Slow and steady wins the race..sure.. but this SLOW??
I have been trying to loose 40 lbs since Dec 2010. I started doing it seriously since Jan 2011 though to be fair..
What do u think I should have lost (I started eating healthy at 1200 calories a day, plus exercising religiously..)
The CC weight analysis shows 3.2 lbs lost till date!!!
Can anyone explain why its sooo slow for me? what do I need to amp up an may b increase the pace of weight loss?
I would guess that you're not eating enough. 1200 cals/day is the bare minimum that a sedentary old woman should eat. So if you get out of bed every day you should probably be eating more. What are your stats?
On the other end of the spectrum, is it possible that you are not counting everything and accidentally overeating?
Really, though, it's probably the first of the two.
I have a sedentry life (I think as I m a software developer and work at my office desk for 8-9 hrs a day)... and hence when I started with CC, I used the sedentry type as my activity level. Then I log in my activities (ie exercises I do like swimming, walking etc in the activity track)
I am 156 cms tall and currently 157.8 lbs. I have a smallish frame..
I do try to enter all the calories i put in my mouth, even if i overshoot my allowance of 1200 cals per day.. :(
Dunno whts wrong really :(
Help pls!!!

It's fine if you want to set your activity level to sedentary and log your exercise. But if you are using the calorie target tool, you need to give it a better estimate of your total (including exercise) activity level, so that you get a better calorie target.
To change the calorie target in your eat meter, you must manually change it in your account settings.
1200 is typically too low for most people, especially people who are exercising.

wow-- what a typo! LOL!!
I agree, not enough calories really- maybe switching it up a bit during the week with higher and lower days? I've heard that works. Good luck :)
For me I find that I loose weight at a more realistic pace if I limit the refined or sugar carbs I eat. When I follow the South Beach diet the weight will fall off and I also feel a lot better. The first 2 weeks of the diet are pretty strict (no fruit really because of the sugars), but it is kind of a detox. After the first 2 weeks you can start adding back some healthy carbs (whole grain bread for example), but it is all in moderation and really a trial and error to see if certain carbs don't work for you. Overall it gets you to think and really pay close attention to what you are eating each day.
It really depends on what you are eating i think. Are you eating lots of fiber? Have you cut out soda and sugars? Are you eating lots of vegetables and fruit? If you don't follow a balanced diet, your body will be missing the nutrients it needs. Read everything you can lay your hands on about proper eating habits. You can find lots of information on this site and others. I live in Canada and I follow the Canada Food Guide. In the States, you have something called My Pyramid or something like that. I have found that losing weight isn't about starving yourself, it's about eating the right things. I haven't eaten so much food in a long, long time and I have managed to lose 55 pounds since last July. Don't give up I know you can do it. :)
Thanks for all the suggestions and the help :)
I do not drink any areated drinks as I am a little bit allergic to them (i tend to puke even if i take a sip), so colas and all sorts of aerated stuff is out!
I dont drink fruit juices as i have read all over that eating the fruit is better than drinking it...
I try to get a grade B+ to A on the CC analysis...
Now as u all suggest I will try to up my calories and see if that helps..
Thanks to all again for getting me out of this bad mood :)
I thought I would add my two pence worth.....
According to CC's own calculator (I guessed your age at 30) it says you burn 1650 calories a day just to maintain your current weight. I seriously suggest you up your calories.
Try to maintain a 300 calorie deficit using the analysis tool. I am a fellow shorty (150cm) and feel a lot better keeping a smaller deficit. Yes, it takes twice as long to loose the weight, but it is easier to sustain in the long run.
DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!!!!
