This is part 3 of a weight loss challenge (the original was Spring Challenge) and part 2 of the Summer Challenge. Summer Challenge Part 2, July 1st to Sept 1st 10-15lbs. You can join new for this but some are returners :)

Start is July 1st but I am posting the thread for sign ups.

Guidelines:

-Beginners post (post anytime: before/during the start of the challenge (group will be closed to new people on the 2nd or 3rd of July), 'start weight for the challenge/group', 'goal weight for the end of August/beginning of September'.

-Measurements are an option to post too.

-'Weigh in weekly' and update with any 'additional information' as you like (daily/weekly whenever)

-End post (optional), 're cap stats' and end with any additional information as you like.

I'd love to join! The dates are perfect for me, as well. 5'10" female, 22 years old.

I would love to join the group. The only problem- I will be camping where there is no service from june 30-july 7. I will begin posting after that. My goal is to get to 185 by the begining of august. I really would love to be at 170 by December. Right now my weight is 195. 5'8" female.

Please count me in as I need to have accountability or I dont stay motivated.  I have a really hard time with staying on track.  Right now I am at 204 and 5'3 female.  My goal is to be at 180 by the end of August.  Hopefully this will be the right forum for me.

I'm 200.7# today but I'll post my official start weight when the challenge officially begins.  My target will be to lose about 5-8 pounds.

Figure out which bests describes who you'd hike/swim and try to commit to a pre-determined duration and try every day. I am sure you can easily activity wise burn an extra 300-1000 calories from 'casually' hiking/walking/swim 30min-60mins to 'moderate' to 'difficult' hiking/swimming for 1-3+ hours daily.

Try to hike with a pack on, keep hydrated of course and do any activity that is not stand/sitting can help contribute to burning more (chopping fire wood, carrying fire wood, pitching a tent, loading unloading gear, etc).

Oh gosh I love hiking! I'm so jealous, I can't wait for my camping trip.  If you really want to burn more calories, do some steep hills (I used to mountain hike in my teen years, boy did I feel it after 30 minutes of hiking constantly uphill!).

Hollowness has some good suggestions.  If you have a partner to work out with, I read about a workout where you start at a good distance apart from your partner and sprint in to meet each other then do a predetermined power move like 5 lunges on each side, then sprint back to the starting point.  Then you repeat it for as many times as you predetermine.  Maybe you do five reps of three different power moves like mountain climbers or jumping jacks.  The workout was for partners, but you could just as easily do it by yourself.

I think that if you make a conscious effort to move as much as possible, you could get plenty of exercise without putting much effort into planning.  (Just watch your alcohol intake,  that's what does me in when I am camping.)

Hi guys, I'd like to join too!

I haven't weighed myself in a while (I try not to much - just go by measurements now - will post soon) but I'd say I at about 157 pounds at the moment. Would like to get down to 142 :) (or fit the clothes I could fit when I was that weight previously!!)

I have a problem with binge eating that has developed over the last 6-7 months (fits criteria I have read online for Binge Eating Disorder) so really hope this will help me stay accountable and get on top of this. 

I'll join! This is my first weight loss group :).

gw by my birthday (sept 18): 139.9... being in the 130s would be a sick birthday present to myself!

I'm already trying to lose weight so if it changes by July 1st then obviously my cw stat will change.

So excited!!

I'm in- started for myself on Monday but will post the starting weight (which will hopefully be lower than today) on 1/7.

Right now I am at 168 lbs, my mini-goal is 158lbs and ultimately I'd love to arrive at 150lbs.

I am 5'9, work at desk-job, working out has been pretty sporadically but I plan on working out 3-5 times a week (at the gym or at home).

I'm in!  Need some added motivation for getting back on track.  I will see what I can accomplish between now and July 1st, before I decide what my goals are.  I like to see 1lb/week so my goal will based around that.  My non-scale goal is fit comfortably into all my work trousers again before fall!  I gained about 5lbs earlier this year and wow I have some off limits items in my closet until I lose this!

Jmil - I also work a desk job and consistent workouts are also part of my plan.

Riachick - I would also love to reach the 130's!  Everytime I do, I seem to relax a bit a bound right back up.  But this time I'm not going to let up!

Peachysam - I agree fitting of clothes is such a rewarding way to measure our losses and more reliable than the scale (i.e. water retention, etc).  Hope this helps you too!

I would love to join this challenge.  I lost a good 25 lbs last spring and around 5 lbs since the end of last september.  I'm hoping that this can help stay focused through the summer. I just find I do better not going for an extra sweet when I have a goal.
