I don't know about any body else, but I find it easier to pass the time by listening to music while I'm working out.  Instead of watching the minutes (25-30 to be exact) go by on the treadmill countdown, I know that I should be on there for about 8-10 songs (depending on the length of each song, of course).  It's more fun that way!  And it TOTALLY beats listening to everybody else's heavy breathing around me... lol.  Anyway, I'm a country-music kind of girl, and most of the songs on my MP3 player are slower country songs - not exactly motivational when trying to pick up the pace when running or cycling... haha.  SO, I thought I'd ask around to see what gets ya'll pumped and ready to break a sweat!

Imogen Heap: The Walk  and also I like Imogen Heap: Headlock. the both start out slow so they are good for the start of a workout and then build up. They are awesome. Oh yeah, and Andain's song "Beautiful Things"
i listen to my my gym mix.  i usually listen to half of a CD while i'm on the elliptical.  Usually the new JT cd.  he's my guilty pleasure. haha.  but then i switch over to my mix almost everytime.  By the time I finish on the elliptical and do all of my lifting and ab stuff the mix is over. I usually skip a couple songs cuz they're slower than the rest of them.

my mix is:

1. Big D and the Kids Table - the Sounds of Allston Village
2. Jimmy Eat World - Futures
3. Ben Folds Five - One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces
4. Big D and the Kids Table - LAX
5. RX Bandits - Taking Chase as the Serpent Slithers
6. Westbound Train - Forever
7. Saves the Day - Sell My Old Clothes, I'm Off to Heaven
8. Jimmy Eat World - Praise Chorus
9. The Anniversary - Emma Discovery
10. Reel Big Fish - Trendy
11. Jimmy Eat World - Clarity
12. Blink 182 - Rollercoaster
13. Brand New - Jude Law and his Semester Abroad
14. Goldfinger - Superman
15. Jimmy Eat World - Nothing Wrong
16. Motion City Soundtrack - Cambridge
17. The Movielife - Faces or Kneecaps
18. Saves the Day - Holly Hox, Forget me Not
19. Muse - Hysteria
20. Jimmy Eat World - Believe in what you Want
21. Saves the Day - Firefly

I have my gym playlist, lol, and the song that really gets me going is Remember the Name by Fort Minor
What else works:
Over My Head by Sum 41
7 Minutes in Heaven by Fall Out Boy
Gasolina by Daddy Yankee, and
Chop Suey! by System of a Down
It's all got really good beats, hope this helps
Yay!  Ya'll are giving me really good ideas!

Thanks! ... and keep 'em comin'!
thisreal4ever,

That reminds me... I too listen to some Jimmy Eat World when exercising.  The whole ablum they released is pretty great and has some good backbeats.
All of their entire albums are amaaaaaazing!  I'm somewhat of a Jimmy Eat World super fan. haha.  and that's probably an under -statement.  Clarity is my favorite CD by them.  I highly recommend it.  I listen to it when I exercise more in the morning rather than later in the day because I don't feel like listening to lots of fast crazy music when it's 745am. haha Clarity is somewhat more mellow than the other CDs they have out.
Hard-Fi are really good to work out too. I run through the whole album sometimes and not even realise it.
Hmm... I didn't even realize Jimmy Eat World had more than their self-titled album... I'll have to check them out Thanks!
Hmm, lots of the Strokes, some Kings of Leon, even some Bob Marley, Bloc Party, etc can get me going.

Sadly at the moment I have nothing... my Ipod was stolen 2 weeks or so ago.  Greedy little cowards.  Theives suck @ss!!

LOL.  I bid on a new one on ebay.  Wish me luck with that.  It'll be my 3rd since 2005.  Geez.

Oh, and I second the Imogen Heap suggestion!  And, Fall Out Boy blew up somehow, and it's so funny to me.  My best friend went to HS with them.  It's hilarious to see how "big" they've gotten!

I run to Rob Zombie or Ministry... cycle to Deicide (death metal for anyone who doesn't know) and try to pedal as fast as the drummer! he's FAST!Hatebreed is great for weight rotations, don't let the name fool ya, very inspiring lyrics... and I'm with christafat as far as Krishna Das and other melodic artists when it comes to my nightly yoga. Perfect way to end a day.
