kale again, but they say if you don't like kale to use spinach and that is what I really like.  I juice about three or four handfuls of spinach, one whole bag of baby carrots, 1/3 or 1/2 cucumber, about 1/4 cabbage and 2 apples.  It gives me enough for two big glasses a day or I can save one for the next day and it is really good.  It also keeps me from getting hungry which is huge for me since I used to be hungry all the time.  I guess my body was hungry for nutrients and wasn't getting any so I was always hungry.  Now I am getting those nutrients and it is a nice change.  I have lost 15 pounds and I can feel my clothes feeling looser and looser every day.

We have been getting alot of rain lately.  This summer's monsoon was really wet and this past week it rained so hard that my yard was flooded.  I will try and post the pics here so you can see.

I went to a concert on Wednesday and saw Crosby, Stills & Nash.  They were really good.  They actually sound better than I remember.  I went by myself and had a really good time with all the other 'oldies'...lol.

That's all for now - have a blessed day.

HUGS, Margie
