Sometimes music can effect your motivation to work out.
I am currently into Selena Gomez, Britney Spears, and 2AM Club for working out.
What are some other good songs/artists?
i try to work out to rock music or hip hop something with a good beat or a song that i can relate to to get the anger out so i can work out harder.
I lost all of my weight listening to Evanescence and I'm not a metal guy but Amy Lee's voice is amazing and the music motivated me. Today, in maintenance I listen to old school most of the time which for me is stuff from the 80’s and 90’s like Janet Jackson, Karyn White, Patrice Rushen, EWF, Chaka Kahn, Whitney Houston, Ready for the world, Babyface, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam, After 7, Evelyn King, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Brian McKnight. It’s fun to read about what types of music motivates others to lose weight.
(@nutwood - also, "Bizarre Love Triangle" is good too...)
Like many things, it's all in the eye (or ear) of the beholder. That is, it depends upon what gets you going. Depending upon my frame of mind, here's some stuff I've listened to on my iPod when cycling:
Anthony Robbins - Daily Magic CD, from the "Get the Edge" program
Rocky Balboa: The Best of Rocky
John Tesh - Live at Red Rocks (no, I'm not joking about this one)
Dave Brubeck - For All Time (5 CD box set)
Dave Grusin - Collection
Sade - The Ultimate Collection, 12" Collection, Lovers Live
Tommy Emmanuel - Live One
Tower of Power - 40th Anniversary, Live and in Living Color, Power
Go West - The Best of Go West
Garth Brooks - The Hits
Frank Sinatra - Nothing But the Best
Chicago - A&E Live by Request
Boz Scaggs - Greatest Hits Live
Billy Joel - 12 Gardens
As you can see, I'm a man of many moods...lol.
If you like dance or club music, I strongly recommend Daft Punk. Awesome music and really gets you going.
I listen to Paramore, Britney Spears and some Lady GaGa
Faithless. Excellent songs for running long distances to as well. Insomnia is the best dance tune of all time. But if I want a quick burst I need angry music and I find Rage Against the Machine excellent for that.
The Broadway cast recording of 'American Idiot' featuring Green Day. Great workout music!
I always listen to NEW ORDER TOO, but i think thats just cause i love new order, but ido like some folk music, i can not listen to that it makes me fall asleep,
i need more new good music, but good music is all relative, i wont go to gyms that play club music or pop music on the speakers, i find it annoying... madonna is about as poppy as i can get.
Bobo1 - Have you heard of Mumford and Sons? They are a folk style band but a lot of their songs are quite upbeat.
DJ Tiesto!!!
I have so many playlists on my Ipod that I run to. I'm one who likes to run TO the beat of the music, not just have it on in the background, so I have had to work hard to try to find music that has the right tempo. My daughter told me about a website called "jog.FM". It is great! You put in a song that you like to walk or run to, tempo wise, and it pulls up hundreds of songs that have the same RPM. You can even listen to samples of the songs to see if you like it or not.
My current favorite running playlist has a few from The Smiths, a few from Linken Park, Good Charlotte, Anberlin... excellent motivating running music.
I almost always listen to Ratatat when I work out. It always helps me push myself. Not sure if you're into it, it's a lot of beats without words, but give it a listen.
Chicane are brilliant for running and the latest Christina Aguilera Album 'Bionic' has some good tunes with a strong beat
I love listening to hard rock or anything with a fast beat.
The Offspring has a lot of good, fast songs. Shinedown, Disturbed, Evanescence, Adelitas Way, etcetc. I also like running to country but it's gotta be more what ya like ;) I hate hip hop but it's great to run to.
Hey! I always listen to Girl Talk when I run. He does these amazing mash ups so you never end up getting bored of a song! hope you check him out :) http://www.myspace.com/#!/6078136http://www.myspace.com/#!/6078 136
I like to listen to good solid beats when I work out. Totally with Maxine78 on the Rage Against the Machine front. Brilliant to get you pumping. The Contino Sessions by Death in Vegas is also great to run too. I'd also recommend Massive Attack, Blackalicious, Curtis Mayfield, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Black Country Communion, Infectious Grooves, AC/DC and Black Sabbath.

I'm not a big Offspring fan, but I love hard rock, too, and the rest of those bands are fun to listen to. I've noticed that, in addition to Shinedown, Seether, Chevelle, and A Perfect Circle all have some really good tempo-ed songs. I don't run, but those work for the elliptical. (Btw, "Strung Out on Seether" is awesome; it's a "tribute" CD of Seether songs played on string instruments -- people who like classical music and Seether will love it!)
I love Mumford & Sons! I've never used the CD to work out to, but I love listening to it in my car!
DUBSTEPPPP. DRUM AND BASSSS.
Make for awesome working out motivation music. Anyone else have spotify? I have a gym playlist on there if anyone wants to trade :)
Sleigh Bells - Tell 'Em (great song for warming up)
Cascada - Fever
Daft Punk - Harder Better Faster Stronger
Fake Blood - I Think I Like It
Ciara - Work
Shinichi Osawa - Push (Alex Gopher Remix)
Kid Sister - Right Hand Hi / Control
Mason vs. Princess Superstar - Perfect Exceeder
The Kills - Cheap and Cheerful (SebastiAn Remix)
