Quote  |  Reply

This challenge officially begins on Sunday 1st May and ends on Friday 1st July.

RULES: This challenge is now FULL.  No new Challengers.

POST YOUR WEIGH IN: in this thread every Sunday or Monday. Create a new post each week stating your current weight (include previous weeks weigh-ins if you wish) and commenting upon your progress and what you have / have not been doing to achieve those results.

Weigh-in Note: Everyone has two days to post their weigh-in. If you have not posted your weight by midnight on Monday night, you have missed the weigh-in. Miss three weigh-in days and you are excluded from the challenge (one exception to this; if you notify me beforehand that you will be unable to post your weight due to vacation or unusual circumstances)

FINAL WEIGH IN: On (or before) 6pm (PST) Friday 1st July, no exceptions!!!  This is the only week I will be accepting weigh-ins on a day other than Sunday or Monday.

MOTIVATION: I ask that you keep your posts positive. This challenge is about motivating each of us to succeed in reaching our individual goals. I encourage you all to check in throughout the week for extra support and advice and please feel free to share any knowledge, tips or experience that might help us.

So challengers, are you ready to “lose it” with me?

How much have we lost together?

LOST IN THIS CHALLENGE:

Of the 40 people still left in this challenge by the end, our accumulated weight loss in just eight weeks, is now 185.5 pounds!

Happy belated Mothers Day to all our challenge mothers!!!

Hope you all had a good weekend. I see a lot of weightloss - good job everyone!! even those that maintained or gained slightly, don't worry it's the effort that counts! Stay motivated, keep at it....AND next week will be a better week!!

CSW (Challenge Start Weight): 153

CGW (Challenge Goal weight): 145

CC start weight: 200 (47 lbs lost since beginning Aug 2010!)

01 May - 153

08 May - 153

Yikes! I almost forgot to post!

I'm definitely disappointed with my weight as I've really been good this past week. Even laying low on the sneaky wine!

Yesterday was a little blow-out though as I took my mom out for a special mother's day breakfast (I couldn't very well sit there picking at a piece of toast & boiled egg...!) and then in the evening we had friends over for dinner - so though I exercised some constraint, the food was quite rich. Oh well.

I think know (I hope) the main reason why I don't weigh less this week as because I'm now doing some radical stuff in the gym. Last Wednesday I decided to sign up with a personal trainer and will be seeing him 3 times a week for the next 6 weeks - plus he wants me to do another 2 days on my own. So it's real bootcamp stuff. And "radical" because I'm now doing 3 days of resistance training & weights which is totally new to me. I'm not in any great physical pain, but my muscles are being so intensely worked that they're mega stiff & tight - to the point where it's almost impossible to sneeze or turn over in bed the day after my abdominal/upper body work-out. No pain, no gain I guess!

Anyway, so the biggest "problem" I now have is that I'm almost certainly retaining water weight due to muscle repair. And I've read (?) that this can take up to 3 weeks to work off (sigh). Combined with the fact that I now have to eat a lot more to compensate for twice the amount of energy expended. It's trickier than one would think. But it's all good and I'm feeling really super great so far. I guess results will show (I hope!) in a few weeks time...

Hey everyone!

I can't weigh in today because I'm with my family until tonight for an extended mother's day weekend. There was lots of eating out and lots of poor choices but I don't regret it because we went to a few fantastic restaurants. I'll weigh in either tomorrow or next week.

Happy belated mother's day and great job everyone who has stayed on track!

Yay!

So I'm not sure if any of you out there are just eating intuitively.  I counted calories for about 6 months, and I think I can estimate pretty accurately now. So I don't count anymore, it just takes up too much time for me.

Happy Mother's Day!

I'm actually the same. I very quickly learnt nutritional values and can now guess weights pretty spot on (I did this by looking at something, guessing the weight and then weighing it to confirm). Though I lost the majority of my weight in the first few months when I still counted diligently, I continued to lose when I started the intuitive eating.

I'm back at counting now for the next few weeks (or paying a bit closer attention I guess) due to my new exercise regime and the fact that I have to increase my calorie consumption. Working out more has it's rewards!! ooo, especially the home-made chocolate milk shake I get to drink when I walk out of the gym. It feels deliciously naughty yet is much needed. It feels really strange that!

CSW 174.0 pounds

CSI 231.5 inches (taken from 8 sites-chest, waist, at bellybutton, hips, both thighs and both biceps)

CGW  160.0 pounds

CGI 220.0 inches (taken from same 8 sites)

May 9, 2011 weight: 174.5 Well, considering I had family staying with me all weekend for a volleyball tournament and then my daughter & her long time boyfriend took me out for a Mother's Day brunch buffet the gain could have been so much worse. The sodium bloat was extremely uncomfortable. Even though I drank copious amounts of water in the afternoon & evening I'm still bloated. Hopefully that will dissipate today.

Foxriver - Oops!!!  I did mean 158.  148 would be awesome, but not healthy or realistic.

Rancho, Thanks for posting! ETA *wonders if Rancho reads our comments to him*

Sometimes Laughing!

Othertimes I'm in and out so fast that I don't read anything.  It all depends on my day.  Like yesterday, I never go online at all.  But I try to at least report in even if I don't have time to browse.

Challenge Start Weight 5/1 = 180.9

Challenge target weight 7/1 = 171.9

5/9 = 181.1

Whichwayup......

From experience......I started weight training in December and gained 10lbs!!!!  Up until this challenge I did not drop any weight in 4 months at the gym but my body did change.  I tightened my belt a notch, people remarked how slim I was looking.  I gained muscle and trimmed fat.  Keep the weight training up...it WILL help in the long run.

Start: 309

5/1: 307 (-2, I'm so happy)

Goal: 290

whichwayup-  awesome job in the gym!  Please don't let the scale discourage you during this transition.  I think you will find the results in your body shape to be well worth your efforts :)

Congrats to everyone who lost this week and keep plugging away to those that didn't, consistancy yields results :)

Hubby is doing better today, hopefully will be going home in another day or two. Struggling a bit with exercise and eating with so much going on right now.  Both my older kids have field trips for school, plus work, etc.  Might be a maintenance week for me, if I'm lucky!

Hi Everyone!

I'm back from my vacation.  So nice to see everyone here and working at rocking this challenge!

While we walked LOTS while away, we also ate very well and drank too much wine ... and now I'm paying the price with the number on the scale!  I'm hoping the weight will drop off as quickly as it came, but I must get back to logging and exercising!

05/08: 180.8 lbs

Well, here are my measurements:

Start: 143.75 inches, 129.3 lbs

5/9:   143.75 inches, 128.6 lbs

It seems my weight went a bit down, but no change in measurements. I did decently with the eating, although I had a rough week so I have been under eating the past few days. Trying to stay positive, but I went through a tough break-up with my boyfriend of over a year. Hopefully this no appetite thing will pass soon. As I know we want to stay light hearted here, there might be a silver lining; I can finally go to lunch with the cute office guy without feeling guilty now!

Congratulations to all the awesome losses already! As for the slight gains or static numbers, I don't think it's anything to fret about. After all, we are only in the first week! Here's to staying motivated and making this week even more awesome than the last!

Thank you so much Tina & Michlou! It's very encouraging to hear :-) It's a major transition for me both in exercise & food. I'm sure no miracle transformation will happen in 6 weeks, though I do expect (hope!) my body shape will change at least a little.

Oh and this reminds me to get my camera out tomorrow and take some before/after photos....

(Tina, I'm glad to hear your husband is doing better - I always keep an eye out for your posts to see you you two are doing. You're incredibly strong - I can't even begin to imagine what it must take to simply "keep it together" during this time)

Geministars, losing a pound last week is awesome! More water is definitely helping you. Keep making small changes like this (it's much less overwhelming than a grand plan) and you will still get the results you want.

Cairo, wow, good start! How's your knee holding up?

Kari87, good plan for this week and great attitude! Every healthy thing you do will help you towards your goals.

Michlou, Awesome result, good for you.

Katu, Yey for being a sixties girl!! Didn't know you were measuring inches too .. do you have a goal for that? (please let me know if you do) Thanks for the supportive words too!

Loseweight, aw.. how sweet you got mother's day breakfast cooked for you AAAND lost weight too! Yey

Whichwayup, boo to water retention from weight training but YUM to deliciously naughty chocolate milk required for good results ! Watching your intake (or rather the macro nutrients) during this "radical" training will really help you get the full benefit form all your efforts. Really GO for it!

Jackie, thanks for checking in today, glad you had some good times with your family this weekend. Give yourself a pass this time and weigh in next week (drink buckets of water, okay).
