Hello vegetarians and vegans!

I'd love to see a vegan and vegetarian forum here, so i thought i'd start the trend!

What do you guys do to keep your diet balanced? Lately i've been eating too many carbs, and not enough protein.

What's your go-to staple food for when you're on the go?

Homemade peanut butter protein bars - nom nom nom. Muscle milk when I have a long day ahead of me (15g protein in the lite version). Homemade hummus with veggies. We also copied Chipotle's "burrito bowl" idea, which is basically everything you want in a burrito thrown into a bowl instead of wrapped in a tortilla. Use black beans and leave out the rice, throw in a variety of grilled veggies, and don't skimp on the avocado. Get more value out of the carbs you do eat by choosing brown rices and whole-wheat breads and pastas. Brown rice pasta is actually pretty good. Do you eat eggs? They are loaded with protein and the hard-boiled ones travel well and can be added to all kinds of things. Also, hemp protein in a shake with almond milk is a great way to start the day.

We have a vegetarian forum right here!  Welcome.

And ... hummus!!

My go-to dinner is a whole wheat wrap filled with black beans, salsa and Parmesan cheese.

My go-to breakfast is Greek yogurt with fruit.

My go-to lunch is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. :)

I'm also eating too many carbs and not enough protein. But I'm trying to fix that.

fruit, veggies and hummus, homemade veggie burgers (I used to by the processed ones, but the homemade ones are much better)

Wraps (almost anything, I use hummus instead of butter or mayo, and I still have a thing for tofurky slices)

cold slice of vegan pizza (Daiya is a new addiction, that I need to watch)

Subway veggie delight, no cheese, with avacado.

Can't think of others

Hi! I'm trying to switch to a vegan diet as well, but am having trouble with what I can/can't eat. I know we can't consume anything from an animal but that cuts out  more than I realized. I also read we can't consume most dressings, some breads, etc. If anyone would like to shed some light that would be great!

Since I've been just vegetarian, my go-to's have been:

-veggie burgers by boca or morning star

-veggie buffalo wings by morning star

-veggie or cheese pizza

-peanut butter for protein

-eggs for protein

-vegetable soups

-popcorn yumm
