Slow loss... why

Quote  |  Reply

this is actually almost the end of my 3rd week.  not sure what happened but the first week never ended and went to week 2.  anyway...  I am losing so slow up a half lb. from last week.  I log literally everything I eat.  I haven't binged...  I know my water intake is low but that couldn't be the only reason.  I need to lose 50+ lbs. and I am having a hard time staying motivated.  I never use to eat breakfast, now I am, I am trying real hard to incorporate exercise into my daily routine, not always successful but I am working on it. I have stopped drinking regular beer and allow for when I do have an ultra lite beer ranging in 52 to 96 calories per serving AND I mark it down. 4 lbs in 3 weeks is not very motivating.  Frown

It may not be a huge loss but it's still a loss and you should be proud!! May I suggest increasing your workout intensity. Are eating enough calories? Are you eating the right amount? Don't give up and keep pushing forward. Remember it's not about the scale, it's about how you feel. I have been at the same weight for 2 weeks now and even though the scale has stayed the same I noticed my measurements are smaller! You can totally do this!! Good luck on your journey :)

You are not alone! This same thing happened to me when I started this whole weight loss thing. I lost 1/2 pound per week and was feeling very discouraged because I was reading so many stories where people lost 10 lbs their first week.

Do not give up! Your head is in the right place, and now you just need to give your body time to catch up.

Keep logging your food and try to work in a little exercise. Even just going for some walks. Anything to get your heart rate up a little bit.

It will happen, I swear! I lost 12 lbs so far and it has taken a long time. Months. Not what you want to hear. But stick with it! It is so worth it! I know you can do it. :)

I'm back. ;)  Here is a link to this same question I asked when I first started: http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/motivati on/slow-start-1

Hope it helps.

Keep posting on the forums, people are so helpful and knowledgeable around here.

That's over 50 lbs in a year.

Highly motivating. weight loss takes time

4 lbs in 3 weeks is great progress. You don't need to change what you're doing you just need a little reality check. It's going to take time and you need to be patient with yourself. 1.3 lbs per week is a great rate to be losing at. Don't set your expectations too high or you will just set yourself up to fail.

I thank you all for the replies.  I thought maybe something I was doing was wrong.  I am wondering if not eating all of my calories is part of the problem...  I think I will try to make sure to keep closer to my mark and get myself walking!  Thank you everyone!!!
