LOSE IT for Independence Day ! **Challenge Ended**

Quote  |  Reply

This challenge officially begins on Sunday 1st May and ends on Friday 1st July.

RULES: This challenge is now FULL.  No new Challengers.

POST YOUR WEIGH IN: in this thread every Sunday or Monday. Create a new post each week stating your current weight (include previous weeks weigh-ins if you wish) and commenting upon your progress and what you have / have not been doing to achieve those results.

Weigh-in Note: Everyone has two days to post their weigh-in. If you have not posted your weight by midnight on Monday night, you have missed the weigh-in. Miss three weigh-in days and you are excluded from the challenge (one exception to this; if you notify me beforehand that you will be unable to post your weight due to vacation or unusual circumstances)

FINAL WEIGH IN: On (or before) 6pm (PST) Friday 1st July, no exceptions!!!  This is the only week I will be accepting weigh-ins on a day other than Sunday or Monday.

MOTIVATION: I ask that you keep your posts positive. This challenge is about motivating each of us to succeed in reaching our individual goals. I encourage you all to check in throughout the week for extra support and advice and please feel free to share any knowledge, tips or experience that might help us.

So challengers, are you ready to “lose it” with me?

How much have we lost together?

LOST IN THIS CHALLENGE:

Of the 40 people still left in this challenge by the end, our accumulated weight loss in just eight weeks, is now 185.5 pounds!

Ahh...so close!

Yet I am so happy with how far I ve come since the start of easter challenge. One woman at work actually came up to me and said that I am an inspiration to everyone there and that now everybody is thinking about losing their weight and are conscious about their health. Felt so good to hear that!

July 1:  166.8

This is nowhere near what I had hoped for, but probably more of a loss than I deserve.  The group idea sounds good, but is too much contact for me at the moment.

Not at my goal for this challenge, but a down a few pounds is great.  The gain this week was to be expected.  I had take out pizza and McDonald's.... so I'm just glad that it's not more.

Good luck to the rest of you folks, and hope to see you all in the new group.

Oh well. After that scary time in the 150s I said I'd be happy if I ended the challenge in the 140s so I can't whine too much.  Yay, we all made it!

I think the new group sounds like a great idea.  I'd like to join, but I probably won't join in any new challenges right away.  We're going back to England at the end of the month for my SIL's wedding and then are spending a week or so in France.  I want to try to maintain my weight during that time by being smart about what I put in my mouth but I don't necessarily want to count calories, weigh in, etc etc during that time.  Especially because I miss the hell out of fish and chips and I want to try the wine in France.

May 9, 2011 weight: 174.5 Well, considering I had family staying with me all weekend for a volleyball tournament and then my daughter & her long time boyfriend took me out for a Mother's Day brunch buffet the gain could have been so much worse. The sodium bloat was extremely uncomfortable. Even though I drank copious amounts of water in the afternoon & evening I'm still bloated. Hopefully that will dissipate today.

Blarg.  Not the way I wanted to go out, but it is what it is.  Maybe I needed this break.  I'm not sweating it.  I've got a 5k tomorrow, and a 25 mile bike ride next weekend.

All things considered, I still managed a loss in this challenge.  Good enough!

Thanks for the challenge!  Best wishes to everyone - see you in the coming group!

Ok, well it's not my goal weight, but holy cow I'm so happy!!! I got a little crazy with my deficit this week, but I made it. Kept calories to about 1500 all week and there were lots of temptations (thankfully no free food at work!). All in all, this was a great experience. I realized that I can limit my daily to what I need, splurge when I want (2 sushi trips and a 3 day vacation in Vegas), and still come out ahead in the end. I loved this challenge... Thank you Fox for setting it up, it has been very enlightening!

I was lower all week and then this. Could be the chocolate ice cream and pizza I had last night. ;) I'm just not in the right mindset recently and with house purchase/moving/renovation plans underway I think I have too much to manage and need to give myself a pass on this for now.

I made my goal !!!!!!! yay

Back to square one. Where I started. Congratulations to all the losers and who maintained and for those who did see a gain, keep up the work you will see the downward trend.

I am having trouble meeting my calorie goa.  My intention was to maintain for couple of weeks and then reduce the calorie intake to get out of this plateau.  But for the last 2-3 weeks, I've been trying everything I can, but my maximum calorie intake is 1600.  Just not feeling like eating or drinking anything.  Fully swamped with 40+ hours a week work, full time college and a kid at home.  Becoming too hard.  Didn't even see the door to gym in 2 weeks.

Will have to do something to change this.

Good luck everyone!  See you all in the new GROUP!!!! Enjoy your long weekend before you go back to calorie counting.

I didn't even come close to my goal,  but I am still happy with it.  I was not as dedicated as I thought I was going to be, so I say a loss of almost 7lbs is good for me.  I just look forward to continuing my journey.  Can't wait to start our new group!!  Great job everyone for sticking to is and finishing this challenge!! Laughing

143.0 today. I'm not thrilled but it's been a hard month. I'm hoping to get everything under control and get the ball rolling in the right direction!

1st May 137lbs

8th May 135.5 lbs

16th May 138 lbs

22nd May 136 lbs

28th May 136 lbs

5th June 136 lbs

13th June 137 lbs

19th June 135.5lbs

1st July 135.4lbs

Well at least I'm not 136 lbs.... and at least I lost a little weight in the challenge.... and I didn't gain any! I have kept my BMI under 22 (21.8 now)

I'm not a measurer (I find that every time I measure it is different, because even the slightest different place you put the tape, makes the number change, unless I can have permanent tattoo 'measure lines' put on around certain places, I will never be a good measurer... so too unreliable) BUT I HAVE noticed the butt of my work jeans looking a bit baggy (I wear super tight jeans) and the waistband is loose and I'm always hitching them up.... do surely the inches are shifting around.

SOOOO a 2lb loss over the challenge but my body looks better and I am feeling fitter. So for me this is a win for the challenge, although I didn't technically reach my goal number on the scale, I know I look much better than that 2lb loss would indicate.

I'm excited about next challenge, I think that the changes I have made in the last month will see a drop in weight, but I'm not really seeing it yet because of water retention from the added exercise.

My changes have included accepting the sad sad reality that I have become intolerant to wheat since having my last baby. I have suspected it for a while, but I have done an elimination test diet, and found, yes unfortunately it is the wheat :( I LOVE WHEAT :( No more pasta or bread or anything tasty for me... I was really bummed for a while, and said to myself that I couldn't be one of 'THOSE' women who claim to be intolerant of wheat... I used to hate those women, I thought they were only doing it to 'diet' whilst pretending they weren't ... anyway had a little bowl of pasta (god it was yummy)... then during the night, horrible stomach pains, and a swollen belly for the next 24 hours... I looked like I was 6 months pregnant, and even got a comment at work!   so *sigh* bye bye sweet sweet wheat for mousey.

The second change I made was running. I have always HATED running, the impact, the sweat it just all seemed so unpleasant.... But my husband bought me a pair of dedicated running shoes (I have NEVER even owned a pair of sport shoes! Let alone professional running shoes!) They weren't cheep, so I was like, oh well I better at least try them. And now I can run 2 miles without stopping. I hate it and it almost kills me, but It gives me a sense of achievement haha.... 2 miles isn't a lot to most people I know, but for me who has never run at all it is good :) So I have added that to my exercise I already do....

This challenge has inspired me to try new things, I see people that are way older than me, heavier or less fit they are doing more exercise, and I'm thinking 'what kind of excuse do you have Mousey? Get out there and do something!' I'm seeing people who have had a bad day or week eating wise, and I know I'm not alone in having these times, it helps me pull myself together and get back to healthy eating.

Thankyou everybody :) and I hope to see most of you in the next challenge :)

xxMousey
