Motivation Tips

Quote  |  Reply

My parents have just informed me that they are getting rid of my elliptical... making exercise extremely difficult.  I now have to go running outside (in the freezing, snow covered city I call home.)  Does anyone have any tips to help motivate myself to continue exercising, even if more difficult?

Is there any chance of talking to them about keeping it?  If not, put your energy into finding something you like, rather than forcing yourself into doing something you don't like.  You will only keep doing it if it is enjoyable to you.

I went to the lumber store and took some of their scrap wood and built myself a 8" tall step. You can stand in front of the TV and step up and down for 20 minutes. It's an amazing cardio workout and you will work up a sweat. If you live in a house with stairs, start using them. You can also go to the local WalMart and purchase the Gold's Gym resistance bands for under 20.00. They're great and I utilized both of these methods for exercise and in 20 months I lost 153 pounds. On days where there was decent weather, I walked.

thanks so much, those are really great ideas!

and we have to get rid of it because our house is going on the market and to sell it the elliptical has to go because it's an "eye sore."
