I was unhappy with my weight. No matter how much I exercised, I couldn't lose a pound. My doctor suggested I try a 1800 calorie diet. A google search to see how many calories were in my favorite lunch sub (990 calories by the way) led me to the Calorie Count website. I joined this site not really believing it was going to make a difference.
I used the tools, I read the forum topics, I learned a lot about my calorie requirements, nutrition, and the role exercise can play. I was determined to try for 90 days. I faithfully logged my meals, and faithfully kept within my calorie limits.
One year ago today, I weighed 147 lbs (5'2").
December 2010, I weighed in at 133 lbs.
March 2011, I weighed 125 lbs.
May 2011, I reached my goal weight of 120 lbs.
I switched to maintenance...and this morning I weighed 119 lbs.
Thank you CC, you helped me do what I thought was impossible.
Way to Go!!! You should be very proud of yourself! Good luck on maintenace!![]()
Awesome job!!!! Give yourself a big pat on the back :)
Congratulations! Did you do 1800 calories the whole time every day or did you decrease calories as you lost weight?
1800 is my maintenance (if I don't exercise). I started at 1200 calories (1600 on days I ran)...but felt like I was starving myself. So I bumped up to 1400 - 1500 (more with exercise). I tried to keep a 500 calorie deficit most days. When I reached 130, I reduced my calorie deficit to 300.
Now I only have a deficit maybe 2 days a week.
Congrats to you, and thank you for this post! I really needed it this morning. I've only been with this since mid-July and I keep going up and down. But your weight losses you have posted made me realize that if you stick with it, you can get there. It's not going to happen overnight. I have moments where I want to throw in the towel, but I am not going anywhere! Nice job- thanks!
AWESOME and congrats!!!!!
so so awesome! thank you for sharing!
Great story! Congrats to you!
Hi Darcy,
Congratulations! I want to do what you did!! i am a little confused though in the numbers. If you had 1800 calories to work with and booted it up to 1400-1500 calories, this is a 300-400 calorie deficit versus 500 calorie deficit. Those numbers are without exercise correct? I am asking I guess because I am having a really hard time keeping to a 500 calorie deficit and have only lost 4.5 pounds in 7 weeks. I tend to keep to a 300 -400 calorie deficit(about 500 on days I exercise) but then every 10 days will have a day where I will eat 500 calories above my limit. When I average the days is comes out to about 300 caloirie deficit a day. I am wondering if keeping to an exact amount every day is better for weight loss than some of the up and down I do.
So, Darcy, what was your favorite lunch?!
Very commendable. keep up the great work and remember, to change your diet is to make a change in your life :) Good Luck for now and the Future! Cheers :)
