Monday Weigh-in Group
I figured I would start a new Monday weigh-in group (I actually couldn't find any...but I'm sure they're out there). For all those people who weigh in on Mondays, come here to share your progress, your setbacks, and find a buddy or two!
After gaining 15lbs in the past 3 months (ugh), I need to get back to working out and eating right like I used to! I want to get back on track before I start graduate school in July, so I can take those healthy habits with me into my new life! Anyway, today I am starting again. I have a new mindset: I don't hope to lose the weight or hope to become healthy. I AM going to lose the weight and I AM going to be healthy.
With that said,
Starting Date: 04/27/09
Starting Weight: 170lb
Current Weight: 170lb
Goal Weight: 140lb
Goal Date: 05/14/10
Hi everyone. I'd like to join this Monday weigh-in. I think stepping on the scale Monday morning will make me more accountable on the weekends. I have really backslid recently. After beginning my weight loss journey in 2005 at 229 lbs. (5'1" tall) I got down to 174 lbs. in the summer of 2008. Then, starting with Halloween I steadily put on weight and am now at 189 lbs. and totally disgusted with myself. However, each day is a chance to start again, thank God! By the way, I'm 41 years old. So, here are my stats:
Starting date: 8/3/09
Starting weight: 189 lbs.
Current weight: 189 lbs.
Goal weight: 119 lbs.
Goal date: 11/02/10

HOnestly, I have friends who are skinny with no effort, I have this one friend that went from an 11 to a 5 and she enjoys things like that organic bread that tastes like cardboard.. Its a little hard for me to feel compasisonate when she says she's been stuck at 130 for a month. I feel better there are people out there struggling like me who like to have good dinners and enjoy their food. When I was counting calories last time I stuck to it, but I hated to eat.. so then I'd binge on sweets and simple carbs. Now I'm not quite down to where I'm supposed to be, but its motivating knowing there are others out there that struggle too.
Before I started counting, the first day I logged in my meal I had eaten 2500 calories during the day. Large part due to my choices.. the infamous cookie the size of my head I'd eat everyday after my salad and medium Pepsi. But the more conscious I am, the better I'm doing, my estimate for today is 1400 calories with what I have eaten, the snacks I brought with me to work, and the buffalo wing salad I'm planning on eating for dinner.. just chicken with the tobasco.. or whatever sauce they use, ice burg lettuce, carrot shreds, and light ranch.. My issue is at home when I try to cook, Its really hard to find a healthy way to make posole or enchiladas.. but I'm going to try to limit how much I eat of that stuff..
I love home cooked meals! Besides limiting how much of that you eat, also try substituting some of the ingredients. For example: instead of using beef, try turkey or really lean beef. If the recipe calls for milk, use fat free or 2%. By doing these little things, it'll help to make the meal healthier.

Ikiteru, thanks for the tips, I'll try some of your suggestions, maybe going with a lighter cheese would help too.. As far as the beef goes, UG, to give up that is gonna be a little hard, my whole life we have had cows, and every year one stays to supply the family with beef, now that my husband goes to help my grandpa we get meat whenever, well I guess I can look up organic beef.. try and steer clear of the ground one, maybe make a roast and shred the beef to make tacos Hmmm... Genius!

july 4 (was off for a holiday at the time of weigh in) 103.6 kilos = 228 lbs
july 6 103 kilos = 227 lbs

1 pound gain, but it's my water weight week. Every 4th to 5th week this happens. Usually I just maintain or only lose half a pound, but that's OK. I'd lost 9 pounds over the previous 3 weeks, so if it's actually 8 pounds over 4 weeks that's still a good average and still well within my goals.

So at the beginning I started losing the weight. Now it's holding steady. Scale wise I have hit a plateau and haven't really dropped nor really gained any weight. Measurement wise I have measured smalled by 1/2" to 2" in some areas.
So should I be concerned that I haven't dropped any weight on the scale? I have been considering dropping my caloric intake from 1700 to 1200-1300. Maybe that might help then it might not because I'll notice the difference in my calorie intake. I'm working out 4-6 days a week with a combo of weights and cardio any where from 1-3 hrs.
What do you guys think? Any feed back is welcome and appreciated! ![]()
They say when you hit a plateau the first thing to do is exercise more, maybe go in for another half an hour, if you can't do that, the second step is to reduce your calories by 1,000 so aim for 1500-1600 calories per day.
Good Luck!

Thanks Fluffy! I know 1200-1300 was extreme. I hadn't actually planned on going that far. Thanks a lot for the feed back! I'll definitely extend the exercise another 30-60 mins and drop my caloric intake to 1500-1600. If nothing happens, then I'll just concentrate on keeping healthy and not splurging. ![]()

I guess I've hit a bona fide plateau. Bleh. It sucks to not see the scale move when I know I'm doing everything "right". I'm not ready to change any of my routine yet. I'm still tracking nd measuring everything, so I know my calories are where they need to be and I'm running 4-5 times a week and for much longer distances than I was before. It could be stress holding on to the weight. I'm in the process of purchasing my first condo and all sorts of stupid stuff is going wrong/coming up.
I ran my first 10k this week, though. The furthest I've run yet! It felt darn good.

Back in the right direction. But frustrating as I weigh myself every day but only "count" it once a week and I was at 181 all weekend. harrumph.
In other news, I fit into my size 14 skinny jeans this morning. Now, I know there's nothing skinny about wearing a size 14, but they look good nonetheless. lol.

The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
