PLATEAU and other issues...

Hi,

I have long been on a low calorie diet, which I rectified three weeks ago from 900-1000 cal/day to 1200-1300) because I stopped loosing weight. I also begun to exercise a one month ago (x3 days a week, 3 hours, 1200 cal burnt + cycling daily 20 min at least), and instead of having lost volume or weight, I've put on some! WHY? is there anything wrong with what I'm doing? Thank you guys!

You sound as if you don't need to lose any weight, to me.

I'll third that!!!

You are where you should be (on the low end I believe!)  Keep exercising and toning and keep your calories 1300 - 1600 at least based on your output.

You may  not loose any more, which I do not believe you should, but you will firm and tone up.

Simple maths:

Food in = 1200 per day on exercise days

Calories burned = 1200 calories on exercise days

Result - killing yourself as you also need a couple of thousand a day to live on between bouts of attempted suicide.

WHY don't people realise they need to eat to live, before adding the exercise *headdesk*

I think you misunderstood - her exercise alone is burning 1200 calories. She'd still be drastically undereating if she ate 1300-1600, especially if she keeps exercising this much.

Edit:  Yep, you are right.  1600 - 1850 except on exercise days, then upped based on output....

If you have been on a low cal diet for a long time, your body has probably metabolically adapted to those low cals in an attempt to survive.  You will need to up your cals to maintenance for awhile to get it going again.  Probably at least 2000-2500  based on your amount of activity.  When you are maintaining on that, you can try decreasing by 250-500 to lose again.  I also have to agree with prev posters, you don't need to lose more weight.

i fourth the no need to lose weight comments. eat at maintain and exercise to keep fit and healthy. stop watching the scale. I know it is not what you want to hear, but we at CC advocate only health and fitness not suicide

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
