so i have been doing 90 minutes of cardio on my treadmill and stationary bike every day and also strength training two days since Saturday and i consumed 1500 calories. i own a digital kitchen scale and i am sure about my calorie intake to some extent, and since i always read on success stories people say they lose lots of weight in the first week i thought i will be the same but i am still at my start weight :( why i haven't lost weight yet? its been five days so far. it doesn't help that my friend who was so much heavier than me now is 189 from 250 and i am still here at 205. i know i sound so whiny i am sorry but well what is wrong with my plan?

Are you drinking enough water?  Do you have any medical issues or medications?  Are your 1500 calories getting a decent food grade on CC?  Do you feel any healthier?  Do your clothes fit any better?  Have you taken measurements for comparison?  Do you feel any stronger?  Have you previously been on fad diets that your body might be recovering from?

The pounds on the scale are not the only measurement of success.

Hmm yes I drink at least 3 liters of pure water every day while working out also I drink 2 cups of green tea. Also I eat lots of cucumber more than five, about 5 tomatoes and 2-5 apples because of their fiber content. No I don’t have any medical issues. I don’t use CC calories grade because I don’t have enough time I count calories in my journal, I know about fiber, protein and calories content of my food using my digital scale. Yes I took measurements Friday but I think it is too early to see results in size it has been only five days so far. Yes I feel a liiiiittle stronger not very much though. My clothes are not tight because I have asthma I wear loose light clothes most of the time so they don't help with feeling anything. No when ever I wanted to lose weight I just count calories not below 1250.

Well I will wait till friday maybe I haven't been retaining water to lose 3 lbs of water weight fast the first days.

I didn't get dissappointed and depressed though after I wrote this I walked 3 miles till now :)

You are doing everything right. Youjust need to be patient and continue what you are doing. Different people need different time to start loosing weight, as far as i know not many people start loosing from the day first. For example i needed 3 weeks to start loosing, and then i was loosing every week. Don't get disappointed, you will be there. Give yourself more time. On the way to your goal you will have many bumps. You just need to stay on it.

You probably don't want to hear this but... it took me about 3 months when I first started to see any results on the scale. I have hypothyroid though and that could explain some of it. I was doing 100 minutes on the treadmill and walking a lot outside and it still took me that long. I was so ready to give up but my husband just kept telling me to stick with it. I am sooooo glad I listened to him. I have lost just over 100 pounds. You can do this just give your body some time. I agree with turquoise67, there are going to be many bumps on your way to your goal. You just need to push through them. Remember slow and steady.

I started dieting in january at 225lb and only lost 1-2 lb in my first couple of weeks, I was down to 195 by early april as well.  Like someone else said - everyone loses weight at different rates.  :-)
