One Year Later...
Today marks my one-year "anniversary" with my new lifestyle. I've lost 60 lbs to date, and have managed to maintain at my goal weight since December. I had my annual physical today, my BP was 110/60, woo-hoo! My bloodwork is all completely normal. I went from getting winded from walking a mile to being able to run at least 8 miles (I haven't tried to go further than that yet) in just over an hour. I eat well and still get to have chocolate every day. I actually love my body and don't mind seeing myself in the mirror or pictures.
I just wanted to share a little bit because I'm kind of proud of my success, and I think if I could do this, then anyone could. Just stick to it and it'll pay in the long run! If you mess up one day (or two, or a week...) don't give up. Just pick yourself up and continue doing what you need to do the next day. It works!
Congrats on your success. You should be pround of yourself. ![]()

LOL!
Thanks everyone!
Congratulations! You look fantastic. Losing is so hard, but maintaining is even more of of a challenge. You've done both :)
Congratulations! You are truly amazing, and an inspirtation!!! I have NEVER, regardless of my weight or fitness level, run more than five miles. You've obviously worked very hard, and you should be very proud!
Congrats on your loss! You look fabulous. ![]()
Thank you for sharing your success with us.
Wow that is so amazing and inspiring- thanks for sharing! I have just started a weight loss program and it is going ok- very slow, but steadily. I have lost 6 lb since February (my goal is about 20) and am really working on re-learning eating habits. I exercise an average of an hour a day but have NEVER run 8 miles in an hour- now I want to work towards it!
Congratulations and thanks for sharing!
CONGRATS!!!![]()
I started just last week, but what I feel you are an inspiration to me, is the fact you say you can now run. I am planning on starting running, as I walk twice a day with my dogs, but at a very slow pace...way to go girl!

Congratulations. You have much to be proud of. This was a timely post for me, because I was a bit down after reading another thread where people lost and gained it all back or more. I was just starting to question whether I would be able to do it when the time reaches. Thank you very much and good luck on your continued journey
Congratulations! Great job!!
That is fantastic! You have every reason to be proud!! I find your accomplishments quite reassuring and also to be an inspiration, I have made my lifestyle change just this year (January) and was finding myself going back to my "old habits" and I had to remind myself that the progress made so far was still progress!
Keep it up and congratulations again!
Thank you so much for posting this! I was having such a bad morning thinking about the pizza and cake I ate yesterday but now I feel much better and am even MORE motivated than I was.
I started using CC a month ago and I've went from 180 lbs (i'm 5' 3") to 169 pounds! I've been so excited about my clothes fitting better and I can't wait to fit into these lovely vintage dresses I've been buying over the years in hopes of flaunting them one day.
Congratulations on all of your hard work and success! You look amazing!

congratulations on the loss and maintainance. Thank you also for the kind words and motivation, it means a lot when falling off the wagon from time to time.
It's good to hear stories like this in NY. I didn't watch all season, but just read about that Bethpage girl on the show "The Biggest Loser". She lost a lot of weight too.
You do look great. Were your cholesterol and BP numbers off before? Great example of diet and exercise curing these problems better than drugs do.
I'm a fellow-NYer just starting. I'm a month in and just by changing diet and walking a little bit (my knees now hurt when I try to run). I quit my gym last year when I went through money trouble, so I'm just doing pushups and stuff. So far I went from 286 down to 273. I haven't taken a day off yet, so I'm just concerned that if I go a day or a few days without walking or exercising that it may all go away. You've kept this up for a full year, so that is great. I will do my best to keep up this new lifestyle change forever.
I have 50 pounds I would like to lose. I have been trying to lose it for the last 5 years! I have gone to WW three times and lost no more than 10 each time. When I am off the program, it seems I gain the 10 back plus a penalty of 3 or 4. Your story really is what I needed to read today! Congratulations on your success and thank you for sharing! I just dropped below the 190 lbs. line and I am not looking back! I WILL meet my goal this time, thanks to your inspiration and of those on this site!!
Wow! amazing. You are truly giving me inspiration to reach my goal weight by end of this year. Congratulations!
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
